FAQ and Troubleshooting

  1. Which devices does it support?
It works with iOS devices via Bluetooth LE and Android or Windows devices at classic Bluetooth mode. Remember not to pair with VEEPEAK from the iOS Bluetooth Setting. For some Android head units, change the default pairing pin to 1234 in the Bluetooth setting before pairing. Some head units are not supported due to their incomplete Bluetooth profile support.

  2. When I try to connect “VEEPEAK” via Bluetooth it tells me it is not supported.
On iOS devices, you will see this error when trying to connect Bluetooth LE devices from the system Bluetooth Setting. You do not need to connect here. Please restart your iOS device so “VEEPEAK” shows up again on Bluetooth. Then start the app to connect.

  3. Could not pair with Android.
Turn off Bluetooth and turn it back on (sometimes a few times); restart your phone; disconnect any other Bluetooth devices from your phone; clear Bluetooth cache/storage: Settings — Apps (show system) — Bluetooth — Storage & Cache, clear and restart the phone. If VEEPEAK is paired with your Android phone, but stays connected tor only a few seconds then becomes previously connected device, don’t worry, normally it’s still connected. You just start the app, and see if you can select VEEPEAK as the Bluetooth device to connect.

  4. Can I leave the device plugged in all the time?
OBD2 connector is always powered for most vehicles. As it uses low energy Bluetooth, you can leave the device plugged in from days to 3 weeks depending on the battery condition.
However, it’s always recommended to remove it when it’s not in use.

  5. “VEEPEAK” is not showing up on my phone’s Bluetooth device list.
If blue light (data indicator for BLE+) does not flash once when it’s plugged in, check the cigar fuse of your vehicle (a blown fuse is usually the problem for no power to OBD2 connector). You can also try on another vehicle to verify.

  6. App does not connect to the Veepeak device.
Make sure the App is compatible and the correct connection settings is made. Remove and re-install the app; then try with another app.

  7. Cannot connect to a vehicle (or ECU).
First check the vehicle compatibility with the App. Verify if your vehicle is OBD2 compliant and the ignition is turned on.Also start the vehicle to try. Then try it on another vehicle if possible.

  8. Which sensor readings can I get?
02 Readings, Engine Coolant Temperature, Speed, Fuel Trim, and more. Readable parameters depend on what’s installed on the OBDII system by the manufacturer. Generally, newer vehicles will give more readings and faster refresh speed. Some readings like transmission temp, balance rates are manufacturer-specific and you will need add custom PIDs in the app or use a capable app.
