IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Please read these instructions thoroughly before use. Failure to follow instructions may result in equipment damage or failure, losses, injury, or death.

DANGER:
To avoid possible electric shock:

  • If the power cord has been damaged, DO NOT operate, the AllClear G2 Filter unit should be replaced.
  • Prior to installation, inspect the quartz sleeve and UVC bulb to ensure there was no damage during transportation.
  • After installation, the AllClear G2 Filter should be examined to ensure there is no water on parts not intended to be wet.
  • If the AllClear G2 Filter shows signs of any water leakage, immediately unplug it from the power source.
  • If the AllClear G2 Filter falls into the water, DO NOT reach for it. First, unplug and then retrieve it.
  • Close supervision is necessary when the unit is used by or near children.

WARNING:
To reduce the risk of electric shock:

  • Connect only to a properly grounded receptacle, which is serviced by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter, and never remove the ground pin from the plug.
  • Provide a “drip loop” for the power cord. This is a loop in the cord below the level of the receptacle or plug that prevents water from traveling along the cord in the direction of the receptacle.
  • ALWAYS unplug the AllClear G2 Filter from the power source when it is not in use, and before installing, removing, or servicing the AllClear G2 Filter components.
  • If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with a proper rating should be used. A cord may overheat if the cord is rated for fewer amperes or watts than the unit rating.
  • DO NOT immerse the AllClear G2 Filter or plug in water or attempt to use a wet plug. The minimum safety distance between unit and water is 6.5ft.
  • The AllClear G2 Filter is NOT suitable for use in swimming pools, swimming ponds, or other situations where bodily contact is made with the water.  Although the AllClear G2 Filter is designed for outdoor use, it should never be submerged in water.
Avoid contact with the UVC light. Light omitted can be harmful to the eyes and skin.

CAUTION:
To reduce the risk of equipment damage or failure:

  • DO NOT place the AllClear G2 Filter in direct sunshine.
  • DO NOT place the AllClear G2 Filter near flammable or other dangerous materials or objects.
  • DO NOT use the AllClear G2 Filter for fluids other than water.
  • ALWAYS unplug the unit if there is no water running through it to prevent overheating.
  • The AllClear G2 Filter is NOT submersible; do not place the AllClear G2 Filter where it might contact or fall into the water. Partial burial of the unit is  recommended
  • DO NOT operate during freezing conditions. Disconnect, drain and store the AllClear G2 Filter in a protected location.
  • DO NOT operate the AllClear G2 Filter with a pump larger than the maximum flow rate indicated by the filter specifications. Operating with a pump larger than recommended can reduce the effectiveness of the filter and cause damage to the filter or UVC and will NOT be covered under warranty.
  • ALWAYS cap the backflush outlet when not in use to avoid unintended draining.

IMPORTANT:
The Pond Guy® is not responsible for equipment damage or failure, losses, injury or death resulting from failure to follow safety precautions, misuse, or abuse of equipment.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:

  1. Water flows through the filter inlet and into the UV chamber.
  2. Within the chamber, larger particles are clumped together so they can be removed from the water. Larger AllClear G2 filters also include a UVC- Reflector. This intensifies the power of the UV so a smaller more energy-efficient UV can be used on larger filters while providing the same great benefits.
  3. Next, water travels through layers of filter media arranged in alternating low and high density to provide mechanical and biological filtration. The beneficial bacteria that grow in the media pads break down ammonia and nitrites that can diminish water quality and be harmful to aquatic life.
  4. Finally, the water exits the filter and proceeds back into your pond or waterfall.

INSTALLING YOUR ALL-CLEAR G2 FILTER:

For Best Results

  • Run the A clear G2 Filter 24 hours a day.

  • DO NOT operate during freezing conditions. Disconnect, drain and store the AllClear G2 Filter in a protected area.

Watch a video of the AllClear™ G2 Filter installation online @ www.thepondguy.com/allclearg2
Tools Required:

  • Shovel
  • Hacksaw
  • Flathead Screwdriver or Nut Driver

Step 1
Determine Filter Location
The AllClear G2 Filter is pressurized and may be installed in any location outside of the pond on a solid surface. Avoid locations that are prone to water puddles or areas where the filter could fall into the pond. It is recommended to partially bury the filter in the ground leaving only the filter top and clamps exposed.

Step 2
Mark Filter Location
Set the filter in the selected location and use a shovel to mark an area slightly wider than the filter.

Step 3
Excavate Hole and Insert Filter
Excavate the hole deep enough for the clamp on the filter top to remain a few inches above the ground’s surface, and then insert the filter. Be sure to position the filter so the inlet and outlet are set up for easy connection to your plumbing. Finish by backfilling dirt around the filter to keep it in place.

Step 4
Attach the Fittings
Attach the fittings to the inlet and outlet of the AllClear G2 Filter with the compression ring. The o-rings should be between the filter housing and the step-down fitting to create a watertight seal when secure.
Note: The outlet on the opposite side of the filter is reserved for the backflush option. This outlet should remain capped unless the backflush is in use.

Step 5
Cut Fittings to Size
Temporarily slide your tubing onto the fitting to determine the size connection you will use. Then, cut the fittings to the largest connection that will work with your plumbing to ensure maximum water flow.

Step 6
Connect the Plumbing
Connect the plumbing coming from your pump into the inlet indicated on the filter and secure with a hose clamp. Then, connect plumbing that will return the water to your pond or waterfall into the outlet indicated on the filter and secure it with a hose clamp.
Step 7
Plug-in Pump and Filter
Plug your pump into a GFCI protected outlet. Once water is flowing through the filter plug the AllClear G2 UV Filter into a GFCI protected outlet.

CLEANING THE FILTER MEDIA

Step 1
Unplug
Unplug your pump and filter.

Step 2
Connect a Discharge Hose
Connect a discharge hose to the backflush outlet and turn the dial from filter to clean.

Step 3
Plug the Pump In
Plug the pump in and pull the handle on the top of the filter slowly. This compresses the filter media, aiding in the discharge of debris. Do this for 60 seconds, or until the water exiting the backflush is clear.

Step 4
Once Water is Clear, Unplug Pump
Once the water is clear, unplug the pump, remove the discharge hose and cap the backflush outlet.

Step 5
Plug Pump In
Restore power to both your pump and filter.

WARNING:
Before performing any maintenance, always unplug the AllClear G2 Filter from the power source.

Tools Required:

  • 2 Phillips Screwdriver

  • Replacement UV Bulb
  • A soft, damp cloth
  • Descaler such as Pond Equipment Cleaner
  • Replacement quartz sleeve if yours is damaged or cracked
  • Replacement filter media pads

REPLACING THE FILTER MEDIA:

We recommend that filter pads be replaced yearly or when pads show signs of wear and tear.
Step 1
Remove Filter Top
Slide the clamp on the filter to the open position and remove the filter top.

Step 2
Remove Screws
Remove the 2 screws holding the rods onto the filter media base.

Step 3
Replace Media Pads
Replace the media, keeping the pads in the same order as the ones you removed.

Step 4
Place the Base Back
Place the base back onto the filter media and secure to the rods with the 2 screws.

Step 5
Replace Filter Top
Replace the filter top, be sure the filter o-ring is properly seated, and secure with the filter clamp.

REPLACING UV BULB AND CLEANING/REPLACING THE QUARTZ SLEEVE

Over time the effectiveness of the UV bulb will degrade. We recommend replacing the UV bulb once a year, even if the bulb operates, to maintain maximum results. The quartz sleeve should be cleaned yearly or when water clarity is reduced.
Note: Condensation may form on the quartz sleeve. This cannot be avoided and does not impair the function or safety of the unit.

Step 1
Remove Filter Top Screws
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the 4 screws securing the UV to the filter top.

Step 2
Unscrew Compression Nut
Unscrew the compression nut and gently pull out the quartz sleeve.

Step 3
Remove UV Bulb
Pull gently on the base of the UV bulb to remove it.

Step 4
Insert New Bulb
Insert the new bulb taking care not to touch the bulb as the oils from your hands can cause damage.

Step 5
Transfer Protective Cap
Transfer the rubber protective cap from your old bulb onto the new one.

Step 6
Clean Quartz Sleeve
Clean the quartz sleeve with a soft cloth or sponge.
The quartz sleeve should be cleaned yearly or when water clarity is reduced. You may find the use of Pond Equipment Cleaner helpful for removing debris. If the quartz sleeve is scratched, damaged, or cracked, it must be replaced.

Step 7
Reinstall Quartz Sleeve
Reinstall the o-ring, quartz sleeve, compression nut, and screw to lock into place.

Step 8
Insert UV into Filter
Insert the UV back into the filter top and secure it with the 4 screws. Note: Screws must be tightened enough to engage the UV trigger, you will hear a “click” when the UV is secure.
Step 9
Test UV
Plugin the UV briefly to test it. You will see a glow on the back of the UV indicating that it is operating.
