Product Usage Instructions
Preparation:
- Securely support the vehicle on a lift or jack stands.
Disassembly:
- From the back of the main underbody panels, remove the four 10mm plastic nuts.
- From the underbody panel just in front of the left rear wheel,remove the four T25 screws and one 10mm nut holding the panel inplace. Remove the panel from the car.
- Remove the four 13mm nuts from the factory cross brace at the back of the center tunnel of the car. Remove the brace from the car.
- At the back of the center tunnel of the car, separate the exhaust from the rubber exhaust hanger, leaving the rubber hanger attached to the car.
- Loosen the two 13mm nuts on the factory exhaust sleeve clamp towards the front of the center tunnel. Leave the clamp in place to support the factory exhaust.
- With an assistant holding the factory muffler up, remove the two 13mm bolts on both sides of the rear muffler. Lower the entire factory exhaust down from the car once it is slid out of the previously loosened sleeve clamp.
- Remove the left exhaust hanger assembly from the factory rear muffler section, noting the orientation of the hanger.
Installation:
- Install the factory exhaust hanger assembly onto the APR rear muffler in the same orientation.
- Assemble the supplied reducer, sleeve clamp, and straight section of tubing. Leave a 10mm (3/8 inch) gap between the reducer and the straight tubing. Loosely tighten the 15mm nuts on the sleeve clamp to hold the assembly together.
- Flip the factory sleeve clamp around and install the assembled section of pipe onto the back of the factory exhaust. Leave approximately a 10mm gap between the sections. Loosely tighten the 13mm nuts on the factory sleeve clamp to hold the straight assembly on the car.
- Install the rear muffler on the car, using an exhaust hanger to support the muffler. Loosely install the 13mm screw on the factory exhaust hanger bracket to hold the muffler to the car.
- With an assistant, install the center section of the APR exhaust to the factory rubber hanger at the back of the centertunnel. Loosely install one of the APR sleeve clamps to hold the center section of the exhaust in place.

Notes:
- These instructions were written for a North American specification Tiguan FWD, but other models, are similar.
- When disassembling the car, be sure to keep all fasteners so they can be reused. It is recommend that you get some kind of compartmented tray to organize the fasteners, such as a fishing tackle box or several large ice cube trays. Fasteners that are not reused for reinstallation are noted in the instructions. All directions used in this manual (right, left, front, etc.) are based on if you were sitting in the drivers seat of the car.
- These instructions assume that you have basic mechanical skills and several varieties of basic hand tools in order to install the kit. If you have any questions about the install, feel free to contact your APR representative.
INSTALLATION
- Securely support the vehicle on a lift or jack stands.
- From the back of the main under-body panels, remove the four 10mm plastic nuts.
- From the underbody panel just in front of the left rear wheel, remove the four T25 screws and one 10mm nut holding the panel in place. After noting how the tabs on the panel is attached, remove it from the car.
- Remove the four 13mm nuts from the factory cross brace, at the back of the center tunnel of the car. Remove the brace from the car.
- At the back of the center tunnel of the car, separate the exhaust from the rubber exhaust hanger, leaving the rubber hanger attached to the car.
- Loosen the two 13mm nuts on the factory exhaust sleeve clamp, towards the front of the center tunnel. Leave the clamp in place to support the factory exhaust.
- With an assistant holding the factory muffler up, remove the two 13mm bolts on both sides of the rear muffler. The entire factory exhaust can then be lowered down from the car once it is slid out of the previously loosened sleeve clamp.
- Remove the left exhaust hanger assembly from the factory rear muf-fler section, noting the orientation of the hanger.
- Install the factory exhaust hanger assembly onto the APR rear muffler in the same orientation.
- Make the following assembly with the supplied reducer, sleeve clamp, and straight section of tubing. Allow about a 10mm (3/8”) gap between the reducer and the straight tubing. Loosely tighten the 15mm nuts on the sleeve clamp to hold the assembly together.
- After flipping the factory sleeve clamp around, install the assembled section of pipe onto the back of the factory exhaust. After leaving approximately a 10mm gap between the sections, loosely tighten the 13mm nuts on the factory sleeve clamp to hold the straight assembly on the car.
- Install the rear muffler on the car, using an exhaust hanger to sup-port the muffler. Loosely install the 13mm screw on the factory exhaust hanger bracket to hold the muffler to the car.
- With an assistant, install the center section of the APR exhaust to the car to the factory rubber hanger at the back of the center tunnel. Loosely install one of the APR sleeve clamps to hold the center section of the exhaust to the previously installed straight section of the exhaust.
- Connect the center section of the exhaust to the rear muffler assembly with the last sleeve clamp.
- Working from the front of the exhaust to the back, adjust the position of the exhaust and tighten the sleeve clamps. The exhaust (cold) should hang slightly forward (towards the front of the car) on the rubber hanger. There should be approximately 10mm between each section of pipe inside the sleeve clamps. Tighten the two 13mm nuts on the factory sleeve clamp to 30Nm (22ft-lbs). Tighten the four 15mm nuts on both sleeve clamps on the straight section of exhaust to 61Nm (45ft-lbs).
- Adjust the center section of the exhaust so that it sits correctly in the center of the rear subframe, and attaches to the rear muffler. With about 10mm of gap between the center section of the exhaust and the rear muffler inside the rear sleeve clamp, tighten the two 15mm nuts on the rear sleeve clamp to 61Nm (45ft-lbs).
- Tighten the 13mm screw on the rear muffler hanger to 20Nm (15ft-lbs).
- Reinstall the factory cross brace at the back of the center tunnel. Tighten the four 13mm nuts to 20Nm (15ft-lbs).
- Reinstall the underbody panel just in front of the left rear wheel, making sure the tabs on the panel go back in the same way it was removed. Install the four T25 screws and one 10mm nut holding the panel in place, tightening all fasteners to 2Nm (18in-lbs)
- Reinstall the four 10mm plastic nuts holding the back of the under-body panels in place. Tighten the fasteners to 2Nm (18in-lbs).
