Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Keep all safety instructions and information for future reference! The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

Work area safety
  • Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
  • Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
  • Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
Electrical safety
  • Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
  • Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
  • Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
  • Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
  • When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use.
  • Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
Personal safety
  • Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.

  • Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
  • Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
  • Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
  • If devices are provided for the connection
  • of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
  • Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless
action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.
Power tool use and care
  • Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

  • Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack, if detachable, from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

  • Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

  • Maintain power tools and accessories. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.

  • Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

  • Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

  • Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.

Installation instruction
The machine is equipped with power voltage compensation equipment. When power volt-age fluctuates between±10% of rated voltage, it still can work normally.
When use long cable, in order to prevent volt-age form going down, bigger section cable is suggested. If cable is too long, it may affect the performance of the power system. So we suggest you to use configured length.

  • Make sure intake of the machine not blocked or covered, lest cooling system could not work.
  • Ground the cables with section area no less than 6mm2 to the housing, the way is connecting screw in the back of the power source to ground device, or make sure ground terminal of power socket is firmly connected. Both ways can be used for ab-solute safety.
  • Correctly connect the arc torch or holder according to the sketch. Make sure the cable, holder and fastening plug have been connected with the ground. Put the fastening plug into the fastening socket at the “-”polarity and fasten it clockwise.
  • Put the fastening plug of the cable to fastening socket of “+” polarity at the front panel, fasten it clockwise, and the earth clamp at the other terminal clamps the work piece.
  • Please pay attention to the connecting polarity, DC welding machine has two connecting ways: positive connection and negative connection. Positive connection: holder connects with “-”terminal, while work piece with the “+” terminal. Negative connection: work piece with the“-” terminal, holder with the “+” terminal. Choose suit-able way according to working demands. If unsuitable choice, it will cause unstable arc, more spatters and conglutination. If such problems occur, please change the polarity of the fastening plug.
  • According to input voltage grade, connect power cable with power supply box of relevant voltage grade. Make sure there is no mistake and the voltage of power supply does not exceed permission range. After the above job, installation is finished and welding is available.
If distance of work piece and ma-chine is too far (500-100m), and the cables(torch cable and earth cable) are too long, please choose cable of bigger section to minimize the re-duction of the voltage.
Operation instruction
  • Open the power switch, screen will show set current value and ventilator is beginning to run.
  • Adjust knobs of welding current and arc-striking push, make welding function complies with demands.
  • Generally, welding current is adequate to welding electrode according with as following:
Specification Current
φ2.5 70-100 A
φ3.2 110-160 A
φ4.0 170-220 A
φ5.0 230-280 A

Attention! Remember that the nature of the weld depends not only on the amperage, but also on other parameters such as the diameter and quality of the electrodes, arc length, welding speed and position of the welder, as well as the condition of the electrodes, which must be stored in the packaging and protected from dampness.

  • To start welding, you need to touch the welding point with the end of the electrode, while the movement of your hand should be similar to how you light a match. This is the correct arc ignition method.
Attention! Do not knock the electrode on the working surface when trying to ignite the arc, as this can damage it and further complicate the ignition of the arc.

  • As soon as the arc strikes, the electrode must be held on such distance from the processed material, which corresponds to the diameter of the electrode. To obtain a uniform seam, it is further necessary to maintain this distance as constant as possible. It should also be remembered that the tilt of the electrode axis should be approximately 20-30 degrees.

  • When finishing the weld, pull the electrode back a little to fi ll the weld crater and then lift it sharply until the arc disappears.

  • If the thermal protection is triggered during operation (indicator 4 turns on), the device automatically turns off. It is necessary to turn off the device for 20 minutes in order for it to cool down, and after that you can continue to work.

Safety norms
The welding machine is installed with protection circuit of over voltage, over current and over heat. When voltage, output current and temperature of machine exceed the required standard, welding machine will stop working automatically. However, overuse (such as over voltage) will still result in damage to the welding machine. To avoid this, the user must pay attention to the following.

  • The working area is adequately ventilated
The welding machine is powerful machine, when it is being operated, it generated by high currents, and natural wind will not satisfy machine cool demands. So there is a fan in inner-machine to cool down ma-chine. Make sure the intake is not in block or covered, it is 0.3 meter from welding machine to objects of environment. User should make sure the working area is adequately ventilated. It is important for the performance and the longevity of the ma- chine.

  • Do not over load
The operator should remember to watch the max duty current (Response to the selected duty cycle). Keep welding current is not exceed max duty cycle current. Over-load current will damage and burn up ma-chine.

  • No over voltage

  • Power voltage can be found in diagram of main technical data. Automatic compensation circuit of voltage will assure that welding current keeps in allowable range. If power voltage is exceeding allowable range limited, it will damage to components of machine. The operator should understand this situation and take preventive measures.

  • There is a grounding screw behind welding machine, with a grounding marker on it. Before operation, welding crust must be grounded reliable with cable which section is over 6 square millimeter, in order to pre-vent from static electricity, and accidents because of electricity leaking.

  • If welding time is exceeded duty cycle limited, welding machine will stop working for protection. Because machine is over-heated, temperature control switch is on “ON’’ position and the indicator light is red. In this situation, you don’t have to pull the plug, in order to let the fan cool the ma-chine. When the indicator light is off , and the temperature goes down to the standard range, it can weld again.

Questions to be run into during welding

  • Fittings, welding materials, environment factors, power supply can affect welding performance.
  • Make sure quality of tungsten electrode is high .
  • If the electrode contains moisture, it will cause unstable arc, welding defect in-crease and poor quality.
  • If the extra-long cable is used, the output voltage will be affected, so please shorten the cable.
  • When power voltage deviates from the rated value, it will affect output current accordingly; When input voltage is lower than rated value, the max output may be lower than rated value.

Maintenance and Service

Maintenance and Cleaning
  • Pull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any work on the power tool.
  • Remove dust by dry and clean com-pressed air regularly. If welding machine is operated in environment where strong smoke and polluted air is present, the ma-chine needs to be cleaned at least once a month.
  • Pressure of compressed air must be within reasonable range in order to prevent damage to small and sensitive components in the machine.
  • Check internal circuit of welding ma-chine regularly and make sure the circuit connections are connected correctly and tightly (especially plug-in connector and components). If scale and rust are found, please clean it, and connect again tightly.
  • Prevent water and steam from entering into the machine. If that happens, please blow it dry and check insulation of machine.
  • If welding machine will not be used for long time, it must be put into the packing box and stored in dry and clean environment.

In order to avoid safety hazards, if the power supply cord needs to be replaced, this must be done by P.I.T. or by an after-sales service centre that is authorized to repair P.I.T. power tools.
