  • Please do not put this trigger in an environment where flammable liquid is likely to come into contact with this product.
  • Please do not put this trigger in an environment where strong electro-magnetic field or dust is likely to come into contact with this product.
  • Please do not put this trigger in moisture places where temperatures will change rapidly to avoid formation of condensate water.
  • Please do not insert metal parts into any lighting equipment.
  • Please dry your hands before handling the equipment as touching it with wet hands is dangerous to both, to the equipment and to you.
  • Please do not attempt repairs to your lighting equipment personally. If a problem arises, contact the store from which you have purchased the product or the Rollei Service Center.
  • Please do not fire the flash at very close distances to items or people / ani-mals as the strobe releases intense heat and can cause damage and serious injury.

Note

  1. Press function keys 1 and 2 for approx. two seconds to activate the key lock.
  2. Press function keys 2 and 3 for approx. two seconds to enter the options menu.

Installation

  1. Charge the battery: To charge the radio trigger, connect a USB adapter (not included) to the charging connector. Use the supplied USB cable. Warning: Do not leave the device unattended while charging!
  2. Updating the firmware: Before you put the device into operation, please first make a firmware update with the latest firmware, which we provide in our download center at https://downloads.rollei.com/en/startseite-english/. Instructions can be found here on page 46.
  3. Attaching to the camera: Before connecting the trigger to your camera make sure that both devices are turned off. Then slide the trigger into the hot shoe of your camera.
  4. Power ON / OFF: To turn the trigger on please press Power button for about 2 seconds. To turn the device off press the Power button again for about 2 seconds.

Functions

  2. M: In the manual mode the power can be set from 1.0 ~ 9.0. The minimum power output is 1.0 and the maximum one is 9.0. Briefly press the control dial until the flash output is highlighted. To change 0.1 f each, turn the control dial. For large adjustments, press and hold the control dial for about 2 seconds. Turn the control dial to adjust the flash output in 1 f increments.

  3. TTL: In the TTL automatic mode the power can be adjusted from -3.0 ~ + 3.0. The minium exposure compensation value is -3.0 while the maximum value is +3.0. The values can be changed in increments of 0.3.  Power setting for all groups in manual mode
    Press function key 2 for 3 seconds and all groups will be highlighted. To adjust the power of all groups at once, briefly press the control wheel and then turn it in the desired direction.
    Note: Adjusting the power for all groups only works in Manual mode.

  4. Group A–F : In the same channel up to 6 groups (A/B/C/D/E/F) can be controlled independently. Within each group the number of flashes is not limeted. By pressing the group button repeatedly you can select the group of which you would like to change the mode or power value.

  5. Shooting modes: There are two modes that can be used, M = manual mode and TTL = automatic exposure mode. Changing shooting modes is done by pressing the respective group selection button.

  6. Flash modes: By pressing the sync button repeatedly you can switch between the different sync modes:

  7. Front curtain sync = The sync icon of the first shutter curtain is displayed.

  8. Rear curtain sync = The icon for rear curtain sync is shown on the display.

  9. High speed sync = The icon for high speed sync is shown on the display.  Here you can set the shutter speed up to 1/8000s, to synchronize the speed with the flash. Note: Due to internal camera settings it might be that not all function will be shown on the display of the transmitter for every camera. Please go into your camera settings to select the function then.

  10. Channel: The transmitter can be set for up to 32 radio channels from the number 00 ~ 31. Briefly press the channel key ”CH” until the channel number is highlighted. Then you can set the channel number by turning the control dial . Option menu: You can access the options menu by pressing function keys 2 and 3 simultaneously for approx. 2 seconds. There you can make further settings. Press the control dial to select functions and settings, and turn the control dial to scroll through the menu. Press function key 3 under “OK” to exit the options menu.

  11. How to set the Canon ID under the Canon RT mode (ZGB)? Select the menu item ”ID number“ to set the ID between 00 and 99.

  12. Sleep mode
    Here you can set the time at which the station goes into sleep mode. You can choose between 5, 15, 30 minutes or “OFF”.

  13. Bluetooth®1) Activate the Bluetooth®1) function here. When Bluetooth®1) is activated, the Bluetooth®1) icon appears on the display. If Bluetooth®1) is activated, you can connect the transmitter to your smartphone via the Rollei ”Rollei Studio“ app. This app is available for iOS and Android and can be downloaded from the App Store or Play Store.

  14. SYNC-X
    Set this function to “ON” (On) to maximize the speed of the flash for taking continuous pictures with the camera.

  15. Background lighting
    With the ”Back light“ setting, you can set the background exposure to dark (MIN), medium (MID) or light (MAX).

  16. Speed ”Nor“/“Boost” The newer firmwares of the Pro Transmitter Mark II can set “Wireless Speed” between “NOR” and “BOOST”. Briefly press the control wheel to select the setting and choose between “NOR” and “BOOST” by scrolling the control wheel. Confirm the setting by briefly pressing the operating wheel or function key 3.
    Note: Our Rollei flashes can be operated via the “NOR” setting as well as the “BOOST” setting. The setting depends on the firmware used or must be adjusted on the flash.

  17. Power Here you set the power output of the radio signal. You can select the power level between MIN (minimum: 18 dBm), NOR (medium: 20 dBm) and MAX (maximum: 22 dBm). Use a higher power level the further away the radio transmitter and the flash are from each other.

  18. Flash (w)
    Here you can set the power according to the flash you are using (200 W / 400 W / 600 W / 800 W / 1200 W / 1600 W). This supports the accuracy of the exposure when using the TTL mode.

  19. CH recommend
    As the wireless frequency of this radio trigger is 2.4 GHz, it will automati- cally search and recommend a suitable channel to avoid frequency overlap with other electronic devices in the work environment that use the same frequency.

  20. Control of Soluna LED permanent lights
    To use the Pro Transmitter Mark II to also control Soluna LED permanent lights, press function key 2 under ”Flash“ so that the display changes to ”EF“. Now you can set the power, channels and groups analogous to the flash menu. With function key 1 ”EF set“ you can select the LED continuous light category between Soluna (continuous lights with Bowens S- type connector) and EF-P (LED panels). Via function key 3 ”ALL“ you can control all groups together.

  21. Reset
    You can reset the settings in the options menu with function key 1.

Rollei Pro Radio Transmitter interface Flashgun

  1. Press the power button for about 2 seconds to start the trigger.

  2. Set the radio mode on your transmitter according to the camera you are using: Canon / Nikon / Sony / Fuji / Olympus / Lumix . This is done by pressing the function key 1.

  3. Set the wireless control of your Rollei flash to TTL-ALL.

  4. Set the same channel and group to your flash and to your transmitter (part 2 and 5 in the function description).
    Note: The flash lights that are using the same channel can be adjusted separately in different groups regarding their mode and power output.

  5. Press the test button to make sure that the flash lights will sync with the transmitter.

  6. Press the group button to set the different modes (M/TTL).

  7. Press the sync button to switch between the different sync modes: front curtain sync, rear curtain sync and high speed sync. To change the menu of function keys, briefly press the on/off key.

  8. Press the modeling lamp button to activate or deactivate the modeling lamp of the flash.

  9. Press function key 2 to switch the flash signal tone on or off.

  10. Press function key 3 to display the output power of the flash in TTL mode in Manual mode. However, this function only works when group A is used.

Wireless zoom control for clip-on flashes
Press function button 1 for 3 seconds and the transmitter will change to the zoom setting. To zoom, briefly press the control wheel to select the desired group and then turn it in the desired direction.
Note: The function is only available with clip-on flashes that support this function.
Note: Please note that some settings can only be changed directly in the menu of the camera and not via the trigger. This goes especially for Canon/Nikon cameras. Therefore please check the camera‘s manual. It might happen, that the flash settings of the trigger will be overwritten by the settings in the camera‘s menu.

Firmware Update

In our download center at https://downloads.rollei.com/en/startseite- english/, we provide you with regular firmware updates. To install a new firmware on the transmitter, proceed as follows:
The USB-C port is located on the side of the transmitter.

  1. Press and hold the right function key 3 of the transmitter continuously.
  2. Connect the switched off radio transmitter to the PC via USB. The transmitter now appears as a removable disk.
  3. Copy the firmware file to the removable data medium.
  4. When the copying process is finished, you can release the function key.
  5. The firmware of the radio transmitter is now up to date.

To view the current firmware version on the transmitter, turn it on, the version number is displayed in the lower right corner of the start screen.

Please download the Rollei App ”Rollei Studio“ to your smartphone.

Connecting

  1. Press the power button for about 2 seconds to start the trigger.
  2. Press the function keys 2 and 3 for approx. 2 seconds to enter the options menu. Activate the Bluetooth®1) function here. If Bluetooth®1) is activated, the Bluetooth®1) symbol appears on the display.
  3. Activate Bluetooth®1) on your smartphone.
  4. Start ”Rollei Studio“ and use the Bluetooth®1) function in the app to find the transmitter. Select the Rollei transmitter and the two devices will be connected.

Note: When pairing an Android smartphone, a code is requested for pairing. This code is 000000.
