Safety instructions

IMPORTANT:

Before using the HomeBox, read these instruc-tions carefully and keep them for future reference. Hand over these instructions to any new owner of the HomeBox.

WARNING:

Electrical voltages at mains connections and on telephone and network cables are dangerous! Failure to observe the safety instructions can lead to hazardous situations that may not only result in major damage to property, but also in serious injury or death.

  • The HomeBox must not be opened.
  • Do not install the HomeBox or plug or unplug any cable connections during a thunderstorm.
  • The HomeBox has been designed for use only in dry building interiors.
  • The mains socket must be located close to the HomeBox and be easily accessible.
  • Route the cables so that no one can step on or trip over them.
  • Do not allow liquids to enter the HomeBox interior, as this may result in an electric shock or short circuit.
  • Avoid exposing the HomeBox to direct sunlight.
  • Before drilling, ensure no building services equipment is present at the drilling location. Damage to gas, electricity or signal lines, or to water pipes may be hazardous to life and may damage property.
  • The HomeBox may only be operated using the original power supply unit (included in delivery).

3-step easy installation

Prepare installation

Connect the œ HomeBox to your indoor TAE socket (middle socket) or the fibre optic junction box (lower connection). The type of connection depends on the network equipment being used. More information can be found in the order confirmation from œ . For TAE connec-tions, use the grey DSL cable. For fibre optic connections, use the yellow LAN cable. You can then connect your phones to the œ HomeBox and establish a WLAN connection with your PC (see „WLAN first-time setup“ below). To do this, switch on the œ HomeBox.

Set up internet connection

Now open an internet browser via a device connected to the œ HomeBox and enter the address œ.box or 192.168.1.1. The setup wizard that opens automatically assists you in entering a password, configuring the internet connection and activating the connection. Start surfing and phoning

Your œ HomeBox 6742 is now configured for internet access and phoning. If necessary, use the phone menu to configure the connected telephones. The HomeBox is factory set for all connected telephones to ring for incoming calls.

WLAN first-time setup

  1. Switch on your device‘s WLAN function (on your PC, smartphone, tablet, etc.) and make sure that the WLAN function is also activated on your œ HomeBox (WLAN LED lights up). If not, activate it by pressing the button on the HomeBox‘s right.
  2. N ow connect your device to the œ HomeBox. This procedure differs for different operating systems (Windows, Android, macOS, Linux, etc.). Refer to your device‘s manual for more information.
  3. Select the wireless network for your œ HomeBox 6742. The network name (SSID) and the network key (WLAN key) can be found on the type plate on the rear of the œ HomeBox 6742.
  4. Click on „Connect“ and enter your WLAN network key (WLAN key).
  5. Alternatively, you can scan the QR code for easy WLAN setup and connection.
  6. The WLAN connection is now setup.

WPS setup

WPS (WLAN Protected Setup) allows you to easily and quickly connect new WLAN devices to your wireless home network. Devices to be connected must support the WPS function.

  1. Press the WLAN button on the œ HomeBox for at least 3 seconds. The WLAN LED will flash green continuously.
  2. Within 2 minutes, you can now activate the WPS function on the WLAN device. Follow the operating instructions of the WLAN device.
  3. A successful WLAN connection is displayed on the WLAN device, and the œ HomeBox‘s WLAN LED lights up, either permanently or flashing (when there is data traffic).
