FANTASEA FRX100 III Compact Housing

Important Notice

The full product instruction manual can be downloaded through the housing’s product page on our website — www.fantasea.com

Please carefully follow the guidelines provided in the instruction manual in order  to properly operate the housing.

General Guidelines

  • Fantasea Housings are designed to accommodate specific camera models. Please make sure your camera  and housing models are fully compatible.

  • Prior to the dive, make sure the housing is properly closed and completely watertight sealed. This includes  locking the housing using the Latch Dial and verifying the M16 port and/or Vacuum Valve are properly  tightened.

  • Prior to diving with the housing, submerge it in a shallow tub of water or rinse tank to ensure it’s completely watertight sealed.

  • It is important that a first dive is always carried out with the housing empty (with no camera installed  inside) in order to verify that the housing watertight seal has not been affected during transport and after  long periods of storage.

  • When using the housing for the first time-
o Peel the transparent plastic screen protector off the back door exterior of the housing.
o Install the hand lanyard on the bottom right loop of the housing.
o Remove the anti-glare hood out of the housing, secure it to the bottom left loop of the housing and install it over the anti-glare hood rails at the back of the housing.

  • Familiarize yourself with all camera and housing controls topside before using these controls underwater.

  • Once the camera has been installed inside the housing and prior to diving with it, test housing control  buttons to make sure that the camera was properly installed and that nothing interferes with normal operation of the camera.

  • If making use of a Vacuum Safety System-
The housing should be completely set up for the dive prior to performing the vacuum check.
Prior to opening the housing, make sure to completely release the vacuum using the Vacuum Release Tip.
In between the dives, use the wrench included to make sure the Vacuum Valve is tightly screwed into its port.
Visually inspect the O-ring featured at the base of the Vacuum Valve. Service or replace if needed.
The Vacuum Valve port was designed to accommodate the Vacuum Valve only and any other components should not be installed on this port.
Note that use of the Hybrid Vacuum Safety System must not replace any of the other safety measures conducted in order to ensure a complete watertight seal of the housing.

Care & Maintenance Guidelines

  • Always rinse your housing in fresh water after every dive.
  • Visually inspect the condition of the black O-ring before every dive. If needed, clean or replace the O-ring as described in the housing instruction manual.
  • It is recommended to slightly lubricate the black O-ring periodically.
  • Use only Fantasea silicone grease, as the one supplied with your housing, for lubricating Fantasea O-rings.
  • Avoid removing the white O-ring featured on the back side of the front door unless it’s damaged.
  • Never handle the housing with your hands coated in suntan, oil or cream.
  • Do not drop the housing on hard surfaces, it could crack and its watertight seal might be damaged.
  • Do not disassemble or modify the housing, as this may cause leaks.
  • Do not expose the housing to extreme heat (such as direct sunlight, heater or inside a car in hot weather).
  • Travel with the housing protected in a padded case.
  • Always leave the housing slightly open when transporting by air.
  • Never dive with the housing to a depth greater than 60 meters / 200 feet.
  • Visually monitor the housing during every descent. If water is observed entering the housing or the moisture detector alarm starts beeping, the housing should be rotated to a port down position and held that way as  you immediately return to the surface and safely get it out of the water.
  • When making use of wet lenses and in order to maintain the threads of the lens port, apply a small amount of silicone grease to the threads on the housing port and on the accessory lens prior to installation.
  • Screws longer than 7mm should not be screwed into the housing Tripod Mounting Plate, as they might damage the plate and housing.
