MATERIAL PREPARATION

  • IMPORTANT Before spraying, the material being used may need to be thinned with solvent; as specified by the material manufacturer.

  • WARNING Do not use materials with a flashpoint below 39°C.

  • NOTE Follow the instructions below.
Stir the spraying material thoroughly before measuring viscosity.

  • Dip the VISCOSITY CUP (14) completely into the spraying material.

  • Hold the VISCOSITY CUP (14) and measure the time in seconds until the spray material empties out.

  • This time duration is referred to below as *Runout Time.

THINNING CHART

IMPORTANT Material to be sprayed should always be strained to remove any impurities in the paint which may enter and clog the system.
Impurities in the paint may give poor performance and a poor finish.

OPERATION

  • Attach the tilted end of AIR HOSE (4) into the back of the SPRAY GUN (5).
  • Attach the opposite end of the AIR HOSE (4) into the slot at the base of the MOTOR UNIT (9).
  • NOTE This has two lugs to align and twist clockwise to secure into position.
  • Plug the Paint Station in at a suitable mains socket.VonHaus 3515387 800W Paint Station-fig 5
  • Press the ON/OFF SWITCH (10) to the I position to switch on.
  • Press the ON/OFF SWITCH (10) to the 0 position to switch off.

ALIGNING THE SUCTION TUBE

  • Unscrew the CONTAINER (8) from the SPRAY GUN (5) and rotate the SUCTION TUBE (15) to the correct position.
  • If you are going to be spraying in a downward direction, the angled end of the SUCTION TUBE (15) should be pointing towards the front of the Spray Gun.VonHaus 3515387 800W Paint Station-fig 8
  • If you are going to be spraying in an upward direction, the angled end of the SUCTION TUBE (15) should be pointing towards the rear of the Spray Gun.
  • NOTE By following the practices above, this should prevent you from having to refill the container as often, and reduce paint splatter.

SURFACE PREPARATION

  • All objects to be sprayed should be thoroughly cleaned before spraying.
  • Areas excluded from spraying should be masked off appropriately.
  • NOTE When spraying outdoors, the spraying area must be free of dust in order to avoid blowing dust onto the freshly sprayed surface.VonHaus 3515387 800W Paint Station-fig 9

SPRAY TECHNIQUE

  • ADVISORY If spraying with an HVLP spray system is new or unfamiliar to you, it is strongly advisable to practice on a piece of cardboard or wood offcuts before proceeding on your intended workpiece
  • Spray parallel to the surface with smooth passes at a consistent speed as illustrated below. Adhering to this will avoid irregularities in the final finish.
  • Always apply a thin coat of material on the first pass and allow to dry before applying a second, slightly heavier coat.
  • Position the Spray Gun perpendicular to one or more inches from the spray surface.
  • NOTE The closer the sprayer is to the object being sprayed the lower the overspray.
  • ADVISORY When spraying, always trigger the spray gun after spray pass has begun and release the trigger before stopping the pass.
  • NOTE Always keep the spray gun pointed squarely at the spray surface and overlap passes slightly to obtain the most consistent finish.

SPRAY PATTERN ADJUSTMENTVonHaus 3515387 800W Paint Station-fig
10

  • The spray pattern shape is adjusted by rotating the SPRAY PATTERN ADJUSTER (1) to either the vertical, horizontal or diagonal positions.
  • Loosen the LOCKING NUT (3) sufficiently to enable you to rotate the SPRAY PATTERN ADJUSTER (1).
  • The positions of the SPRAY PATTERN ADJUSTER (1) and corresponding spray pattern shapes are illustrated below.
  • Test each pattern and use whichever pattern is suitable for your application.

FLOW ADJUSTMENTVonHaus 3515387 800W Paint Station-fig

  • Set the material flow volume by rotating the MAX. PAINT VOLUME CONTROL (6) behind the TRIGGER (7) of the spray gun.
  • Rotate the MAX. PAINT VOLUME CONTROL (6) clockwise for greater volume and anti-clockwise for  decreased volume.\

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

NOTE Always flush the spray outdoors. Area must be free of flammable vapours. Cleaning area must be well ventilated.

  1. Unplug the paint station and trigger the spray gun so that the material inside the spray gun flows back into the container.

  2. Unscrew the container. Empty any remaining material back into the material container.

  3. Pour a small amount of appropriate cleaning solution into the container.
Warm, soapy water for latex materials.
Mineral spirits for oil based materials.

  5. Attach the container to the gun and plug in the spray gun at the mains.

  6. Spray solution through the gun for 2 seconds in a safe area.
NOTE The same substance that is used to thin the paint is also used for cleaning.
NOTE Improper cleaning of the spray gun and all of its components may significantly reduce the life of the product.
Spray again for 2 seconds. Unplug the paint station from the mains and trigger the gun so that the material inside the spray gun flows back into the container.

  7. Wipe the exterior of the container and spray gun.

  8. Uncsrew the nut and remove the air cap and nozzle.

  9. Clean the container, suction tube, air cap and nozzle with a cleaning brush and the appropriate cleaning solution.

  10. Clean the rear of the spray gun with appropriate cleaning solution.
Turn the suction tube anticlockwise and pull the suction tube downward to disassemble it from the spray gun.
Clean the suction tube with appropriate cleaning solution.

IMPORTANT Ensure the SPRAY PATTERN ADJUSTER (1), NOZZLE (2) and LOCKING NUT (3) are reassembled correctly after cleaning.
Failure to adhere to this may result in some paint in the container being sucked into the air duct and adversely affecting the operational function of the unit.

REMOVING THE AIR FILTERVonHaus 3515387 800W Paint Station-fig
12

  • The AIR FILTER (16) should be cleaned on a regular basis to ensure the optimal performance of the paint station is maintained.
