1. General remarks

2.3 Intended use

The REC LRD0 / LGD0 is a hand-held receiver allowing one person to capture the rays horizontal and vertical lines of a line laser.

The device is preferably intended for indoor use. If used outdoors, care must be taken to ensure that the ambient conditions are identical to those of an indoor room.
Please follow the instructions in this instruction manual. The device and its accessories can pose a risk if used improperly or incorrectly by untrained persons.

4. Safety instructions

4.1 AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
4.1.1 Manufacturer
SOLA is responsible for the delivery of the product in perfect technical condition, as well as for the operating instructions and original accessories.
4.1.2 Operator
The operator is responsible for using the product in accordance with the purpose for which it was designed, the work of its personnel, its training and the safety operational of the product.
It includes product safety information and instructions in the operating instructions.

It complies with the provisions in force on the site and in the user company relating to safety technical and accident prevention, as well as the laws and provisions relating to the protection of employees.

He will inform SOLA immediately as soon as he finds that safety has been impaired due to the product.

4.2 Improper use

4.3 Limits of use
The REC LRD0 / LGD0 handheld receiver is suitable for use in environments that may be permanently inhabited by humans.
The product must not be used in aggressive or explosive environments.
Contact local authorities and safety services before using the product in an
sensitive environment, near electrical installations or in similar situations.

4.4 Dangers during use
4.4.1 General
CAUTION
Dropping, prolonged storage, transportation or other mechanical influences may lead to erroneous measurement results.
Before use, check the accuracy of the device (see chap. 8 / Accuracy check).

4.4.2 Batteries / accumulators
DANGER
Strong mechanical actions exerted on batteries and accumulators can lead to leaks, fire or explosion. In this case, toxic substances can be released.

  • Do not open batteries and accumulators and do not expose them to mechanical stress.
  • Repairs must be carried out exclusively by SOLA.

WARNING
Batteries and accumulators are also at risk of leaking, igniting, exploding or even release toxic substances if ambient temperatures are high or if they are immersed in liquids.

  • Protect batteries and accumulators against mechanical influences during transport.
  • Do not overheat batteries and accumulators and do not expose them to fire.
  • Prevent moisture from entering batteries and accumulators.
  • Do not use defective batteries and accumulators. Safe disposal (see chap. 9 / Disposal).

WARNING
Batteries and accumulators may overheat due to a short circuit or improper use and there is a risk of injury and fire.
Make sure that the battery and accumulator contacts are not in contact with jewellery, keys or other electrically conductive objects.

  • Do not charge the batteries.
  • Do not discharge the batteries by short-circuiting them.
  • Do not solder the batteries in the device.
  • Do not mix old and new batteries or use batteries of different different manufacturers or type.

WARNING
Non-compliant disposal can be for you or for third parties the cause of serious injuries and lead to significant environmental pollution.

When burning plastic parts, toxic gases that are harmful to the health are released.
Batteries and accumulators may explode if damaged or excessively heated and may cause poisoning, burns, corrosion or pollution.

Improper disposal of the product will allow unauthorized persons to use the product incorrectly.
The product must not be disposed of with household waste. The device and accessories must be
disposed of in accordance with the regulations (see chap. 9 / Disposal).
Secure the product at all times against access by unauthorized persons, in particular by
children.

4.5 ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY (EMC)
Electromagnetic compatibility means the ability of products to operate without problems in an environment subject to electronic radiation and electrostatic discharges, without however causing electromagnetic interference in other devices.

4.5.1 Interference caused by the REC LRD0 / LGD0 handheld receiver to other devices
The device meets the strict requirements of the applicable directives and standards, but SOLA cannot however, the risk of interference with other devices (e.g. if you use the device with third-party devices such as field computers, PC, radio devices, mobile phones, some cables or external batteries).

  • When using computers and radio devices, observe the manufacturer’s instructions for electromagnetic compatibility.
  • Only use original SOLA equipment or accessories.

4.5.2 Interference caused to the REC LRD0 / LGD0 handheld receiver by other devices
The product meets the strict requirements of the directives and standards in force, but SOLA cannot however, erroneous measurement results due to interference cannot be 100% ruled out electromagnetic radiation in the direct vicinity of broadcast transmitters, transceivers, diesel generators, etc.

In case of measurements under these conditions, please check the plausibility of the results

5. Commissioning

  1. Open the battery compartment cover to the back of the device.
  2. Place the batteries in the REC LRD0 / LGD0 handheld receiver respecting the polarity.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover (until an audible click).
  4. Only use batteries of type 9 V 6F22 (block cell)!
  5. Remove the batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period of time.

6. Use

6.1 Switching on / off

Walk : Press the “ON/OFF” button.
Stop: Press the “ON/OFF” button for 3 seconds (the hand-held receiver switches off automatically after 7 minutes if not in use).

  • Face the operating surface of the receiver towards the laser device and make sure that that the receiving window is perpendicular to the line plane.

  • Raise and lower the receiver until a signal is transmitted and/or until arrows directions appear on the screen.

  • If the receiver’s marking point is located above the laser beam, a rapid pulsing beep
    sounds and a down arrow appears on the screen.

  • Move the receiver down according to the direction of the arrow displayed on the screen.

  • If the receiver’s marking point is located below the laser beam, a slow beep pulse sounds and an up arrow appears on the screen.

  • Move the receiver upwards, in accordance with the direction of the arrow displayed on the screen.

  • In the event of a continuous signal and/or when only the intermediate bar is visible, the marking point is located exactly on the laser beam.

  • Mark the height of the laser beam at the marking points using a pencil.

  • The vial allows you to place the receiver upright. The marking points are then at the same height left and right.

6.2 Accuracy
The REC LRD0 / LGD0 manual receiver has two accuracy classes: the “fine” class (symbol -> -), with a precision of 0.5 mm and the “approximate” class (symbol -> =), with a 2.0mm accuracy.

  • Switch on the REC LRD0 / LGD0 handheld receiver.
  • Press the “ACC” button to switch from one accuracy class to another.

6.3 Acoustic signal

At the REC LRD0 / LGD0 handheld receiver it is possible to adjust the sound signal.

Three variants are available:
speaker only: intermediate volume;
loudspeaker with three features: very high volume;
no speaker: mute.
Switch on the REC LRD0 / LGD0 handheld receiver.
Press the “VOL” key to switch from one variant to another.

6.4 Display illumination
The REC LRD0 / LGD0 handheld receiver has a backlight for the front and rear displays.

7. Accuracy check

Check the accuracy of the REC LRD0 / LGD0 handheld receiver before each measurement.
Before starting the check, allow the device to acclimate to its surroundings.

  1.  Place the line laser on a stable support (example: tripod), then turn it on (pulse mode).

  2.  Turn the receiver operating surface toward the laser device and make sure that the reception window is perpendicular to the line plane.
    Raise and lower the receiver until the emission of a signal and/or until directional arrows appear on the screen.
    Place the receiver at the height of the marking points (in case of continuous signal and/or when only the bar intermediate is visible, the marking point is located exactly on the laser beam).
    Mark the height of the laser beam at the points of marking with a pencil.

  3. Rotate the receiver 180° and ensure that the viewing window reception is perpendicular to the line plane.
    Raise and lower the receiver until the emission of a signal and/or until directional arrows appear on the screen.
    Place the receiver at the height of the marking points (in case of continuous signal and/or when only the bar intermediate is visible, the marking point is located exactly on the laser beam).
    Mark the height of the laser beam at the points of marking with a pencil.
    The vertical distance d between the marked points and must be at maximum of 0.5 mm for the “fine” accuracy class or 2.0 mm maximum for “approximate” accuracy class.

8. Maintenance, storage and transport

8.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the device with a soft damp cloth.
  • Do not use harsh detergents or solvents.
  • Do not immerse the device in water!
  • Clean and dry dirty and damp devices, accessories and transport receivers before the conditioning. Only put the equipment away when it is completely dry.

8.2 Storage
8.2.1 General

  • Equipment should only be stored within the specified temperature range (see chapter 3 / Technical characteristics).
  • After prolonged storage, check the accuracy of the meter before use.

8.2.2 Batteries / accumulators

  • Remove batteries and accumulators from the device for storage.
  • Storage should be as far as possible at room temperature. and in a dry place (see chapter 3 / Technical specifications).

8.3 Transportation
8.3.1 General

  • The device can be damaged by violent jolts or falls.
  • Never transport the product out of its packaging. Always use the original packaging or similar transport packaging.
  • Switch off the meter before transport.
  • Check the device for damage before commissioning.

8.3.2 Batteries / accumulators

When transporting or shipping batteries and accumulators, the operator must observe the instructions and national and international provisions in force.

  • Remove the batteries from the device before shipping.

9. Disposal

Improper disposal can cause you or third parties serious injury and lead to significant environmental pollution.
When burning plastic parts, poisonous gases harmful to health are released.
Batteries and accumulators may explode if damaged or excessively heated and can consequently cause poisoning, burns, corrosion or pollution.
Improper disposal of the product will allow unauthorized persons to use the product from improper manner.
Measuring tools, accessories and packaging must be subject to environmentally friendly recycling.
Products and accessories, in particular batteries and accumulators, must not be disposed of with household waste.
The product and accessories must be disposed of in accordance with the regulations.

10. Manufacturer’s warranty

The manufacturer warrants to the purchaser indicated on the warranty card (first purchaser) the absence of
defects on the device for a period of two years from the date of handover, with the exception of accumulators / batteries. The warranty is limited, according to the decision of the manufacturer, to repairs and / or replacement. Any defect resulting from improper handling by the buyer or by third parties, any natural wear, as well as optical defects that do not impair the proper functioning of the device are not covered by the warranty. In order to be able to benefit from the right of guarantee, it is necessary for us send the device and the warranty card duly completed by the purchaser, indicating the date and with company stamp.

In the event of a warranty claim, the manufacturer reimburses the transport costs. The duration of warranty is not extended due to repairs or work using spare parts performed under warranty.

Further claims are excluded unless mandatory national regulations preclude this.
The manufacturer cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect consequential damages / damages, neither losses nor costs which are linked to the use or impossibility of use of the device for well determined. Implied warranty promises as to usability or suitability for a specific purpose are explicitly excluded.
