APR CI100036 B9 2.0T Carbon Fiber Intake
Notes:
These instructions were written for a North American specification B9 A4, but
other models, like the A5 are similar.
When disassembling the car, be sure to keep all fasteners so they can be
reused. It is recommend that you get some kind of compartmented tray to
organize the fasteners, such as a fishing tackle box or several large ice cube
trays. Fasteners that are not reused for reinstallation are noted in the
instructions. All directions used in this manual (right, left, front, etc.)
are based on if you were sitting in the drivers seat of the car.
These instructions assume that you have basic mechanical skills and several
varieties of basic hand tools in order to install the kit. If you have any
questions about the install, feel free to contact your APR representative.
Instructions
Raise the hood and remove the hood latch by pressing in on the small button on
the back of the latch, and then lifting the latch up and away from the car. Be
sure to not close the hood with the latch removed!
Carefully lift up on the front corners of the hood latch cover where it
attaches to the top of the front bumper/grill. Lift to separate the clips of
the cover all the way across its front side. Once unclipped, the cover can
slid forward and be removed from the car.
Remove the two T25 screws holding the front of the air guide to the radiator
support.
Slide the front of the air guide back slightly, while pulling the air guide
out and away from the factory airbox.
Pull off the rubber vacuum line from the plastic 90° fitting on the front of
the turbo inlet hose. Loosen the 7mm hose clamp connecting the turbo inlet
hose to the turbocharger.
Lift up on the entire airbox assem-bly to remove it from the car. The turbo
inlet hose will slide off the tur-bocharger.
Pull off the factory rubber grom-mets from the bottom of the stock airbox. All
three grommets should be on the bottom of the airbox, but may be stuck in the
mounting points in the car.
Push the three factory rubber grommets onto the machined posts on the bottom
of the APR airbox.
Install the APR coupler onto the turbo inlet pipe.
Place the APR airbox into the car. Guide the airbox outlet into the coupler
previously placed on the turbo inlet. Gently push down on the sides of the APR
airbox to ensure the rubber grommets fully push into the mounting points in
the car.
Ensure the coupler is correctly over the outlet of the airbox and the inlet of
the turbocharger. Position the clamps as show, between the turbo inlet and the
side of the engine, and tighten the both clamps to 5.5Nm (48in-lbs).
Swivel the 90° fitting in the APR airbox outlet pipe, and then connect the
factory vacuum line to the fitting.
Install the rubber seal onto the end of the APR inlet scoop that goes into the
APR airbox. The seal wraps around both the inside and outside of the inlet
scoop.
Identify which APR inlet scoop you have. If your scoop has black threaded
mounting holes, skip to the next step. If your scoop has silver mounting
holes, install the supplied spacer into the back of the core sup-port, in the
right mounting hole to the core support.
Install the APR inlet scoop to the opening on the APR airbox. Push the inlet
scoop up against the back of the radiator core support, aligning the threaded
mounting holes with the holes on the back of the core support.
Install the two supplied 5mm allen screws from the front side of the core
support and into the threaded mounting holes of the APR inlet scoop. Tighten
the screws to 2.5Nm (22in-lbs).
Place the back of the hood latch cover into the slot of the radiator sup-port.
Then, carefully align the tabs along the front of the hood latch cover and
snap them back into their correct positions along the top of the bumper and
grill.
Reinstall the hood latch. The latch is keyed so that it can be only installed
in one direction. Push the latch down until it clips fully onto the hood latch
post.
