- Read the manual before use and save it for future reference.
- Remove the packaging material from the device.
- Wipe the cooking surfaces with a damp cloth or sponge and a little common dishwashing detergent, followed by clean water. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers.
- Wipe the external surface of the appliance using wet cloth. Do not immerse the appliance in water and do not pour water on the grilling plates!
- Dry the surfaces and body of the appliance with a cloth or paper towel.
Note: You may note a slight odour of smoke when you use the panini maker for the first time. This is normal for most appliances with heating elements and does not present a threat to safety of your appliance. For this reason, we recommend that you “burn” the cooker without food until the smell or smoke fades before using it for the first time. When burning it off keep the panini maker closed.
PREPARING SANDWICHES
-
First, prepare the pastry filled with ingredients.
-
Close the panini maker and plug it into a power outlet. Note that both the red and green lights turn on.
-
It takes about 3–5 minutes to reach the baking temperature, then the green light goes out.
-
Open the lid.
-
To achieve an even better golden brown colour, you can lightly brush the surface of the pastry that is in contact with the plate with butter.
-
Put the bread on the grilling plate.
Note: Do not overfill the bread, the filling could spill onto the grilling areas.
Carefully fold the upper baking surface over so that the panini maker is completely closed. Do not close the panini maker by force or it may be damaged. -
The light comes on again. Bake for 3–8 minutes until golden, or until the light goes out again. The baking time depends on the ingredients used and your personal taste.
-
When your meal is ready, open the lid of the panini maker using the handle. To remove the food, use a plastic spatula.
Warning: Never use metal tools or sharp kitchen utensils. You could damage the non-stick surface of the baking plates. -
Unplug the cord from the outlet after you are finished using the panini maker.
Note: The green indicator light flashes on and off, signalling readiness for grilling, depending how is the correct temperature of the grilling plates maintained. The correct temperature is indicated by the indicator light going off.
GRILLING
Use as a contact grill
- Prepare hamburgers, boneless or thin pieces of meat or other foods according to the recipe and place them on the lower grill plate.
- Close the top grilling plate. The plate has a floating hinge that is designed to evenly press the food to be cooked. The top plate must be laid freely to ensure that the food is properly grilled.
- When your meal is ready, open the lid of the panini maker using the handle. To remove the food, use a plastic spatula. Never use metal tongs or a knife as they can damage the non-stick surface of the plates.
- Use the panini maker as a contact grill for preparing burgers, boneless or thin cuts of meat and vegetables.
- Use the panini maker as a contact grill to quickly prepare food or if you are looking for a healthy way to grill. When cooking on a contact grill, the food is ready quickly because you grill both sides of the food at the same time. The ribbing on the grill plates allows the fat and baked-on juices to drain naturally through the groove into the drip tray.
Use as an open grill
-
You can use the panini maker also as an open grill. Place it on a clean flat surface.
-
The upper cooking plate is in the open position flush with the lower cooking plate. The top and bottom plates are arranged to form two grilling surfaces. The panini maker can be opened to this position by releasing the top by sliding the slider (5) on the right side of the grill.
-
With your right hand, slide the slide towards you and hold; with your left hand, grasp the handle of the top of the machine and push the handle away from you until the top is on the table. Now you can grill like on an open grill. Once you close the top again, the lock secures the top and you can use the panini maker as a contact grill again.
Note: W hen handling the grill (opening/closing/position setting) be careful, since the plate surfaces can be hot. -
Use the panini maker as an open grill for preparing burgers, steaks, boneless poultry (we do not recommend preparing chicken with bones as it will not cook evenly), fish and vegetables.
-
Open grill is the most versatile method of using panini makers. In the open position, you have double the grilling area.
-
On an open grill, you can simultaneously prepare different types of food without affecting taste or smell, or you can prepare larger quantities of the same type of food. You can also cook pieces of meat of various thickness at various cooking times on an open grill, so you can prepare each piece of meat to your liking.
CLEANING AND STORAGE
Before cleaning, always unplug the power cord from the power outlet and wait for the panini maker to cool down. Remove the drip tray and wash with warm water and detergent after each use. Do not use abrasives or sharp tools as they may damage the surface of the containers. Pat dry and leave to dry. Remove food residues from the cooking surfaces by gently wiping the surfaces with a damp cloth or sponge and a little common dishwashing detergent, followed by clean water. Moisten the baked-in residue using a solution of warm water and detergent and remove it using a plastic spatula, or place a wet paper towel on the grilling plates to soak the baked-in residue. Do not use abrasive cleaners or wire cloths or other sharp objects or tools that could scratch the non-stick surface. Wipe the external surface of the appliance using wet cloth. Do not use cleaning powders or scrubbers for external surface cleaning. You could damage the surface finish. Do not immerse the appliance in water and do not pour water on the grilling plates! Do not wash the appliance in the dishwasher. Always make sure the unit is cold and dry before storing it.
