When you fully lower the shield/visor, its tab will engage with the hook. It is recommended that the shield/visor remains in this position during touring (Drawing A).

Opening the shield/visor

To open the shield/visor, push its tab in the direction of the arrow engraved on the tab (Drawing B) and then raise the shield/visor (Drawing C).

WARNING

The shield/visor lock is designed so that the shield/visor tab cannot be pushed directly upward from below. As a result, if the tab is forced upward, the window beading, shield/visor, and PINLOCK® EVO lens will be scraped strongly and may be scratched.

Removing the CPB-1/CPB-1V shield/visorSHOEI CPB-1 Smoke Visor-
FIG2

  1. Fully close the shield/visor.
  2. Remove the upper screw from the shield/visor base using a No. 2 Phillips head screwdriver. Then remove the washer and shield/visor from the shield/visor base (Drawing 1 and 2). (In addition to a No. 2 Phillips head screwdriver, the following coins can be used. Japan: 1,5,10, 50, and 100 yen; Europe: 1,2, and 5 cent; America: 1,10, and 25 cent.)
  3. Also, remove the opposite side in the same manner.

Installing the CPB-1/CPB-1V shield/visor

  1. 1. With the shield/visor fully closed, attach it to the shield/visor base and position the washer in place. Be sure to align the projection on the back of the washer with the groove of the shield/visor base when positioning the washer. Next, align the upper hole in the shield/visor base with the center of the screw hole in the left/right direction as shown in Drawing 3. Finally, tighten the screw.
  2. Also attach the opposite side in the same manner.
  3. Move the shield/visor up and down several times to confirm it is firmly attached.
  4. If there is any gap between the window beading and the shield/visor or the shield / visor cannot be closed, refer to “Adjustment of the CPB-1/CPB-1V Shield/Visor”.

WARNING

  1. The Glaister is compatible with the CPB-1V and CPB-1 shields/visors. To identify the model number of your shield/visor, check the engraved mark on its right side. For the washers, the CPB-1V aluminum washers with grooving on the surface and the CPB-1 aluminum washers without grooving are compatible (see the right drawing).
  2. When fitting the CPB-1V shield/visor, be sure to use the CPB-1V aluminum washers that are supplied with the CPB-1V shield/visor. If the CPB-1 aluminum washers are used, the screws may be loosened.
  3. Be sure to hold a No. 2 Phillips screwdriver or the specified coin perpendicular to each screw and turn it with care. (For specified coins, refer to “Removing the CPB-1/CPB-1V shield/visor”.)
  4. If the screws are turned with a coin, depending on its size, it may hit and scratch the washers.
  5. If the screws are turned with the specified coin, depending on its size, it may leave a scratch or a damage on the surface treatment of the screws. In addition, when the screws are turned with a Phillips screwdriver, depending on the circumstances, it may also result in damage to the screws.
  6. If the screws are turned with a coin, dirt on the coin may adhere to the screws. If dirt has adhered to the screws, wipe it off with a cloth.

If the shield/visor does not securely contact the window beading or the shield/visor cannot be closed after you replace it or its base, adjust the shield/visor base by following the procedure below. The Glaister allows you to adjust the shield/visor base position with the shield/visor still attached. Adjust the shield/visor so it contacts the window beading indicated by the dotted line.

Checkpoint: The upper and lower areas of the inside of the shield/visor should touch the window beading.

If there is a gap between the window beading and the shield/visor:

  1. Sufficiently loosen the two screws on the right and left sides (total of four places) so that the shield/visor base can move.
  2. Align the lower hole in the shield/visor base with the center of the lower screw hole in the up/down and left/right directions and then tighten the screw.
  3. Next, align the upper hole in the shield/visor base with the center of the upper screw hole in the left/right direction. After this, tighten the screw while checking the shield/visor is firmly in contact with the window beading. Tighten both the right and left sides in the same way.
  4. Finally, confirm the shield/visor and washers are held securely in place by the screws.
  5. If there is a gap after attaching the Right shield/visor:
  6. Loosen the upper screw while keeping the lower screw of the right shield/visor base tightened. Next, rotate the shield/visor base very slightly toward the rear using the lower screw as an axis and then tighten the upper screw.
  7. If a gap remains after adjustment up to step ❺:
  8. This time, loosen the upper screw of the left shield/visor base while keeping the lower screw tightened. Next, rotate the shield/visor base very slightly toward the rear using the lower screw as an axis and then tighten the upper screw.
  9. If the shield/visor is too close to the window beading:
  10. Loosen the upper screw of the right shield/visor base (with the lower screw still secured at the center of the hole in the shield/visor base) and rotate Right the shield/visor base slightly clockwise, and then tighten the upper screw. Confirm the shield/visor opens and closes smoothly and there is no gap between the shield/visor and window beading. If the shield/visor is still too close, use the same procedure to adjust the shield/visor base on the left side.

Cautions related to use of the CPB-1/CPB-1V shield/visor

  1. Before you use the helmet, check that the shield/visor screws are securely tightened. The shield/visor screws should be checked periodically. Re-tighten any loose screws.
  2. Dirt and scratches on the shield/visor may obstruct your view while riding and can be very dangerous! If the CPB-1/CPB-1V shield/visor gets dirty or scratched, stop using it immediately. Remove the shield/visor and clean or replace it.
  3. The CPB-1/CPB-1V shield/visor should be cleaned with a solution of mild, neutral soap and water. Rinse well with pure water then wipe dry with a soft cloth. Do not use any of the following cleaning materials: hot water over 40℃; saltwater; any acidic or alkali detergent; benzine, thinner, gasoline, or other organic solvents; glass cleaner; or any cleaner containing organic solvents. If any of these cleaners are used, the shield’s/visor’s chemical nature may be altered and safety may be hindered.
  4. Do not ride with a shield/visor that is fogged. This may obstruct your view and can be very dangerous. If the CPB-1/CPB-1V shield/visor is fogged, open the shield/visor to circulate air within the helmet and remove the fog from the shield/visor. Use of the PINLOCKⓇ EVO lens is also effective in stopping fog.
  5. Always use SHOEI’s genuine PINLOCKⓇ EVO lens for CPB-1/CPB-1V. For fitting the PINLOCKⓇ EVO lens, please read the instructions enclosed in it.
  6. Remove the protective film before using the shield/visor for the first time.
  7. After cleaning or replacing the base plates, close the shield/visor and make sure that it touches the window beading in all around. If there is a gap between the shield/visor and the window beading, adjust the position of the base plate and eliminate the gap, because it may cause a roll-in of wind or noise.
  8. While a No. 2 Phillips head screwdriver is recommended when tightening screws, etc., the specified coins can also be used (refer to “CPB-1/CPB-1V shield/visor”). Be sure to hold the screwdriver or coin of unsuitable size or an electric screwdriver, or tighten a screw perpendicular to each screw and turn it with care. If you use a screwdriver of an unsuitable size or an electric screwdriver or tighten a screw on an angle, the head of the screw may be damaged. Always take care when turning the screws. Make sure to use genuine parts (aluminum) when replacing screws. Forcibly overtightening the screws may result in damage. Always use sufficient care. (Recommended tightening torque: 80 cN•m/Approx. 8 kgf•cm)
  9. Do not place stickers or adhesive tape on the shield/visor.
  10. When it seems difficult to move the shield/visor, apply the supplied silicon oil inside the hole of the shield/visor.

WARNING

  1. CPB-1/CPB-1V shield/visor equipped with PINLOCK® EVO lens does not meet ECE R22 optical property requirements.
  2. Light transmittance ratio of Spectra, Dark Smoke, Light Smoke, Hi-Definition or Half Tinted shield/visor is less than the requirement of ECE R22 / 05. Therefore, they are not homologated. However, when they are used in riding in the circuit for a long time under strong sunlight, they may ease the fatigue of your eyes better compared with homologated shield/visor. Don’t use these tinted shields/visors under dark circumstances such as in the night, in tunnels, under rain, or fog. When PINLOCK® EVO lens is attached to these shields/visors, the transmittance ratio is maximum by 10%.
  3. CPB-1/CPB-1V shield/visor is manufactured on basis of VESC-8.(VESC-8: Vehicle Equipment Safety Commission regulation NO.8 for motorcyclist eye protection) This standard is widely referenced and applied by the 36 states in the USA with motorcyclist eye protection use laws.
