USE AND CARE
Read these instructions carefully and keep them for future reference.
Before use
Cast iron pots and pans are already pre-greased and no further greasing is necessary. Clean your cast iron thoroughly with hot water before first use, following the care instructions. Do not prepare acidic foods when using your cast iron for the first time, as acid can damage the patina.
To care for your cast iron
Wait for the cookware to cool and then clean it with warm water. Do not clean
hot pots and pans with cold water, the material could be damaged. Also, do not
use soap or other cleaning agents, as this will damage the patina. Dry the
cookware thoroughly. Never store cast iron pots and pans without drying them
thoroughly first.
Storage
Cookware must be completely cooled and cleaned before storage. Add a thin layer of oil after cleaning. You can use normal vegetable oil (cooking oil) or a special care product for cast iron for this purpose. Then store the cookware in a dry place. If the pot or pan has a lid, leave it slightly open (not tightly on).
Regrease
If your cookware starts to rust or look dull and dry in places, you will need to re-grease it. Remove the rust with a wire brush and then clean the cookware thoroughly with warm water. In this one case, soap can be used. Then dry it well and grease all cast iron parts thoroughly with vegetable oil (cooking oil) or a special care product for cast iron. Then place the cookware in an oven set to at least 200 °C (400 °F / gas level 6) and allow the grease to burn in for 1 to 2 hours. Add another thin layer of oil after it has cooled. You can then reuse the cookware immediately or store it in a dry place. Note that when you re-grease the cast iron, there may be a lot of smoke. If this is a problem, you can re-grease the cookware outdoors in a kettle grill
