OPERATION

Charge the Speaker Microphone

The Bluetooth® Revo NC2™ is powered by an integrated rechargeable battery. The battery should be fully charged before first use.

  • Plug the charging cable into the Micro-USB charging port on the back of the unit (Figure 1). Plug the other end of the cable into a USB port in a computer, vehicle, or wall charger.
  • The red indicator light will show solid red Figure 1 while charging and will turn off when the unit is fully charged. Battery charge time is approximately 3 hours.
  • The rechargeable battery will supply approximately 12 hours of service before recharging is needed.
  • Low battery is indicated by a flashing red indicator light.

Power On/Off the Unit

  • Push and hold the multi-function button for 3 seconds or until the red and blue indicator lights flash 3 times and you hear a series of tones. When power is on, the blue light will flash once every 3 seconds until the unit is paired.
  • To turn off, push and hold the multi-function button for 6 seconds until you hear a different series of tones.
  • If the speaker mic is not paired with a device within 5 minutes, the unit will automatically power off to conserve the battery.
  • Wait 5 seconds after the unit powers down before turning it back on to attempt to pair again.

Pairing

The Bluetooth® Revo NC2™ speaker microphone may be paired with a compatible Bluetooth®-enabled two-way radio or mobile device. Once connected, the microphone and speaker of the Bluetooth® Revo NC2™ will be available for use. When successfully paired, the Bluetooth® Revo NC2™ will remain paired with the device, even when both the speaker microphone and the paired device are powered down. There is no need to pair the two again when powered back up. Please note that Kenwood (except Viking VP series) radios have a different pairing mode than other devices and require different pairing methods on the Bluetooth Revo NC2™. The Kenwood-specific steps are shown in italics below. Viking VP series radios are not subject to these steps and must be paired in the same manner as all other devices.

  1. To enable pairing mode, hold down the multi-function button and the PTT button at the same time until you hear “Ready to Pair” and the indicator light flashes red and blue continuously. For Kenwood radios: Hold down the multi-function button and the volume-down button at the same time until the Revo NC2™ enters pairing mode.
  2. Follow the pairing instructions in the user guide for your mobile phone or tablet or your Bluetooth®-enabled two-way radio.
  3. Select “OTTO_PTT_XXXX” in the pairing menu on your device. The Xs represent the serial number of your specific Bluetooth® Revo NC2™ speaker microphone. Some devices, including certain two-way radios do not have a display. Follow the manufacturer’s guide to engage the pairing mode. If the device does not have a display and multiple devices are being paired with multiple speaker mics, only put one device into pairing mode at a time to avoid pairing the Bluetooth Revo NC2™ with the wrong device. The speaker microphone will emit a tone when pairing is successful and the blue light will flash 10 times.
  4. Pairing mode will time out after 150 seconds if the unit is not successfully paired with a device. Repeat steps 1-4 to attempt to pair again. Kenwood radios: After “Connect” is chosen in the radio menu to connect to the Bluetooth Revo NC2™, the radio will “call” the microphone and ring tones will be heard on the speaker mic. “Answer” the call by pressing the multi-function button once and releasing, and the radio will complete the connection to the Bluetooth Revo NC2™.
  5. The Bluetooth® Revo NC2™ speaker mic retains pairing information for as many as six devices. Check the Bluetooth® menu on the device to be sure the speaker microphone is paired with the correct device.
  6. Clearing the pairing memory is not essential, but it can be done as desired. To clear the memory, perform the following operation:
    • Press the multi-function button once and release.
    • As soon as the blue/purple lights on the back of the speaker mic light up (after approximately two seconds), press the PTT button once and release. After a few seconds, a set of tones will be heard. The memory has been cleared.

Volume Controls

  • Raise the volume in steps by briefly pushing the Volume Up button. Hold the button down to instantly reach maximum volume.
  • Lower the volume in steps by briefly pushing the Volume Down button. Hold the button down to instantly reach minimum volume.
