DEVICE OVERVIEW
COMMISSIONING AND OPERATION
Before first use
- Take the coffee grinder out of the packaging and remove all packaging material.
- Remove any dust that has settled on the device during the packaging process.
- Remove the bean funnel. To do this, first press the unlocking button on the bean funnel while turning the funnel counter-clockwise so that you can remove it from the bean funnel holder for cleaning.
- Clean the bean funnel, bean funnel cover, coffee powder container, and coffee container cover with water, and then dry them carefully.
Caution: Never fill the bean container with water when it is connected to the device base and never clean the device base under running water.
Commissioning
-
Place the coffee grinder on a flat surface.
-
Place the bean funnel in the bean funnel holder. Make sure that the closure of the bean funnel is at the same height as the notch on the bean funnel holder. Now turn the bean funnel clockwise until it is firmly connected to the holder (see Fig. 1). To disassemble, press the release button on the bean funnel while turning the funnel counter-clockwise to remove it from the bean funnel holder.
The bean funnel is equipped with a microswitch which ensures that the device only works when the bean funnel has been correctly inserted into the bean funnel holder. -
Make sure that you put a maximum of 360g of coffee beans in the bean funnel.
Note: If the device is switched on without coffee beans, it will switch off automatically after an operating time of 5 minutes. The device must cool down for at least 30 minutes if it was previously in continuous operation for 5 minutes. -
Close the bean funnel cover.
-
Place the coffee powder container (with lid) on the holder of the coffee powder container. Make sure that the opening of the coffee powder container is level with the coffee powder outlet.
-
Set the desired grinding degree on the grinder regulator. Turn the control to the right to increase the grinding degree. If you turn the control to the left, the grind will be reduced.
-
The amount of coffee depends on the grinding time. You can use the click wheel to set the desired grinding time (see table). After the selection, the corresponding indicator light will light up with 100% brightness. If you do not want to set a grinding time, the device will automatically grind for the preset grinding time.
Indicator lights (from left to right)| Grinding time in seconds
---|---
The first LED lights up (S) with 100% brightness (factory setting)| 5
The second LED lights up (S) with 100% brightness (factory setting)| 10
The third LED lights up (S) with 100% brightness (factory setting)| 20
The fourth LED lights up (S) with 100% brightness (factory setting)| 30
The fifth LED lights up (S) with 100% brightness (factory setting)| 40
The sixth LED lights up (S) with 100% brightness (factory setting)| 50 -
Plug the power plug of the device into the main socket. The first indicator light (factory setting) will light up with 100% brightness, while the other light indicators and the start/stop indicator will light up with 50% brightness. Select the desired grinding degree according to ‘Step 6’. Then press the start/stop button and the machine will grind the coffee beans for the preset time. After a while, the coffee powder will come out of the coffee powder outlet. The start/stop indicator will flash continuously during the grinding process.
Notes:
• If no action is performed 90 seconds after switching on the device, the device will automatically go into standby mode.
• If the device has been used continuously for 5 minutes, it must be allowed to cool for at least 30 minutes. It is recommended that the device be used continuously for less than 90 seconds per grind. A rest period of 90 minutes should be observed after each grinding cycle.
• You can interrupt the grinding process at any time by pressing the start/stop button. -
When the set grinding time is reached, the coffee grinder automatically stops the grinding process and switches to standby mode. Now the first LED will light up again with 100% while all other lights, including the start/stop display, will light up with 50% brightness.
Note: The maximum filling quantity of the coffee powder container is 155g Make sure that the coffee powder container does not overflow. -
Unplug the machine, remove the ground coffee container and take out the ground coffee.
CORRECT GRINDING OF COFFEE BEANS
- The coarse-grained coffee powder is generally used for percolators and coffee machines. Medium grind coffee is used for filter coffee machines and for steam espresso machines. Fine coffee powder is used for espresso machines with an electric pump.
- For the freshest, tastiest coffee, just grind enough coffee for the cup you’re making. Coffee beans can stay in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 months and can be ground while frozen. Coffee powder residues left in the coffee grinder can become stale and can negatively affect the taste of freshly ground coffee. Therefore, always make sure that you clean the grinding chamber, the cutting blades, and the grinder after each use.
- This coffee grinder is only suitable for grinding dry, brittle foodstuffs. It cannot be used to grind moist, extremely hard, or gummy foods such as ginger, sesame seeds, chocolate, or oil-containing spices such as cinnamon, cloves, or nutmegs. Don’t grind peanuts or grains like wheat, rice, barley, or dried wheat. Attempting to grind this type of food can damage the device. Never attempt to grind ice cubes with the coffee grinder.
- Freshly ground peppercorns have a strong aroma and can then affect the taste of the coffee beans. You may want to purchase an additional grinder for grinding peppercorns.
CLEANING AND CARE
Unplug the device from the socket and let it cool down completely before cleaning it. To avoid electric shock, do not hold the cord, plug, or body of the machine underwater or fill the bean container with water while it is connected to the machine body.
-
Remove the bean funnel from the bean funnel holder. Clean the bean funnel, bean funnel cover, coffee powder container, and coffee container cover with water, and then dry them carefully.
-
Hold the grinder by the handle and turn it counter-clockwise to remove it. After you have taken the grinder out of the device, remove the coffee powder from the grinder and from the cutting blades. Pour out the rest of the coffee powder (see Figure 2). To put the grinder back into position, put it back into the machine. Make sure that the notch on the lower side of the grinder is level with the lock. Turn the grinder clockwise until it is fixed in the correct position again (see ‘Device overview’).
Note: Please handle the grinder carefully as the grinder and cutting blade is very sharp. -
Wipe the body of the device with a wet cloth and then dry it completely.
-
Store the device in a dry and cool environment when you are not using the device.
