GENERAL SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following:
Read all instructions before using the appliance.

  1. To avoid fire or electric shock hazard, plug the appliance directly into a 230-240V AC electrical outlet. Do not use this heater with a programmer, timer or any other device that switches the heater on automatically, since a fire risk exists if the heater is covered or positioned incorrectly.

  2. The appliance is hot when in use. To avoid burns, DO NOT touch any hot surfaces. Keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, and curtains at least 3.3 ft (1 m) from the front of the heater and keep them away from the sides and rear.

  3. WARNING: In order to avoid overheating, DO NOT COVER the heater.

  4. To prevent a possible fire, DO NOT block air intakes or exhaust vents in any manner. DO NOT use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where openings may become blocked.

  5. DO NOT move the appliance when it is operating. Only move the appliance when it is cool.

  6. DO NOT run cord under carpeting. DO NOT cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or the like. Position the cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tipped over.

  7. Do not abuse or damage the power cord. Fully unwind the cord before use as a coiled cord may overheat. Do not allow the supply cord to touch hot surfaces.

  8. Discontinue use if plug or outlet is hot. It is recommended that the mains power outlet be replaced by an electrician if plug or outlet is too hot to touch.

  9. Connect to a suitable mains power socket, corresponding to the electrical ratings on the heater. Do not overload the household mains power circuit.

  10. This appliance is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas and similar locations where this it may come in contact with water. NEVER locate the heater where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container.

  11. Do not use this heater in the immediate surroundings of a bath, a shower or a swimming pool.

  12. Do not immerse any part of this appliance or supply cord in water. Do not use with wet hands or use in any damp conditions.

  13. Extreme caution is necessary when any appliance is used by, or near children or invalids, and whenever the appliance is left operating and unattended.

  14. Always unplug the appliance when not in use.

  15. When unplugging, be sure to pull by the plug and not the cord.

  16. DO NOT insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust vent opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the appliance.

  17. DO NOT operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the retail store or qualified service agent for examination, electrical or mechanical adjustment, or repair.

  18. The appliance has hot and parts that spark inside. DO NOT use it in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored.

  19. Use appliance only for intended household use only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the manufacturer may cause safety hazards.

  20. This appliance is designed for indoors ONLY. DO NOT use outdoors.

  21. To disconnect the appliance, turn the ON/OFF control switch to “OFF” (Position ‘0’) BEFORE removing the plug from main power outlet.

  22. Avoid the use of an extension cords, extension cord may overheat and cause a risk of fire.

  23. DO NOT attempt to service this appliance yourself. Return it to a qualified service agent for repair.

  24. Keep this instruction with the appliance. If the appliance is to be used by a third party, this instruction must be supplied with the item.

  25. The safety instructions do not by themselves eliminate any danger completely, proper accident prevention measures and common sense must always be used.

  26. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (INCLUDING CHILDREN) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

  27. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance

  28. Heater must not be located immediately below a socket-outlet

  29. NO liability can be accepted for any damage caused by non-compliance with these instructions or any other improper use or mishandling.

  30. The safety fireguard of this heater is intended to prevent direct access to heating elements and must be in place when the heater is in use.

  31. The safety fireguard does not provide full protection to young children and for infirm persons.

  32. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified electrical person only or the heater must be disposed of, in order to avoid a hazard.

  33. WARNING! This heater is not equipped with a device to control the room temperature.
    Do not use this heater in small rooms when they are occupied by persons not capable of leaving the room on their own, unless constant supervision is provided.

  34. WARNING: Fire risk exists if the heater is covered by or positioned close to curtains or other combustible materials.

  35. Do not use this heater if there are visible signs of damage to the heater

  36. Use this heater on a horizontal and stable surface.

  37. Do not use this heater if it has been dropped.

  38. For cleaning the reflector, please refer to the “Cleaning and Maintenance” section.
    WARNING : Do not use this heater in small rooms when they are occupied by persons not capable of leaving the room on their own, unless constant supervision is provided.
    WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, keep textiles, curtains, or any other flammable material a minimum distance of 1m from the air outlet.

ASSEMBLY AND OPERATION

THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE CONNECTE TO AN EARTHED POWER OUTLET SOCKET.

  • Ensure that all three power control switches are in the OFF position (0) before connecting to mains power.
  • Make sure the appliance, including the plug and cord, is not damaged.
  • Insert power plug into a wall socket with correct power output, 230-240V 50Hz.
  • Switch ON one or more power ON/OFF control switches to operate the heater.anko-BL24A-Radian-Heater-fig2
  • Switch① (800W), Top heating element
  • Switch② (800W), Bottom heating element.
  • Switch③ (800W), Centre heating element.

NOTE: the power control switches can be operated independently or all three switches can be operated together for high heat.
NOTE: The heater is fitted with a safety tip over switch. If the heater is knocked over, the power to the heater will shut off automatically.
NOTE: If you notice that there is a slight vibration while turning ON the appliance, do not be alarmed. It is normal for this heater and the vibration should gradually fade away.
WARNING! FOR ELECTRICAL SAFETY THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE
PLUGGED INTO AN EARTHED SOCKET OUTLET! – If you are uncertain, please consult an electrician.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Before cleaning

  • When not in use or before cleaning, always disconnect the appliance from mains power supply.

Cleaning

  • Cleaning must be done only when the unit has cooled down completely.
  • Do not immerse the whole unit in water or other liquid.
  • Do not use harsh solvents on the unit.
  • Wipe the exterior of the appliance with a soft damp cloth.
  • Dry the unit completely with a dry cloth.

IMPORTANT! Check for damage

  • Always check that the appliance is in good working order, there is no damage visible and all parts are secure.
  • Check the power supply cord and plug regularly for cuts or damage. If any damage is visible on the product DO NOT use the heater.

Store in a safe place

  • When not in use, store your appliance and instruction manual in a safe and dry place away from moisture and heat.
    NOTE: Always clean and store away your appliance with this instruction manual when not in use.

Kmart will bear the reasonable expense of claiming the warranty. This warranty will no longer apply where the defect is a result of alteration, accident, misuse, abuse or neglect.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
For New Zealand customers, this warranty is in addition to statutory rights observed under New Zealand legislation.
