Safety Instructions

Safety notes

The car sound system was manufactured according to the state of the art and established safety guidelines. Even so, dangers may occur if you do not observe the safety notes in these instructions.

These instructions are intended to familiarize you with the most important functions. Detailed information can be found on the Internet under www.blaupunkt.com.

  • Read these instructions carefully and completely before using the car sound system.
  • Keep the instructions at a location so that they are always accessible to all users.
  • Always pass on the car sound system to third parties together with these instructions.

In addition, observe the instructions of the devices used in conjunction with this car sound system.

Road safety

Observe the following notes about road safety:

  • Use your device in such a way that you can always safely control your vehicle. In case of doubt, stop at a suitable location and operate your device while the vehicle is standing. As the driver, you may not use the applications that will distract you from traffic (depending on the scope of functions of the device, e.g. viewing videos, entering a destination).
  • Follow the driving recommendations during the route guidance only if you are not violating any traffic regulations! Traffic signs and traffic regulations have always priority over driving recommendations.
  • Always listen at a moderate volume to protect your hearing and to be able to hear acoustic warning signals (e.g. police sirens). During mute phases (e.g. when changing the audio source), changing the volume is not audible. Do not increase the volume during this mute phase.

General safety notes

Observe the following note to protect yourself against injuries:

Do not modify or open the device.

Use as directed

This car sound system is intended for installation and operation in a vehicle with 12 V vehicle system voltage. Observe the output limits of the device. Repairs and installation, if necessary, should be performed by a specialist.

The Blaupunkt Technology GmbH declares that the device complies with the basic requirements and the other relevant regulations of the directive 1999/5/EC.

Cleaning notes

Solvents, cleaning and scouring agents as well as dashboard spray and plastics care product may contain ingredients that will damage the surface of the car sound system.

Use only a dry or slightly moistened cloth for cleaning the car sound system.

Disposal notes

Do not dispose of your old unit in the household trash!
Use the return and collection systems available to dispose of the old device, the remote control and exhausted batteries.

Software update

Contact your vendor for software updates.

Placing the device in operation

Switching on/off

Switching on/off with the rotary/push button

Press button to turn on the unit.

Press and hold the ****button for more than 2 seconds to turn off the unit.

Switching on/off via vehicle ignition

If the car sound system is connected with the vehicle ignition and it was switched off with the ****button, it is switched on or off with the ignition.

Volume

Adjusting the volume

You can adjust the volume in steps from 0 (off) to 40 (maximum).

  • Press + / – to change the volume.

Muting the car sound system (Mute)

Briefly press the to mute the device or to reactivate the previous volume.

Operation

Touchscreen

Important note:
Do not use any pointed or hard objects, such as ballpoint pens or fountain pens,to operate the touchscreen.

The device features a capacitive touchscreen that provides a remote control and device buttons (see the section“Controls” at the beginning of these instructions) and allows operating the device.

Tapping

To activate a control, e.g. a button, a slight touching of the display surface is sufficient. You do not have to exert any pressure on the display surface.

  • Short tap:
    A short tap on the display surface is sufficient for activating most of the controls.

  • Long tap:
    Some functions require a long tap. Rest your fingertip on the display surface for approximately 1 second.

Swiping/scrolling

Some functions require swiping across the display surface, e.g.

  • scrolling inlists,
  • adjusting sliders.

Tap on the display surface and rest your finger on the surface. Next, move your finger over the surface.

Zooming

When displaying CarPlay or Android Auto maps (navigation) and images, you can enlarge or reduce the view (zoom):

Tap on the area of the map display with two fingers and rest your fingers on the surface. Move your two fingers closer together (zoom out/reduce) or further apart (zoom in/enlarge).

Touch the [ ****] button to enter main source menu.

In Bottom status bar, you can switch modes by the following shortcuts.

Radio mode

Starting radio playback

In Bottom status bar, press the [ Radio ] button. The radio playback menu is displayed.

The radio display features the following functions and displays:

  1. Current frequency
  2. Radio storage list
  3. Enter frequency directly
  4. Tune backward Auto tune backward. (long press)
  5. Tune forward Auto tune forward. (long press)
  6. RDS Setting
  7. FM/AM switch

Select memory band

Press the or button to select FM or AM band.

Tuning into a station

Tuning into stations manually

During manual tuning, the frequency will be changed in steps.

  • Briefly press the or button on the user interface to tune in a higher / lower station.

Enter broadcast frequency directly

If the frequency of the desired stations is known, it can be entered directly via the touchscreen.

  • Press the button.
  • A numeric keypad is displayed for the frequency input.
  • Enter the frequency of the desired station with the numeric keypad.
  • Press the [ OK ] button.
  • The radio playback menu is displayed, the station of the frequency entered is played back.

Starting station seek tuning

Press the or button for about two seconds to automatically search for a radio station. When an available radio station is encountered, the automatic search will end. If you need to exit the automatic search in advance, you can click the or button again to stop.

RDS setting

  • Press the button to enter the RDS setting
    RDS setting
    Many FM stations broadcast an RDS (Radio Data System) signal in addition to their programme in the reception area Europe that allows additional functions, such as the display of the station name.

  • RDS Alternative Frequency: Switch RDS AF on/off. If RDS AF is activated, the device automatically changes to the strongest frequency of the set station.

  • Switching priority or traffic announcements on/off : In the reception region Europe, an FM station can identify traffic announcements via an RDS signal. If priority for traffic reports is switched on, a traffic report is automatically switched through, even if the car sound system is currently not in radio mode.

  • RT (radio text) : Switches RT mode on. the device will allows a radio station to transmit a 64 (or less commonly 32) character free-form text message that can be either static (such as station slogans) or in sync with the programming (such as the title and artist of the currently playing song).

  • Soft Mute : Switches Soft Mute on/off. When this function is turned on, a noise reduction process will be performed on the radio signal.

USB media playback

Basic information

Playable data carriers and media

  • USB data carriers
  • MP3 or WMA files, movies and images

Notes:

  • The playback of movies and images on the device display is allowed only while the vehicle is standing and the hand brake is applied. The “PARKING” cable must be connected with the hand brake connection of the vehicle. The movie playback on an external monitor (Rear Seat Entertainment) is also possible while driving.

Note the following information when preparing an MP3/WMA data carrier:

  • USB format/file system: FAT/FAT16/FAT32/NTFS
  • File extension of audio files:
    • MP3 for MP3 files
    • WMA for WMA files
  • WMA files only without Digital Rights Management (DRM) and created with Windows Media® Player version 8 or later
  • MP3 ID3 tags: Version 1 and 2
  • Bitrate for creating audio files:
    • MP3: 32 to 320 kbps
    • WMA: 32 to 192 kbps
  • Maximum number of files and directories:
    • Up to 5,000 files (dep. on the file/directory structure)

USB data carrier

This device features one USB ports:

  • USB1 port at the rearofthedevice.

Notes:

  • Use the USB1 ports for USB data carriers with media contents, and mobile phone.

Connecting a USB data carrier

  • Insert the USB data carrier in the USB socket. The device automatically switches to USB mode. The data are read, the playback starts with the first media file recognized by the device.

Removing a USB data carrier

  • Turn off the car sound system.
  • Disconnect the USB data carrier.

Audio playback from USB

The principles of audio playback (MP3/WMA) from data carriers are identical for all sources.

  • In Bottom status bar, press the [ ] button, Next,press the [ ] button.
    If you want to customize the selection of songs to play.

  • Press the [ ] button to change to the folder/file list.

  • Press the [ ] button to display all the folders and files of the data carrier.

  • Press the [ ] button to display all the audio files of the data carrier.

  • In Bottom status bar, press the [ ] button,

  • Next,press the [ ] button.
    If you want to customize the selection of Video to play

  • Press the [ ] button to change to the folder/file list.

  • Press the [ ] button to display all the folders and files of the data carrier.

  • Press the [ ] button to display all the video files of the data carrier.

Note:
Folders and videos are selected and started as described under audio playback.

If you selected a movie, the playback is started. During the movie playback, the playback menu is hidden.

  • Briefly touch the touchscreen once to display the playback menu again. The playback menu is shown.

Image playback from USB

In Bottom status bar, press the [ ] button, Next,press the [ ] button.

Click on the corresponding image to enter browse Mode.

  7. Rotate the image 90 degrees to the left
  8. Rotate the image 90 degrees to the right

Bluetooth mode

The Bluetooth® function allows registering cell phones and media playback devices with the car sound system.

When you register a cell phone with the car sound system, you can make phone calls with the built-in hands-free function. You can access the lists of dialed numbers and the phone book of the registered cell phone.

If the connected Bluetooth® device supports the functions A2DP and AVRCP, you can play the music via the car sound system and control the playback.

Starting Bluetooth mode

In Bottom status bar, press the [ ] button enter Bluetooth Phone mode.

Press the chain button of the Bluetooth® device with which you want to establish a connection.

When the device is in range, the connection is established and the menu for the device is displayed.
Press the Dustbin button if you want to delete the Bluetooth® device from the list.

Registering Bluetooth devices

If you want to register a device with the car sound system for the first time, proceed as follows:

Ensure that Bluetooth® is activated at the car sound system and at your Bluetooth® device.

In the options menu of the Bluetooth® mode, enter a pairing code (see Bluetooth® settings).

Search for new devices/connections on your Bluetooth® device.

The car sound system appears as “San Pedro 950” in the list of Bluetooth® devices.

Establish the connection; you may have to enter the pairing code that was previously entered on the car sound system.

The connection is being established and the menu for the registered device is displayed.

Note

If a telephone is connected with the car sound system, the Bluetooth® icon is displayed at the top right edge of the display in all audio/ video sources.

If you connected a phone with the car sound system via Bluetooth® , the following menu appears.

Making a Call

Dial Number
Input numbers by digit-keys on the screen.

  • Touch [ ] to clear the digits.

  • Touch [ ] button to dial out.

  • [  ] Hangup the call.

  • [ ] Mute the microphone.

  • [ ] Show the key pad.

  • [ ] Transfer the call to your mobile phone.

Answering a call

You can answer an incoming call by pressing the [ ] button.

Touch [ ] button to reject an incoming call.

Access Call History by touching [ ]button.

Then select a number from Dialed/Missed/received calls.

Bluetooth Settings

In the options menu for Bluetooth® , you can make the basic settings for the Bluetooth® mode.

In Bluetooth menu, touch [ ]. The option menu is displayed.

Touch on the selected option to change the setting.

  • Bluetooth porer – Turn on/off the Bluetooth function.
  • Auto connect – If “Auto connect” is activated, the Bluetooth device paired before will be reconnected when it within optional range.
  • Auto answer – If “Auto Answer” is activated, incoming phone calls are automatically answered.
  • Device name – Show the device name.
  • Pairing code – Many Bluetooth® devices request the pairing code before establishing the connection. You can define it here.

Audio playback via Bluetooth streaming

If an audio streaming device is connected with the car sound system via Bluetooth® , you can play back the music via the car sound system and control the playback.

Press the [ ] button on the main menu to change to the audio playback.

  • [ ] Short press: Title selection. Long press: Fast searching.
  • [ ] Interrupt playback and continue playback.
  • [ ] Short press: Title selection. Long press: Fast searching.

Apple CarPlay

Available on select cars, CarPlay is a smarter, safe way to use your iPhone in the car. CarPlay takes the things you want to do with your iPhone while driving and puts them right on your car’s built-in display. You can get directions, make calls, send and receive messages, and listen to audio books and music, all in a way that allows you to stay focused on the road.

How to enter CarPlay mode
CarPlay mode

  1. Connect your iPhone to the CarPlay connector of the unit via the Apple Lightning Cable. The unit will enter CarPlay mode automatically.
  2. To exit CarPlay mode, touch [ ****] button on the front panel.
    If you want to return to CarPlay mode, touch [Apple CarPlay] on the main menu.

How to use CarPlay

CarPlay features and Siri voice control is specially designed for driving scenarios. It also works with your car’s controls. And the apps you want to use in the car have been reimagined, so you can use them while your eyes and hands stay where they belong.

Siri

To activate Siri voice control, just press [ ] button on the front panel.

Touch

you can use the touch screen of the unit to control CarPlay.

Android Auto

Connect Android phone by standard micro USB cable, drivers can enjoy the music from their phone, show the way with Google map or other map App and make or receive a call.

User need to enable Bluetooth on phones and the product at the same time.

Required Android OS: 6.0 and up with a data plan. (Android Auto App must be installed on the phone before connecting).

Play with Android Auto

Select the Android Auto source to play music.

Map

Touch the ( ) icon of Android Auto to let the phone show you the way.

Call Out / Receive Call

Touch the (  ) icon on Android Auto for Calling.

Back to Android Auto

Touch the (  ) icon of Android Auto to back on main menu.

Play Music

Touch the (  ) icon of Android Auto to play music.

Google Assistant

Touch the ( ) on product for using Google Assistant, such as issuing a call, playing music, opening the map and other voice commands.

  1. Touch the ( ) on the top right of LCD .

  2. When Phone is connected, enable Google Assistant by steering wheel control
    This function is only available on cars equipped with the equivalent key

  3. Control with “Ok, Google”.

Back to unit menu

Touch the (Exit) icon of Android Auto to back on unit main menu.

Sound settings

Volume distribution (fader/balance)

You can adjust the volume distribution in the vehicle for all sources.

On the top bar status of the current audio source,press the [ ] button.The equalizer menu is displayed.

You can adjust the equalizer for all media sources.

On the top bar status of the current audio source,press the [ ] button.

The equalizer menu is displayed.

  • Select a preset equalizer via the buttons.

  • Press the [ User ] button to adjust the level of the available frequency bands according to your preferences.
    Note:

  • With the [ Reset ] button, you can reset the customized setting again.

  • Press the [ Flat ] button for a linear sound playback.

  • Press the [ Normal ] button to switch Bass, Mid and Treble adjustment.

  • Exit the current page and the Settings are automatically saved.

External audio/video sources

The device features an external AV/AUX input for audio and video playback:

  • AUX-In is implemented at the very same USB socket.

Danger!

Increased risk of injury from connector. In case of an accident, the protruding connector in the AV-IN/AUX socket may cause injuries. The use of straight plugs or adapters leads to an increased risk of injury.

AVIN: In Bottom status bar, press the [ ] button enter Bluetooth Phone mode.

The display shows the audio or video playback of the auxiliary AV device.
Video sources
AUX: If a auxiliary audio device is connected, the playback starts. And the AUX icon appears on the applications menu.

Basic Settings

In the settings menu, you can adjust the basic settings for the different functions of the device to your requirements.

  • On the top bar status, press the [ ]button. The settings menu is displayed, the General sub-menu is activated.

Note: press the [ ] button to view the description of the corresponding submenu option.

Video

  • Parking – – Enable/disables parking function.

Note:

If “Parking” is activated, video will not be displayed during driving. Please set according to local laws.

Time

Making settings for date and time:

  •  Activating/deactivating automatic time anddate setting via GPS.(if applied)
  • Manual time and date setting as well as time zone selection
  • Selecting time and date format
General

The following setting are possible:

  • Radio Region – – Select region for radio tuning.
  • Display – – Manually adjust the brightness of the touchscreen
  • Key Beep – – Enabling/disables the audible beep when the touchscreen detects a touch.
  • Language – – Select system language.
  • Background – – Select a background.
  • Bluetooth Device – -Display/add/delete Bluetooth devices.
  • Apple CarPlay Device – – Display/add/delete Wireless Apple Carplay devices.
  • Audio EQ Curve – – Select equalization curve so system can adapt and sound better according to your car speakers.
  • Font – – Select system font.
  • Voice recognise switch – – when on,set the Blaupunkt Unit Voice Recognition to be used,When off,set the Bluetooth phone connected Voice Recognition to be Used.Press the Voice key to wake up the Voice Recogniton.When on Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, Respective connected Voice Recognition will be used.
  • User Profile – – Manage user profiles.
  • Anti-theft – – Display your anti-theft code and enables function.
  • Restore all settings – – Resets the system to factory Default settings.All changes made,including paired Bluetooth devices,contact lists,user profiles and radio presets will be lost.
  • Advance Settings- – For technician access.System Password required.
