Diagnostic Code Reader Scan Tool

The Veepeak OBDCheck VP11 is an easy-to-use inexpensive and small OBD2 device that turns your Bluetooth-enabled Android or Windows smartphone or tablet into a sophisticated diagnostic scan tool and real-time parameter monitor. Read and clear trouble codes, reset Check Engine light as well as display live sensor readings with the use of a downloaded OBD2 App such as Torque. The adapter works on OBD Il compliant vehicles and is a very useful little gadget that will save you time and money.

Note

  • It’s recommended that you unplug the device if it will not be used for some time (on cars with old batteries, the time should be shorter).
  • Do not have any operations on the app while driving. Always focus on driving.
  • Simply erasing the trouble code does not mean the fault has been solved. You should repair your vehicle as soon as possible.
  • Not all trouble codes can be read as OBD2 is primarily designed for engine diagnostics systems. Other systems like ABS, SRS, VSC,
TPMS etc. use different protocols to communicate so check the app capabilities.
Generally what you can do with the device depends on what features the app provides.

FAQs and Troubleshooting

  1. Is an app required?
An OBD2 app is required to work with the adapter and the functions you can get mainly depend on the app you use. It requires a download from the Google Play Store and some may need separate purchases.

  2. Does it work with iOS devices? Or Android head units?
Unfortunately, the VP11 does not work with iOS due to Apple’s limitations. You should choose the Bluetooth LE (4.0) model for iOS. The Vp11 may have compatibility issue with some Android head units and we do not have a support list due to the complexity of the market.

  3. Could not pair with “OBDII”
Turn off & on Bluetooth; restart your phone and try again. When OBDIl shows as paired, connected, or previously connected, you can start the app to connect.

  4. Can I leave the adapter plugged in all the time?
You can leave the adapter plugged in all the time if your car battery is not too old. If you leave your car sitting for more than 1 week, we recommend that you remove the adapter.

  5. “OBDIl” is not showing up on my phone’s Bluetooth device list.
First, check if the red light is on. If not, check if the cigar fuse of your vehicle is in good condition. You can also try with another vehicle to verify.

  6. App not connecting to OBD-I adapter.
Make sure the app is compatible, “OBDIl” is paired with your phone and you have made the required App connection setting.

  7. Cannot connect to vehicle/ECU.
Verify if your vehicle is OBD2 compliant. Make sure the ignition key is ON or start the vehicle to try. Then try it on another vehicle.

  8. Can it reset my ABS, airbag, and other non-Check Engine lights?
Most OBD2 Apps only provide basic check engine light diagnostics. You will need a specific
An app that can do diagnostics on these modules on your specific vehicle. Contact us or the app developer if you are not sure. It cannot reset oil change or maintenance required lights.

  9. Which sensor data can I get?
Readable parameters depend on what’s installed on the OBDIl system by the manufacturer. Generally, newer vehicles will give more readings and faster refresh speed. Some parameters like transmission temp are manufacturer- specific and you will need to add a custom PID.

  10. The adapter does not fit into the recessed area of the OBD port or is hard to plug in and out.
Use our OBD2 extension cable (search for Veepeak OBD2 extension cable on Amazon)
