WARNING:  Risk of injury. Defective and disabled safety and protective devices can result in serious injury.

  • Have any defective safety and protective devices been repaired?
  • Never disable safety and protective devices.

Thermal protection
The pump is equipped with a thermal protection switch that switches off the motor in the event of overheating. After a cooling down period of ap-prox. 15 – 20 minutes, the pump switches on again automatically. Operate the pump only when it is fully immersed.

Drip program (DIVE 5600/44)
When conveying very small water volumes (e.g. dripping of the line), a drip program is activated in order to prevent the pump from switching off prematurely. 7 starting attempts are then carried out within 150 seconds. The pump then switches off. The process is repeated after a short time. If further starting attempts (after one hour in each case) are unsuccessful, the pump is switched off. The mains plug then has to be unplugged and plugged in again before the pump can be restarted.

Dry running protection (DIVE 5600/44)
The pump is equipped with dry running protection. The dry-running protection system switches off the pump if water is not drawn in. The pump then tries to switch itself on again automatically several times.

Pressure sensor (DIVE 5600/44)
The pump is equipped with a pressure sensor. This sensor automatically switches the pump off and on when the set pressure is reached.

  • Pressure values: see technical data.

Float switch (02) (DIVE 6500/34)
The pump is switched on automatically by the float switch at a specific water level (ON height)(02/a) and switches off again when the water level falls to the OFF height (02/b). The float switch must be able to move freely on the surface of the water.

  • Disconnect the pump from the main supply and allow the pump and water to cool down.
  • Check the water level on the suction side.
  • Check the leak-tightness of the lines.
  • Check the installation of the suction and pressure lines.
  • Put the pump into operation again only after all the faults have been remedied
  • Never lift, transport, or affix the pump by the mains cable. Do not pull the main cable in order to pull the main plug out of the socket.
  • Unauthorized modifications or conversions to the pump are prohibited. Repairs may only be carried out by our customer service.
  • Disconnect the mains plug before working on the device. Protect the mains plug against moisture.
  • Only use the pump and extension cable if they are in flawless technical condition. Dam-aged appliances must not be operated.
  • Maintain a safe distance from persons or animals or switch off the pump if animals approach.

Electrical safety

  • The pump may not be operated while people are in the pool or pond.
  • The main voltage at your location must correspond to the information on the main voltage in the Technical Data. Do not use any other supply voltage.
  • The appliance must only be operated on electrical equipment in accordance with DIN/VDE 0100, parts 737, 738, and 702. A circuit breaker of 10 A must be installed for fuse protection.
  • Only use an extension cord that is designed for outdoor use – minimum cross-section 3 x 1.5 mm2, quality of H07RN-F as per DIN 57282/57245 with a splash-proof plug socket. Always fully unwind cable drums.
  • Check the condition of your extension cable prior to every use.

  1. Screw combination nipple (01/7) with seal ring into pump outlet port (01/1).
  2. Connect the hose to the combination nipple.
  3. Fasten mains cable (01/ 6) to the pressure line using cable ties.
  4. Unwind the mains cable completely.
  5. Insert the mains plug into the power socket.
Connecting a separate suction hose

AL-KO-DIVE-6500-Automatic-
submersible-pump-fig-2

IMPORTANT:  Danger of damage to the pump! The pump will not function correctly if the tapping point is 18 m higher than the pump.

  • Ensure that the tipping point is not more than 18 m above the water level.

IMPORTANT: The danger of damage to the pump! The pump cannot be vented if the separate suction hose is not filled with water.

  • Fill the separate suction hose with water to ensure the proper function.

The port (03/1) for a separate suction hose, e.g. for “floating tapping” of water from the upper half of a cistern (04/1) is on the underside of the pump. Pumping via the separate suction hose prevents water from being drawn in via the inlet screen. Water is pumped off only via the additionally installed suction hose (04/3). A float switch (04/2) can also be attached to the suction hose. This allows the water on the surface of the cistern to be pumped off.

  • DIVE 6500/34: The pump is switched on and off by the float switch, depending on the water level.
  • DIVE 5600/44: The pump is switched on and off automatically by the integrated pressure switch.
  1. Open cover on the underside of the pump (03/a). Use tools, if necessary.
  2. Fill the pump with water until it overflows.
  3. Install gasket and cover with thread (03/b).
  4. Connect the suction hose (03/c).
  5. Fill the suction hose with water on the suction side.
  6. Place the pump (04/4) into the cistern.

START-UP

IMPORTANT: Risk of flooding! In the event of faults in the pump, water can escape and cause consequential damage due to flooding.

  • Take appropriate measures to avoid consequential damage caused by flooding in the event of faults in the pump.

IMPORTANT: Danger of damage to the pump  If pressure lines are not completely drained, the pump cannot vent itself automatically and the pump may be damaged.

  • Before switching on again after removing from the shaft, ensure that the pressure line is completely drained.
  • Operate the pump suspended from a cable (01/8) or pay attention to a stable position of the pump (upright or horizontal).
  • Operate the pump only when it is fully immersed.
  • Make sure there is adequate clearance under the pump.
  • Never allow the pump to run against a closed pressure line.
  • When using in shafts, make sure the size is adequate.
  • Always cover the shaft with a secure foot-plate.

NOTE The pump (DIVE 5600-44) has a check valve on the pump outlet. This prevents the pressure line from being drained each time the pump stops.

OPERATION

Switching the pump on

IMPORTANT Danger of damage to the pump! The pump must not draw in any solid material. Sand and other abrasive materials in the pumped medium will destroy the pump.

  • Ensure that no solids can enter the pumped medium.

NOTE On the muddy, sandy, or stony ground, use a suitable plate to ensure the stability of the pump or connect a separate suction hose.

  1. DIVE 5600/44 only: Open all shut-off devices (valve, spray nozzle, water cock) in the pressure line.
  2. Unwind the mains cable (01/ 6) completely.
  3. Ensure that electrical plug connections are located in the area safe from flooding.
  4. DIVE 6500/34 only: Set the ON and OFF height (see chapter 7.2 “Setting the ON and OFF height (DIVE 6500/34)”, page 16).
  5. Slowly immerse the pump in the pumped medium, holding the pump at a slight angle so that any trapped air can escape
  6. .Insert the mains plug into the power socket

Setting the ON and OFF height (DIVE 6500/34)

The cable of the float switch (01/9) is clamped to the pump housing (01/5). The switching points of the float switch can be set individually by changing the clamping position. Recommended cable length on the float switch approx. 100 mm.

IMPORTANT:  Danger of damage to the pump! There is a danger during pumping out that the pump could run dry and cause equipment damage.

  • Monitor the pump continuously when pumping out to the residual water level and avoid the pump running dry.
  • Take the pump out of service when the residual water level is reached by pulling out the main plug.

NOTE If the water drops below the residual water level, the pump will draw air in. In this case, the pump must be vented when the water level rises and before using it again.

Switching the pump off

  1. Remove the mains plug from the plug socket.
