- A4. Please refer to the installation guide or watch the installation video provided.
- Q5. How do I place the WiFi Booster properly to balance network speed, coverage, and network stability?
- A5. Place the WiFi Booster based on the color of the indicator light. When the light is green solid, network speed and stability are the best. Yellow comes second. If the light is flashing, it means that the network has not been successfully established and a suitable location needs to be selected again. It is recommended to use it in green/blue light mode for optimal performance. If the coverage area does not meet the requirements, it can be used in yellow light mode, which may sacrifice some speed performance.

Q4. How to install the WiFi Extender Booster?
The installation guide has a detailed description. Or watch the installation video, please click here.
Q5. How to place the WiFi Extender Booster properly to balance network speed, coverage, and network stability?
- Place the WiFi Extender Booster based on the color of the indicator light. When green solid, network speed and stability are the best; Yellow comes second; There flash means that the network has not been successfully established and a suitable location needs to be selected again.
- Tip : It is recommended to use it in green/blue light mode. If the coverage area does not meet the requirements, it can be used in yellow light mode, which will sacrifice some speed performance.)
Q6Why can’t I see the WiFi of the extender after configuration?
- The default original WiFi name for the Tenda extender is Tenda-EXT. After setting up the extender, it will have a new WiFi name. For some models, their WiFi name is the same as your existing WiFi name, so no additional WiFi was found. But at this point, the amplifier has already started working normally. However, for others, EXT will be added to the end of the existing WiFi name. You can always set a new WiFi name yourself.
- For example, if your existing WiFi name is ABCD, after configuration, the possible extended network names may be ABCD / ABCD_EXT / ABCD_EXT_5G or a name you created yourself.
Q7. Cannot connect to Router or BOX
Case 1 :Extender can’t Scan the Wi-Fi of the up-stream Router
- Troubleshoot whether the WiFi signal of the up-stream router is hidden;
- Troubleshoot whether the extender is far away from the router, you can plug it in near the router to set it up first, and then place it where you need it according to the indicator colour after completing the setup;
- There may be more signals around, can try to scan more times;
- If the up-stream router is an old router and uses WEP or share encryption, it may not be able to scan, so you can change the up-stream encryption to one with WPA or WPA2;
Case 2:Unable to Complete the Setup
- Check whether you have entered the SSID and password of the router correctly, the wrong SSID and password will lead to failure to connect to the router.
- Extender and router are too far away, poor signal or serious interference may not be able to connect, please close to the router to connect.
- Please record the router model and ask customer service for help if you have tried the above 2 steps.
Case 3: Unable to search for Extender WiFi signal and completely unable to set it up.
- Pay attention to entering the address correctly (re.tenda.cn)
- Make sure you are connecting to the extender’s Wi-Fi (initial WiFi name is Tenda_EXT)
- If the first connection succeeds but the second fails, please change your browser or clear your browser cache.
Extra Tips
- Normally there is no problem with not being able to set it up. Unless the machine Flash is damaged or locked up.
- If you can not set up the situation, please reset the extender. If it can be restored to the default factory state, it means that there is no problem with the machine, and you should be able to set it up at this time.
- If there is a situation that can not be set, and still can not be restored after reset. Please record the product model and contact the after-sales team for a return or exchange.
Q8. My internet connection is unstable when connecting to the range extender?
Case 1
- Update the Range Extender to the latest firmware
- Replace the channel
Contact Tenda support with the router model number
Case 2
- Update the range extender to the latest firmware
- Disable and then enable the wireless network connection of the end device.
- To find out what the problem is, place the Extender near the router to see if the problem persists.
- Check and record the IP address, default gateway, and DNS of the end device when the range extender loses connection.
- Contact Tenda Support and provide the above results with the model number of the router
Q9. Extenders often drop out on how to solve the problem
- Does disconnection mean that the extender is disconnected from the higher-level router, or the terminal is disconnected from the extender? Confirm the status of the indicator light of the extender when it is disconnected, so as to judge whether it is disconnected between the extender and the superior router.
- If the extender is often disconnected from the higher-level router, it is recommended to check whether the WiFi of the higher-level router is stable. After eliminating the situation of the upstream router, you can fix the channel of the upstream router, in addition to adjusting the position of the extender according to the signal strength of the router received by the extender, receive the upstream signal strength in 60-70% of the position, reduce the obstacles around the extender and router;
- If the extender is often disconnected from the terminal devices, adjust the position of the extender when available, and the terminal is closer.
- Check whether to complete the dual-band expansion, 2.4G&5G with the router to achieve bridging, can be configured in the management background.
10 Problems after a period of use
Case 1: Internet speed has dropped dramatically
- Update the firmware
- Change the channel in the background
- Try to reboot the router and extender
- The connection rate between the router and the extender will decrease as the distance increases, please move the extender closer to the router.
Case 2: Cannot Work
- Check the colour of the indicator lights ——
- Ensure that the device is properly energised in the socket
- If it shows a red light, you can change the position closer to the upper level.
- Please record the product model and contact the after-sales team for a return or exchange.
11、What should I do if my internet speed is slow when connecting to the range extender?
Case 1:
If you are using an environment with many WiFi signals and complex electromagnetic signals, which may cause channel congestion, please try to change the channel of your upstream router.
Case 2:
- Replace the position of the extender, under the premise of meeting the coverage, you can be closer to the extender to get a better connection rate
- Signal extender location has a network cable, you can use APmode, which can effectively improve the network speed. Furthermore:
- If the SSIDs are the same, determine whether the end device is linked to a router or an amplifier. If it is often connected to a router, try setting a separate SSID for the amplifier
- Refer to the Quick Installation Guide/User’s Guide to check the status of the LEDs. If the LED indicates a poor signal due to distance,
- a. Connect only one end device to the Range Extender. Perform a Speed Test® (www.speedtest.net) without performing any high-bandwidth activities. Take a screen capture of the speed test results.
- b. Connect the same end device to a router at the same location. Perform a speed test without any high-bandwidth activity (www.speedtest.net). Take a screenshot of the speed test results.
- Place the end device 2-3 metres away from the range extender and check the wireless link speed of the end device while it is connected to the range extender. Take a screenshot (skip this step if you do not know where to find it).
- Contact Tenda Support with the specific model and screen shot of the speed test for further assistance.
12 Poor coverage
- It is recommended to place the Extender in a high place, no less than 1.5m, to avoid blockage and interference. In fact, the coverage range is affected by a variety of factors, such as the material of the wall, thickness, interference and so on. The coverage range is measured in a laboratory environment, the exact coverage range varies according to the actual environment.
- Choosing a suitable installation location is very helpful for improving coverage area. Please configure the expander and place it in a green/blue light position, which is far from the router. You can try different positions to find a balance between speed and coverage area.
Further Assistance
13、Unable to connect to smart home devices
- Please ensure that the smart device supports WiFi protocol (some smart devices only support Z-Wave or Zigbee protocol, then it is not compatible)
- According to the smart device installation guidelines for installation;
- It is recommended to place the device next to the Extender during installation, and then place it where it is needed after the installation is completed;
- Some smart devices only support 2.4G band, you need to turn off the dual-band all-in-one function;
- Contact the technical support of the smart device provider to explain the installation steps and the model of the smart device.
14、Have a high temperature
- Due to the use of high-performance chips, the device is a normal performance of a slight heat;
- In high power operation, the temperature will be raised, is a normal phenomenon, the normal temperature range will not exceed the indoor temperature of 20 Celsius degrees.
