INTRODUCTION

1.1 INTENDED USE:
The Alecto DBX-80 is a wireless baby monitor to remotely listen to the sounds from your baby’s room.
1.2 ABOUT THIS USER’S MANUAL:
This symbol represents a warning. To ensure safe use, will always adhere to the instructions described in this documentation.
This symbol is followed by a user’s tip. Always check LI the Alecto website for the most recent version of this user’s manual. The version number is on the lower right on the other side of this user’s manual.
1.3USER TIPS
** Only use the baby monitor is an additional aid and never as a replacement for an adult or human babysitter. The DBX-80 baby monitor is a transmitter/receiver oper dating with radio waves on the 446 MHz band. The signal transmission may be distorted by external influences such as other baby monitors, walkie-talkies, transmitters, wireless phones, etc. In case your walkie-talkie receives or causes interference, a common solution is switching to a different channel.
The baby monitor has a range of up to 3 Km. This range depends on local conditions such as high buildings, high voltage, and overhead lines. An optimal range is achieved when the baby unit has an unobstructed view of the parent unit.
The use of this baby monitor is permitted in all countries of the EU. When bringing the DBX-80 with you to countries outside the EU, first check the local restrictions on the use of PMR446 equipment in the concerning country.
Keep in mind that the signal of your baby monitor may also be heard by other 446 MHz baby monitors, walkie-talkies, or receivers than yours.
Never use the baby monitor during thunderstorms. Check whether the baby monitor is functioning correctly before each use. In addition to the automated range and connection check of the baby phone, it’s recommended to regularly check the connection by ear while in use. The DBX-80 may not be used for any other purpose than for
the detection of sounds within your own private surround ings; anybody that is or may be present in the room you’re listening to much be informed of the installed baby monitor. The DBX-80 may be expanded with a 2″ baby monitor. The model number of a separate baby unit is “DBX-80BU”.
Expansion units may be purchased from the supplier of the DBX-80 or via the internet on www.alectobaby.nl.
1.4 PLACEMENT
Place the baby unit in a wall socket that cannot be reached by your baby or child. Never place the baby or parent unit in direct sunlight or humid areas.
1.5 DECLARATION OF CONFORMITY**
I, Hedo, hereby declare that the type of radio equipment Alecto DBX-80 conforms to Directive 2014/53/EU. The full text of the EU declaration of conformity is available at the following internet address: http://DOC.hesdo.com/DBX-80-DOC.pdf

Send channel: this is the frequency at which the baby unit transmits. You may choose from channel 1 – channel 8.
Subcode: this option adds an extra code to the signal allowing you to only listen to your baby unit without inter ference from other transmitters on the same frequency.
You may choose from subcode 1- subcode 20.
VOX: this allows you to determine how loud the baby must cry before the baby unit starts transmitting to the parent unit. At VOX setting 1 the baby must cry loudly
before the sound is transmitted to the parent unit. At VOX setting 4 also soft baby sounds are transmitted. It’ll require some trial-and-error to find your ideal level setting.

OPERATION

6.1 BABY UNIT:
For as long as the baby is sleeping and the baby unit is not picking up any sound, no signal is transmitted to the parent unit nor will the parent unit emit any sound.
As soon as the baby starts making sound and the level of this sound exceeds the VOX sensitivity you’ve set, the baby unit starts transmitting the sound to the parent unit. You’ll now hear this sound through the parent unit.
For as long as the baby is making sounds, the baby unit will keep sending this sound to the parent unit. However, because of legal requirements, transmitters on this frequency may not transmit longer than 3 minutes continuously. This is why the baby unit takes a 5 seconds pause after 3 minutes of continuo us transmission and will then start transmitting again.

6.2 PARENT UNIT:
When the parent unit is receiving the signal from the baby unit, the speaker is enabled and you’ll be able to hear the baby sounds.
If the parent unit is set to monitor 2 baby units, the parent unit switched between the baby units every second. This is indica ted in the upper part of the display by the alternating icons 1 and  2.
When one of the babies starts making sound, the parent unit stops alternating between baby unit 1 and baby unit 2. The parent unit will now let you listen to the noise-making baby continuously.
However, every minute the parent unit will listen to the other baby for 5 seconds. If this baby also starts to make noise, the parent unit starts switching between the 2 baby units again allowing you to listen to both babies.

6.3 AUTO MONITOR:
If you’ve enabled the ‘Auto Monitor’ function at the baby unit(s), the microphone of the baby unit switches on every 5 minutes for 10 seconds long, also when the baby is sleeping quietly. This gives you an extra assurance that your baby is still sleeping peacefully.
6.4 CONNECTION CHECK:
Each minute the baby unit sends a check signal in the back ground to the parent unit. You cannot hear this signal, but you can verify that the baby unit sends the signal because ‘TX’ will briefly illuminate in the upper left corner of the baby unit’s display.
The parent unit receives this signal to verify whether that baby unit is enabled and still within range.
If the parent unit doesn’t receive this check signal for 3 minu tes, the parent unit starts emitting 2 short alert beeps every minute while the GD icon starts flashing in the upper part of the parent unit’s display.

When using 2 baby units:
If for example the connection with baby unit 2 is lost, the follo wing starts alternating in the upper part of the display:
remains lit   2 nashes
If you’ve selected the choice OF for the option GD during the setup of the parent unit (i.e. no connection check),the baby unit will still transmit the check signal every minute, but the parent unit will not indicate that the signal is being received.
If you’ve selected the choice OF for the option GD during the setup of the parent unit (i.e. no connection check),the baby unit will still transmit the check signal every minute, but the parent unit will not indicate that the signal is being received.
