General safety

WARNING! Health hazard

  • This appliance shall only be used with a Kampa butane gas cartridge (ref. no. 9120000991) or other P220 cartridges complying with EN 417.
  • It may be hazardous to attempt to fit other types of gas container.
  • Only use outdoors in well ventilated areas.
  • Carbon Monoxide hazard Using this appliance in an enclosed space may cause death. Do not use in caravans, tents, marine craft, cars, mobile homes or similar locations.
  • Do not modify this device.
Safety precautions when handling liquid gas

WARNING! Health hazard

  • After use always remove the gas cartridge.
  • Never insert or remove the gas cartridge indoors, in badly ventilated areas, near other people, near heat sources or when the device is still warm.
  • Minimum clearance on all sides and above from combustible materials is 45 cm.
  • Store gas cartridges away from heating or cooking devices and other light or heat sources in a well-ventilated area out of the reach of children.
  • Never store gas cartridges in unventilated areas or below ground level (funnel-shaped holes in the ground).
  • Never store gas cartridges in buildings such as garages.
  • Do not store gas cartridges on their side.
  • Keep gas cartridges away from direct sunlight. The temperature should not exceed 50 °C.

Operating the device safely

WARNING! Health hazard

  • Suffocation hazard.
    While burning liquid gas, the device also consumes oxygen. When used indoors, there is a risk of suffocation due to insufficient oxygen. Only use the device outdoors. Under no circumstances use it indoors. Never use the device in a garage, porch or tent.

  • If there is a leak on your device (smell of gas): ­
    – Immediately attempt to switch the cartridge lock lever to the “unlock” position (fig. )
    – Remove the device to a well-ventilated location away from any ignition source.
    – Check for leaks using soapy water.
    – Do not try to detect leaks using a flame.
    – If the odor continues, keep away from the device and immediately call your gas supplier or your fire department.

  • Do not use this device if it is leaking, damaged or does not operate properly.

  • Check that the seal between the device and the gas cartridge is in place and in good condition before inserting the gas cartridge.

  • Do not use the device if the seal is damaged or worn.

  • This device can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the device in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

  • Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.

  • Cleaning shall not be conducted by children without supervision.

  • Only operate the device when you or another person can attend to it.

  • Wear appropriate clothing when using the device. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing which could easily catch fire.

  • Do not move the device during operation.

  • Leave the device to cool down properly before you touch it with bare hands.

  • The device is very hot when you use it. Leave the device to cool down before cleaning, packing, transporting or stowing in a tent or awning tent.

  • This device must only be serviced by an authorized person.

  • Never change the nozzle, injector or burner.

  • Use the device for cooking only. Never use it for other purposes.

  • Do not use the device as a space heater.

  • Do not use the device near combustible materials.

  • Keep the area around the device free from fat, alcoholic substances, plastic and flammable materials (e.g. curtains, cloths or kitchen materials).

  • Accessible parts may be very hot. Keep young children away from the device.

Intended use

The gas cartridge oven is intended for mobile use outdoors only.
The device is intended for heating up or cooking food.
This product is only suitable for the intended purpose and application in accordance with these instructions.
This manual provides information that is necessary for proper installation and/or operation of the product. Poor installation and/or improper operating or maintenance will result in unsatisfactory performance and a possible failure.
The manufacturer accepts no liability for any injury or damage to the product resulting from:

  • Incorrect assembly or connection, including excess voltage
  • Incorrect maintenance or use of spare parts other than original spare parts provided by the manufacturer
  • Alterations to the product without express permission from the manufacturer
  • Use for purposes other than those described in this manual

Kampa reserves the right to change product appearance and product specifications.

Before initial use

➤Remove all packaging.
➤Always use Kampa butane gas cartridges (ref. no. 9120000991, not supplied) or other type P220 cartridges complying with EN 417.

The oven will not ignite unless the timer is set and will extinguish when the time expires.

Placing the device

When selecting the location for setting up the device, observe the following instructions:

  • Position the device outdoors.
  • The place must be well-ventilated. Do not place it in a dip to prevent any gases from accumulating there.
  • Keep the device protected from the wind and direct drafts.
  • The ground must be firm, level and stable.
  • Never place the device near or on flammable materials, even when cooling down. Keep a distance of at least 45 cm to flammable materials.
  • The device must stand on a base that can withstand heat of up to at least 80 °C. The housing and oven cabinet become very hot when in use.
  • Observe the safety instructions, see chapter “Safety precautions when handling liquid gas” on page 7.

WARNING! Explosion hazard
Check that the seal (fig. )  is in place and in good condition.

  1. Proceed as shown (fig. ) Do not use excessive force. If the cartridge lock lever will not push down, check the position of the notch (fig. )
  2. If ignition does not occur wait two minutes and repeat the steps.
  3. If you hear a hissing noise, the gas cartridge has not been fitted correctly. Release the cartridge lock lever and reposition the cartridge.
Igniting the oven

WARNING! Health hazard Do not leave the device unattended while in use.

NOTE

  • While it is operating, you will be able to hear a slight noise caused by the gas flowing out. This is completely normal.
  • Smoke can occur when using it for the first time. This is caused by deposits of machine oil burning. The smoking stops after approx. 10 minutes.
  • During the heating-up phase of approx. 2 minutes, the flame pattern may be irregular. If you notice an irregular flame pattern afterwards or blocked burner ports, clean the oven tube burner, see chapter “Cleaning and maintenance” on page 10.

Removing the gas cartridge

WARNING! Health hazard

  • Remove the gas cartridge in a wellventilated location.
  • Ensure that there are no open flames in the vicinity.
  • Only remove the gas cartridge when the device is switched off and has cooled down.

The cartridge may be disconnected even if some gas remains.

  1. Proceed as shown (fig. , and fig. )
  2. Check the condition of the seal (fig. ). Let the seal be replaced by a qualified person if material is brittle or porous.
  3. Check the content of the cartridge by shaking and listening for the liquid gas.
Moving and storing the device

Proceed as follows:

  1. Turn off the device (see chapter “Turning off the oven” on page 10).
  2. Remove the gas cartridge from the device after the device has cooled down (see chapter “Removing the gas cartridge” on page 10).
  3. Clean the device (see chapter “Cleaning and maintenance” on page 10).
  4. Do not transport or store the device with the gas cartridge inserted.
  5. Store the device on a level, stable place out of the reach of children.

Troubleshooting

Due to unforeseen circumstances the appliance may not operate as designed.
Indications of this are flashing back in the burner, and the appliance not igniting or remaining alight.

  1. In these cases, check the gas cartridge to ensure there is sufficient gas, no leaks and the control knob (fig. ) is opened sufficiently for use. If this is the case and the problem/s still persists, you will need to contact a suitably qualified authorized person to service your appliance.
  2. Immediately switch the cartridge lock lever (fig. ) to the “unlock” position.
  3. Check again that the device has been assembled correctly and the parts are undamaged, especially the gas cartridge and the seal.
  4. Let the damaged parts be replaced by a qualified technician. Repairs to the gas supply parts on the device may only be carried out by a qualified technician.
  5. Only use the device again once all the faults have been rectified.
  6. If the oven fails to light or its performance decreases, consult a qualified technician.

For repair and warranty processing, please include the following documents when you send in the device:

  • A copy of the receipt with purchase date
  • A reason for the claim or description of the fault

Disposal

➤Place the packaging material in the appropriate recycling waste bins, wherever possible.

If you wish to finally dispose of the product, ask your local recycling center or specialist dealer for details about how to do this in accordance with the applicable disposal regulations.
