Warning: When using electric products, basic precautions should always be
followed, including the following:
Power Sources
Your unit should be connected to a power source only of the voltage
specified in the owner’s manual or as marked on the unit. This unit has a
polarized plug. Do not use with an extension cord or receptacle unless the
plug can be fully inserted. Precautions should be taken so that the grounding
scheme on the unit is not defeated. An apparatus with CLASS I construction
shall be connected to a Mains socket outlet with a protective earthing
connection. Where the MAINS plug or an appliance coupler is used as the
disconnect device, the disconnect device shall remain readily operable.
Hazards
Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket or
table. The product may fall, causing serious personal injury and serious
damage to the product. Use only with cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table
recommended by the manufacturer or sold with the product. Follow the
manufacturer’s instructions when installing the product and use mounting
accessories recommended by the manufacturer. Only use attachments/accessories
specified by the manufacturer.
Equipment that is suspended overhead must use a secondary safeguard to prevent
personal injury in the event the primary mounting mechanism fails. Safety
eyebolts attached to the equipment and galvanized steel wire can be used
together to implement a failsafe mounting thus ensuring the safety of the
equipment and anyone positioned below the equipment.
Improper installation can result in bodily injury or death. If you are not
qualified to attempt the installation get help from a professional structural
rigger.
Note: Prolonged use of headphones at a high volume may cause health
damage to your ears.
The apparatus should not be exposed to dripping or splashing water; no objects
filled with liquids should be placed on the apparatus. The terminals marked
with the “lightning bolt” are hazardous live; the external wiring connected to
these terminals requires installation by an instructed person or the use of
ready-made leads or cords.
Ensure that proper ventilation is provided around the appliance. Do not
install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or
other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat. No naked flame
sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus.
Power Cord
Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A
polarized plug has two blades one wider than the other. A grounding-type plug
has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong
is provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your
outlet, consult an electrician for the replacement of the obsolete outlet. The
AC supply cord should be routed so that it is unlikely that it will be
damaged. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly
at plugs. If the AC supply cord is damaged DO NOT OPERATE THE UNIT. To
completely disconnect this apparatus from the AC Mains, disconnect the power
supply cord plug from the AC receptacle. The main plug of the power supply
cord shall remain readily operable.
Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods
of time.
Service
The unit should be serviced only by qualified service personnel. Servicing is
required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply
cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into
the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not
operate normally, requires battery pack replacement or has been dropped.
Disconnect power before servicing!

LP-C4
The Yorkville Sound LP-C4 is a highly flexible stage lighting controller that
delivers a streamlined experience in an easy-to-use foot-controlled package.
With four channels of
lighting control and a custom-tailored list of effects, the LP-C4 has what it
takes to get you through any small to mid-sized gig with ease.
Quick Start Guide
- Connect a standard XLR cable from the LP-C4 to any compatible Yorkville LP-Series lighting product.
- Plug the light bar into a standard 3-pronged grounded AC receptacle. Both the light bar and the controller (which is powered by the light bar) will turn on.
- Push the Scene 1 button on the controller and set up your lights for your first scene (the color controls are active only for the LP-LED systems).
- Changes to a scene are stored in memory as they happen, so you don’t need to do anything to store the scene you’ve created. The next time you load Scene 1, it will come back just as you’ve set it up.
BASIC OPERATION
The LP-C4 was designed specifically to work with the Yorkville LP-LED lighting sys-tems, but it retains backward compatibility with our legacy LP-302 and LP-304 light bars. All of the functions described here are the same for all Yorkville lighting products except where specifically noted.
CHANNEL CONTROLS
Each channel has two controls
- Color — This rotary encoder is used to select the color of the corresponding light (not active with LP-302 or LP-304)
- Intensity — This control is used to set the brightness of the corresponding light head.
EFFECTS CONTROLS
There are two effects controls:
- Fade Rate — This control sets how quickly lights cross-fade from one color to the next. This applies to effects and to scene changes. Try starting out at 12 o’clock and adjust to taste from there.
- Effect Rate — This knob is used for fine-tuning the speed of the effects (it does nothing for the Audio Flash effect). The range of this knob has been optimized for each of the effects, so you should be able to set it for one effect and be happy with the result for all of the effects. Try starting out at 12 o’clock and adjust to taste from there.
FUNCTION SWITCH
This switch is used to select either Scene mode or Effects mode. In Scene mode, the green Scene LED will be lit, and the LED of the current Scene will be lit green. In Effects mode, the red Effects LED will be lit, and the LED of the current effect will be lit red. You can easily determine whether you are in Scene mode or Effects mode by quickly looking at the color of the LED for the currently selected program.
BLACKOUT SWITCH
Step on this switch to immediately shut off all lights connected to the LP-C4.
The Blackout LED will light when the controller is in blackout mode. Step on
the switch again to revert to the previously selected scene or effect.
Alternatively, you can step on a Scene/Effect switch to exit blackout into the
scene or effect of your choice.
Note: The Function Switch stays active in Blackout mode so you can change
modes before you exit Blackout.
SCENES
The LP-C4 can store six custom scenes. To create a scene, press the switch of
the scene in which you would like to store your changes. Select the colors and
intensities that you would like for each of your four channels of lighting.
Changes to a scene are stored in memory as they happen, so you don’t need to
do anything to store the scene you’ve created. The next time you load this
scene, it will come back just as you’ve set it up.
EFFECTS
Color fade — All channels are the same color and fade between colors. These
fades are fairly slow.
Mixed Color Fade — Similar to above but heads are different colors.
Auto-Sequence — This effect fades the lights through a factory pre-programmed
sequence of ‘scenes.’ These are NOT user-programmable and are unrelated to the
six Scenes that you can program and store. It was designed to be a very simple
‘set and forget it’ mode.
Note: The three above effects will appear to do nothing when using the
LP-302 and LP-304 lighting systems.
Color Chase — Lights come on sequentially, one at a time. Each time the light
advances a different color is randomly selected.
Audio Flash all — All 4 channels are the same color and pulse with the bass
beat. Each time the lights go out the color changes so that the next pulse is
a different color.
Strobe — just like the name says, this is a strobe-inspired effect.
OUTPUT JACKS
There are two XLR output jacks on the back of the LP-C4. Both of these jacks
carry identical data for all four channels of the LP-C4 (i.e. they are in
parallel).
