CHARGING
Charge the Versa Tracker with the supplied cable.
Other cables and power adapters that are compatible with USB 2.0, or power
adapters compliant with one or more of the following standards: EN 301489-34,
IEC 62684, YD/T 1591-2009, CNS 15285, ITU L.1000, or another applicable
mobile device power adapter interoperability standard.
WARNING!
Always place the Versa tracker in the center of your suitcase to maximize the
separation distance between the tracker and yourself. At all times, try to
minimize the time that you are in close proximity to the tracker Use damaged
cables or chargers, or charge when moisture is present, which can cause
electric shock. When you use a USB Power Adapter to charge the Tracker, make
sure that the AC plug or AC power cord is fully inserted into the adapter
before you plug it into a power outlet.
-
A solid red light indicates that the battery is charging.
-
A solid green light indicates that charging is complete.
-
An intermittent white light indicates that the Tracker is active.
-
An intermittent blue light indicates that a flight has been scheduled.
Note that no light will be emitted if the Tracker: -
Has not moved for a while,
-
Has no scheduled flight,
-
Is not near the airport.
This is perfectly normal and part of the way in which the
Tracker optimizes its battery usage.
USING THE DEVICE
The Versa Tracker does not have an on/off switch, it will automatically turn
on and off when it’s on the move.
The battery status, indicating how much battery power is remaining, is
available in the app and/or chat tools. It is always worth checking the
battery level before flying. We recommend charging when the battery level is
below 50%. You will receive a low battery notification when there is less than
20% battery power remaining.
RESET
In case the Versa Tracker is charged but somehow doesn’t work please reset the
device by gently pushing a paperclip in the pinhole next to the LED for 10
seconds. When you release the paperclip a white light will blink, indicating
that the tracker has been reset. A subsequent blue light indicates that the
Tracker has started functioning again.
HANDLING
Handle the Versa Tracker with care. It is made of durable plastic but it has
sensitive electronic components inside. The Tracker can get damaged if
dropped, burned, punctured, or crushed, or if it comes in contact with
liquid. Don’t use a damaged Tracker, such as one with a broken cover, as it
may cause injury.
REPAIRING
Don’t open the Versa Tracker and don’t attempt to repair it by yourself.
Disassembling the Tracker may damage it or may cause injury to you. If the
Tracker is damaged, malfunctions, or has come in contact with liquid, contact
Versa. You can find more information about our service at versa.company

BATTERY
Don’t attempt to replace the Versa Tracker battery yourself as you may damage
the battery, which could cause overheating and injury. The lithium-ion battery
in the Tracker should be replaced only by Versa or a Versa Authorized Service
Provider and must be recycled or disposed of separately from household waste.
Do not incinerate the battery.
PROLONGED HEAT EXPOSURE
The Versa Tracker and its USB charging cable comply with applicable surface-
temperature standards and limits.
However, even within these limits, sustained contact with warm surfaces for
long periods of time may cause discomfort or injury. It’s important to keep
the Tracker and its power adapter in a well-ventilated area when charging
them. Take special care if you have a physical condition that affects your
ability to detect heat against the body.
The Versa tracker has an internal temperature sensor to protect the battery from overheating. When the interior temperature exceeds a preset limit, the “kill switch” will restart the entire tracker. This is a hard reset that interrupts all operations for 10 seconds. The state of the tracker is saved on the tracker so that even if this should happen mid-air the tracker will return to this state. This means that no transmissions will be done as a result of the overheating.
RADIO SIGNALS
The Versa Tracker uses radio signals to connect to wireless networks. Since
the Tracker has the purpose of tracking luggage—or other items—it will not
have the same amount of body contact or proximity as a smartphone. Concerns
about Radio Frequency radiation exposure are not applicable.
GSM OPERATION & OUTPUT POWER
The Versa Tracker is intended for global use and has a 2G/3G GSM antenna using
the following frequency bands & output power:
- The output of the GSM/GPRS modem in 850/900MHz bands is class 4 in accordance with the specifications which determine the nominal 2W peak RF power (+32.5dBm) on 50ohm.
- In the 1800/1900MHz bands are class 1 in accordance with the specification which determines the nominal 1W peak RF power (+28.5dBm) on 50ohm.
- Transceiver output of EDGE mode in 850/900MHz bands is class E2 in accordance with the specifications which determine the nominal 0.5W peak RF power (+27dBm) on 50ohm.
- In the 1800/1900MHz bands are class E2 in accordance with the specification which determines the nominal 0.4W peak RF power (+26dBm) on 50ohm.
- The transceiver output of WCDMA mode in 850/900/1900/2100MHz bands is class 3 in accordance with the specifications which determine the nominal 0.25W peak RF power (+23dBm) on 50ohm.
WLAN AND BT
The Versa Tracker uses WIFI 802.11b/g/n:
- 802.11n MCS0-7 in both 20 MHz and 40 MHz bandwidth
- 802.11n MCS32 (RX)
- 802.11n 0.4 µs guard-interval
- Up to 150 Mbps of data rate
- Receiving STBC 2×1
- Transmitting power: the WiFi module only works as a receiver.
The Tracker is compliant with Bluetooth v4.2 BR/EDR and BLE specifications:
- Class-1, class-2, and class-3 transmitters without external power amplifier
- Enhanced Power Control
- Max. transmitting power: 9 dBm (including tolerances)
- NZIF receiver with –97 dBm BLE sensitivity
- Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH)
RADIO FREQUENCY INTERFERENCE
Observe signs and notices that prohibit or restrict the use of mobile phones
(for example, in healthcare facilities or blasting areas). Although the Versa
Tracker is designed, tested, and manufactured to comply with regulations
governing radio frequency emissions, such emissions from the Tracker could
negatively affect the operation of other electronic equipment, causing them to
malfunction. the tracker will automatically switch to Flight Safe Mode to turn
off the Tracker wireless transmitters when use is prohibited while traveling
in aircraft. No action from the user is required for this. Upon arrival at the
Airport, the Tracker will automatically get out of Flight Safe Mode and return
to normal operation mode and broadcast its location.
MEDICAL DEVICES
The Versa Tracker contains radios that emit electromagnetic fields. These
electromagnetic fields may interfere with pacemakers, defibrillators, or other
medical devices. Maintain at least 6 inches (approximately 15 cm) of
separation between your pacemaker or defibrillator and the Tracker. If you
suspect the Tracker is interfering with your pacemaker or any other medical
device, make sure you keep a distance from the Tracker and have another person
place the Tracker in your suitcase.
EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERES
Do not charge or use the Versa Tracker in any area with a potentially
explosive atmosphere, such as a fueling area, or in areas where the air
contains chemicals or particles (such as grain, dust, or metal powders). Obey
all signs and instructions.
