INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing the Starlyf® Pressure Cooker. This incredible machine is set to become your greatest ally in the kitchen. Use it to cook a wide range of recipes without spending hours in the kitchen. Your Starlyf® Pressure Cooker will take care of the cooking while you get on with something else, either indoors or outdoors. Simply place the ingredients in the pot and select the appropriate programme. It’s that easy! What’s more, the practical timer function allows you to decide when you want your food to be ready. This means that your food is freshly cooked and hot when you return from work, when the kids get home from school or when you get home after a workout at the gym.

To get the best possible results from your Starlyf® Pressure Cooker, please ensure that you read and understand the instructions and know how the product works.

SAFETY WARNINGS

  • Read the instructions carefully before using the product and store them for future reference. Failure to observe and comply with these instructions could result in an accident.
  • This appliance shall not be used by children. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children.
  • Use only accessories recommended by the manufacturer to prevent damage and/or injury.
  • Use Starlyf® Pressure Cooker indoors on a dry surface.
  • The level of water and ingredients must never exceed 4/5 of the capacity of the pot to avoid spillage on the connector.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces without oven gloves.
  • The heating element surface is subject to residual heat after use. Please don’t touch it after use.
  • Do not use Starlyf® Pressure Cooker if the power cord or plug is damaged.
  • Unplug your Starlyf® Pressure Cooker when it is not in use and before you clean it. Switch the machine off before unplugging it.
  • Do not unplug your Starlyf® Pressure Cooker with wet hands.
  • Do not cover the steam valve on the upper lid. Use caution when steam is being released through the valve, as it can cause burns.
  • When lifting the lid, take care not to be burned by the steam.
  • When removing the inner pot from your Starlyf® Pressure Cooker while it is hot, the use of cloths or oven gloves is recommended to protect your hands against burns.
  • Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
  • Children shall not play with the appliance.
  • WARNING: Position the lid so that the steam is released away from the handle.
  • WARNING: Do not remove the lid while the water is boiling.
  • This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:
  • staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
  • farm houses;
  • By clients in hotels, motels and other residential type envyronments;
  •  Bed and breakfast type environments.
  • The appliance must not be immersed
  • The ducts in the pressure regulator allowing the escape of steam should be checked regularly to ensure that they are not blocked
  • The container must not be opened until the pressure has decreased sufficiently. 5

  • There is a potential injury from misuse.

Instructions for use

Before first use
  • Ensure that you have removed all packaging from the product.
  • Remove all accessories.
  • Before using the product for the first time, clean the parts that are in contact with food, as described in the Cleaning section.
  • To remove any smells left over from the manufacturing process, half-fill the pot with water, close the lid and heat it. Ten minutes after releasing the pressure using the pressure valve, open the lid and pour the water out.

Hold the lid handle firmly, turn it clockwise until it loosens (Fig. 1), then gently pull upwards (Fig. 2).

OPEN

  • Remove the pot (6) and add the ingredients.

  • If you are cooking foods that increase in volume when cooked, do not fill the pot more than 3/5 full or less than 1/5 full (Fig. 4-5).

Closing the lid
  • Before closing the lid, check that the rubber seal (17) is in the correct position.
    Important: If the rubber seal is damaged, do not use the pressure cooker and contact the customer service department.

  • Hold the lid by the handle and turn it anticlockwise until it is in the closed position (Fig. 6).

    Note: To check that the lid is properly closed (2), ensure that the pressure regulator valve (3) is on your left (when you are facing the control panel, 10).
    Move the pressure regulator valve (3) to the
    Airtight position and ensure that the floating valve has lowered.
    When moving the pressure regulator valve
    (3) to the Airtight position (maintain pressure) or Exhaust position (release pressure), the marks on the pressure regulator valve (3) should be lined up with the arrow on the handle (Fig. 7-8).

  • Select the required cooking function and the corresponding light will turn on to indicate that the chosen function is running.

  • The display will flash for a few seconds to indicate that there is still time to change the programme (by pressing the required programme) or change the duration of the programme (by pressing the Cooking standard button).

  • The display will then stop flashing and the machine will beep to indicate that the programme has started.

  • You can press Warm/Cancel to interrupt the programme at any time.

  • While Starlyf® Pressure Cooker heats up and until it reaches the correct pressure, the display will show the cooking time alongside a flashing number on the left-hand side.

  • When the number stops flashing, the cooker has reached the correct pressure and the selected programme has started.

  • From this moment on, the time will start to count down on the display.

  • When the programme ends, the Keep Warm function will automatically activate.
    The corresponding indicator will light up.

Important:

  • If the temperature of the cooker is too high, the Keep Warm indicator will flash.
  • Press the Warm/Cancel button again to cancel this function.
  • Before opening the cooker, you must release the pressure by opening the pressure regulator valve very carefully.
  • When the valve has lowered, you may open the lid.
  • When you are cooking liquids such as soup and stock, never open the pressure regulator valve while the Keep Warm function is running. Wait until the cooker has cooled down a little.
  • If you fail to do this, liquid may leak from the pressure regulator valve and cause burns.
  • Stop the pressure cooker before opening the lid by pressing the Warm/Cancel button.

OPERATION

Preset options: Fish/Vegetables, Rice, Meat/ Chicken, Baby Cereals, Cake, Tendons/ Beans, Soup, Congee.

The cooking times are preset for quick and easy cooking.

You may change cooking times according to your preferences.

Always check the expiry date of ingredients.
Using out-of-date ingredients is dangerous for your health and may affect the quality of the finished dish.

  • Once you have selected the start time, choose your required preset option.
  • Select one of the eight preset options and the cooking intensity.
  • The corresponding indicator will light up.
  • Once you have done this, your Starlyf® Pressure Cooker will start counting down from three hours.
  • Your Starlyf® Pressure Cooker will then start cooking.
  • When cooking is complete, the machine will beep and the Keep Warm function will automatically activate.

Carefully measure the ingredients according to the recipe. Based on the results, you can make minor changes to adapt the recipe to your individual preferences. If you are cooking a recipe for the first time, we recommend that you use indicated in the recipe.

For best results, the ingredients should be at room temperature.

PRESET (TIMER)

  • If you want to programme your Starlyf® Pressure Cooker to start cooking later, you can do so with the timer button (Q).

  • It can be programmed up to 24 hours in advance.

  • Remove the pot and place it on a flat, stable surface.

  • Prepare the food you wish to cook, place it in the pot and then return the pot to the cooker.

  • Close the lid (2) and turn it anticlockwise.

  • Ensure that the pressure regulator valve (3) is in the Airtight position (maintain pressure).

  • Connect the device to the mains.

  • The LED display will show “00:00”.

  • Press the timer button (Preset).

  • The LED display will show “00:30”, which indicates that the food would start cooking in 30 minutes.

  • Each time you press the timer button (Preset), the time will increase by 30 minutes.
    You can programme Starlyf® Pressure Cooker to start cooking after a minimum of 30 minutes and up to a maximum of 24 hours.

  • When the maximum 24 hours is reached, the timer will start from 00:00 again.

  • Once your Starlyf® Pressure Cooker has been programmed, you can choose one of the preset options or set the cooking time.

For example:

  • If you want Starlyf® Pressure Cooker to start cooking automatically in three hours:
    • Press the timer button (Preset) until the LED display shows “03:00”.
    • The letters “bb” will appear on the LED display during this cycle and the indicator will light up.
    • Note: It takes approximately 10-15 minutes for all the pressure to be released.

KEEP WARM/CANCEL

  • This function allows you to keep food warm after it has been cooked.
  • To ensure that food retains its flavour and appearance, this function should not be used for more than four hours.
  • Using the Keep Warm option for more than four hours may alter the flavour and 7 appearance of food.
  • The Keep Warm function can be activated manually or automatically once cooking is complete.
  • The Keep Warm function does not switch off automatically.

If you want Starlyf® Pressure Cooker to operate in Keep Warm mode:

  • Prepare the food you wish to cook, place it in the pot and then return the pot to the cooker.
  • Close the lid (2) and turn it anticlockwise.
  • Check that the pressure regulator valve (3) is in the Airtight position (maintain pressure).
  • Connect the device to the mains.
  • The LED display will show “00:00”.
  • Press the Warm/Cancel button.
  • The corresponding indicator will light up and the letters “bb” will appear on the display.
  • We recommend that you turn the pressure regulator valve to the Exhaust position (release pressure), since the intention is only to keep the food warm.
  • Starlyf® Pressure Cooker will then keep the food warm.
  • To cancel, press the Warm/Cancel button.
    The corresponding pilot light will switch off.

RELEASE PRESSURE

  • Before opening the lid, release the pressure naturally.
  • If you are using the natural release method, do not turn the pressure regulator valve after cooking.
  • Around 10-20 minutes after cooking has finished, you can turn the pressure regulator valve to the right or left.
  • If no steam is released from the pressure regulator valve when it is turned, this means that there is no pressure left inside the cooker.
  • To use the quick release method, turn the pressure regulator valve to the Exhaust position.
  • Important: Use a glove or utensil when releasing the pressure. Keep your hands and face away from the pressure outlet when the regulator valve is in the Exhaust position.

CLEANING

  • When a programme is finished, switch off the device and leave it to cool down before cleaning it.
  • We recommend cleaning Starlyf® Pressure Cooker regularly to remove all traces of food.
  • Switch off the device and leave it to cool down before you start any cleaning.
  • Always make sure that the device is depressurized and completely cold before cleaning it.
  • Remove the water collector (12), clean it and dry it.
  • Clean the lid, rubber seal, pressure regulator and filter with a damp cloth before drying them.
  • All components except for the electrical part and power cord can be cleaned with soap and water or in the dishwasher. Always rinse them to remove traces of soap.

Cleaning the outer part of the lid and body:

  • Clean with a damp cloth and soap.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the control panel.
  • Make sure that there are no traces of food in the steam outlet.

Cleaning the inner part of the Starlyf® Pressure Cooker:

  • Remove the pot (6) from the device. Wipe it with a damp cloth and a few drops of soap before drying it.
  • Do not use solvents, products with an acid pH, bleach or abrasive products to clean your Starlyf® Pressure Cooker.
  • To clean the heating element (15):
    • Remove the pot (6).
    • Clean the heating element (15) with a damp cloth.
  • To clean the rubber seal (9):
    • Soak in hot water and clean with a sponge.
Cleaning the accessories:
  • Spoon and measuring cup: place in hot water and wash with a sponge.
    IMPORTANT: never pour water directly into or onto your Starlyf® Pressure Cooker or place it under a running tap. Do not use scouring powder or other abrasive products.

  • The following parts can be washed with hot soapy water or in the dishwasher (gentle cycle):

    • Pot
    • Measuring cup
    • Spoon
  • Ensure that your Starlyf® Pressure Cooker is completely cold before storing it away

Disposal of materials

A symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin means you should find out about and follow local regulations about disposing of this kind of product. Do not dispose of this product as you would other household waste.
Dispose of this device in accordance with the corresponding local regulations.
Electrical and electronic devices contain hazardous substances that can have harmful effects on the environment and/or human health and should be recycled properly.

Warranty

Warranty: This product is covered by a warranty against manufacturing defects subject to the time periods stipulated by the legislation in force in each country.
This warranty does not cover damages resulting from inadequate use, negligent commercial use, abnormal wear and tear, accidents or improper handling.

Australia & New Zealand only
This product has the benefit of certain Consumer Guarantees. These are prescribed by the Australian Consumer Law & the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, both of which provide protection for consumers. There is no express warranty for this product in Australia or New Zealand. The above paragraph refers to other countries.

This product complies with Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EC, Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2014/30/EC and RoHS Directive 2011/65/EC restricting the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

Troubleshooting

Problem
The lid does not close properly.| Cause
The rubber seal is not in the correct position.| Solution
Make sure that the rubber seal is correctly positioned under the lid.
