wearing your device
- Put the dome (instructions on next page). Choose the dome that fits you best. Refer to the section “Checking the dome size”
- Place the dome on the tip of the hearing aid. Gently place the tip in the ear canal.
- Make sure you insert the device as quickly as possible to avoid feedback.
Before start using your new device, we recommend you to remove any excess wax that may have accumulated in the ear canal. A professional ear cleaning may be necessary.
Installing the domes:
push the ear tip over the ridges on the hearing aid. Make sure that the new
ear tip is properly and securely mounted before inserting into the ear canal.
Tip:
If you find your hearing device is not comfortable, try shuffling and
adjusting it until it fits nicely. Your ears are not yet adjusted to feeling
the hearing aids inside of them, but they will quickly get used to the
sensation until its no longer uncomfortable.
changing the waxguards
How to remove old waxguard
Plug thin end of stick to wax guard port and gently take out old wax guard. If
any wax or dirt stayed inside, use the brush to remove it.
How to install new wax-guard
Plug in the thick end of the stick onto a new wax guard, then push it into the
wax guard port.
how to clean your device
- After removing your Nano CIC from your ear, take the ear dome out of the device.
- Gently use brush or an alcohol wipe to remove the ear wax on your device, especially on the area covered by the dome.
- If necessary, change the waxguard(s). (Check page 22)
- Clean the ear dome verifying there is no wax buildup or debris covering its hole, you can clean it with warm water and soft soap and gently massage the dome until it’s free of wax – always remove the domes from the device.
- Clean with a dry wipe and let the device dry. Install the eardome.
TURNING ON/OFF
Turn / rotate the volume control trimmer clockwise for max sound amplification. To turn ON or OFF the device, simply slide the power switch to ON / OFF.
checking the dome size
Check to see if you’re wearing the correct dome size by gently shaking your head up and down and then side to side while chewing. If the domes slide out, it’s too small. A bigger than needed one will feel uncomfortable inside the ear canal. If a dome is not securely fastened on your hearing aid before inserting into your ear, this could possibly get lodged in your ear canal when you pull it out. In the event that this happens, DO NOT attempt to remove the stuck dome with your fingers, use tweezers, cotton buds, or any other tool. Visit your doctor/audi-ologist as soon as possible.
troubleshooting
- Feedback / Chirping: If you hear a high-pitched sound when you put the device in the ear canal, you’re having feedback. Change between differnt dome sizes to one that fits better, and insert the device as swiftly as possible to avoid feedback.
- Batteries don’t last: Make sure youre turning off your device when you’re not using it, and remember to peel off your batterie’s sticker. Your batteries should last 3-7 days.
- Volume / Amplification is not enough: Our devices have a great amplification level. If your ears are clogged with wax the sound is reduced – try a professional ear cleaning.
- I can’t change the volume!: Sometimes, AirTap doesn’t respond as expected. Make sure your device is not being obstructed by an object, such as hair or clothing.
Hearing Journey
Week 1
Some sounds may seem too loud, and sometimes you’ll feel like the sounds
you’re hearing are “on the inside of a cave or a tunnel” – maybe you hear them
far away. This is completely normal and a sign that the aids are working. The
more you wear your new hearing aids, the better your brain will adjust itself
to them.
Week 2
Hearing new sounds you haven’t heard in a long time can be exciting but a bit
overwhelming! As you wear them more and more, conversations will become
easier, and you may even need to lower the volume on the TV or ask people to
lower their voice.
Week 3
Experiment with the different volumes and dome sizes. Keep wearing them for as
long as you can, everyday, and also make sure you’re cleaning them properly.
The “tun-nel” effect should subside slowly. Some people may stop experiencing
the effect by now.
Week 4
After 4 weeks, hearing will be much easier and you’ll feel more present in
conversations. You’ll be able to enjoy life to the fullest as your brain will
have adapted to the sounds you’re hearing again. Some people take up to 5 or 6
weeks to reach this stage. Keep being patient!
