BEFORE THE FIRST USE

  • Unpack the appliance and its accessories. Wash the accessories in hot, soapy water and then wipe them dry with a paper towel. Check that the blades and container are clean and dry.
  • Position the blender on a flat and level surface.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Fit the container onto the motor unit. This unit is equipped with micro sensors which will only let the blender function if the jar is properly in place.
  2. Prepare your food by cutting into small pieces, about 1×1 inch.
  3. Add in the desired level of water or liquid into the container. Next, add desired food or ice, according to the recipe or preparation you are making. Pay attention that all food and liquids do not exceed the max line (8 cups / 2 L).
  4. Fit the lid onto the container and make sure it is locked in position. It is important that the lid is properly secured to avoid any spilling or splatter.
  5. If necessary, place the lid cap/measuring cup in the middle part of the lid.
  6. Plug the appliance in. Follow the instructions below for the various modes and functions you can use.

This blender has 1 main knob and 2 switches, as well as three, presets to choose from. An ON/OFF switch, a Pulse switch, a manual speed control dial, and “Ice – Smoothie – Soup” modes.

ON/OFF

To turn on the blender, flip the ON/OFF switch to “ON”. The blender is now ready for use in any function.
After use, flip the power switch to “OFF”.

This blender will not work in any function unless this switch is turned on. You can also stop any functioning using this switch.

Speed controller

With the power switch flipped ON, turn the speed controller between its minimum and maximum level according to desired speed. It is generally recommended to start at slower speeds and gradually increase if using its maximum capacity.
Do not operate for more than 2 minutes at a time. Allow the motor to cool for 30 minutes before operating again.
Important: The device can only be operated if the central dial is initially turned to position “OFF” and then turned to desired speed.

Mode function (M)KALORIK BL44440 HIGH-POWERED BLENDER fig
4

Turn power switch to ON position. Then, turn the center dial to “M”. The buttons “Ice – Smoothies – Soup” will start blinking to indicate Mode function has been selected. This will also turn on “Pulse” function.
Press down on the button for the desired mode. The button will illuminate to indicate it has been selected. Press the same button again to stop the function. The buttons will start blinking again.

Pulse

Turn central dial to “M” mode. Press down to pulse. Press down in consecutively until desired consistency is reached.

NOTE: The pulse function should not be used continuously for more than 1 minute.
Ice function
The blender will start to pulse in repetition to crush ice. Keep mode selected until desired consistency has been reached.

NOTE: When crushing ice, ALWAYS add some liquid, as this will help the blending process. Fill the pitcher to about 2 cups with ice to allow room for the ice to move freely and achieve a more even consistency.

Smoothie function
The blender will start and gradually increase in speed automatically for a pre-set time. You may stop this function early or blend more in manual mode if desired consistency is not reached.

NOTE: If the system gets clogged while blending, use tamper to facilitate the blending process. You can also add more liquid if necessary.

Soup function

Your Kalorik blender will start automatically: Speed will increase until it reaches maximum speed and will stop by itself. The speed of the blades is enough to heat up cold liquids and foods, allowing for a soup preparation.
We suggest starting with cold or room temperature liquids to avoid going past the maximum limit on hot liquids and avoid excessive pressure build-up.
This function can raise the temperature of room-temperature ingredients by approximately 10-15°F per minute. A soup is generally considered ready once heavy steam issues from the hole in the lid, and that it reaches around 160°F.
Note: Temperature is for reference. Different foods and ingredients may heat up at different rates.
Always remove the lid cap / measuring cup from the main lid when using soup function and leave lid hole unobstructed.
Note: While using “SOUP” function, even though foods and liquids may be heated inside the container, it is preferable to pre-cook any foods
(veggies, etc.) you wish to use.

SAFETY GUIDELINES WHEN BLENDING WITH HOT LIQUIDS

Be careful when adding and mixing hot ingredients or removing the lid from the Blender Jar. Steam might escape unexpectedly. ALWAYS remove lid cap to prevent pressure build-up.
Never use this device to process boiling liquids. Liquids must be below 115°F and container cannot exceed HOT LIQUIDS maximum (3 cups/ 0.7 L). Do not increase speed to more than the medium speed setting and do not let run for more than 4 minutes at a time.
Allow the appliance to cool down for 30 minutes before using it again in between two uses. Do not operate while empty. To use the tamper, place long end in the middle hole of the lid while lid is securely placed on the container. Use it to press down food and bring it back into the blades’ reach and aid with circulation. Do not place tamper in the blender for more than 30 consecutive seconds to avoid the blender overheating.

  1. Never open the lid when blades are still rotating. For extra caution, you can unplug the appliance before any removal.
  2. To add liquid ingredients during processing, remove the measuring cup of the lid and pour liquid through the opening. If the results are not satisfactory, switch the appliance off and stir the ingredients using the provided tamper. Tamper should only be used while appliance is running through the hole in the lid while lid is securely fastened on. Do not use tamper for more than 30 consecutive seconds.
  3. This appliance can reach high rotation speeds* which may result in heat being produced by the appliance. This appliance is equipped with special fans to cool down the appliance and prevent overheating. Should overheating occur, unplug the appliance, and allow it to cool for a few minutes before trying to restart the blending process.

Tips & Tricks:

  • Try to maintain a one-to-one ratio of liquids to solids when blending frozen fruit. When blending fresh fruit and vegetables, use a 2:3 ratio of liquids to solids and gradually add liquid to achieve desired consistency.
  • When blending hot foods, make sure that there is adequate steam release. Do NOT place under cabinets or place hands and face over appliance when using “SOUP” function. Do NOT place food or liquids hotter than 115°F into the container as the friction from the blades will increase the temperature as they blend.
  • For best results, add liquids first, then powders, then solids, and then ice.
  • If an air bubble occurs underneath the foods, simply use the provided tamper to get them within reach of the spinning blades. For thicker blending, such as for pastes or spreads, you can use the tamper to push the food “down” onto the blades. This will facilitate blending and provide a smoother consistency. Thicker mixtures work best when blended at a low to medium setting for a longer time, as this helps incorporate air into the mixture for a creamier result.
  • When blending harder items such as nuts, pre-soaking will facilitate the blending process.
  • Always start at a low speed and gradually increase for smoother consistency.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Unplug the appliance before cleaning.
  • Make sure to clean the appliance after each use. Clean the appliance before use if it has not been used in a while.
  • Do not immerse the motor base in water. Clean the motor base with a wet cloth and dry with a dry paper towel or cloth.
  • The blending container can be cleaned by filling it with soapy water about halfway and setting the blender on low speed, gradually increasing to max, and letting it run for 30 to 60 seconds. Turn appliance off and remove the container from its base and use a sponge or wet cloth to remove remaining food. Do not attempt to remove blades from the blender as this may cause injury and damage the blender. The blender jar is also dishwasher safe.
  • All accessories and removable parts, except for the tamper tool, are dishwasher safe. To wash by hand, use warm, soapy water and rinse. Allow to air dry before storage.
  • NEVER use abrasive cleansers as this may scratch the surface of the housing.
  • Allow the parts to dry thoroughly before reassembling the device and/or storing. This helps to avoid mold or mildew buildup.

RECIPES

Spinach Power Smoothie
Ingredients:

  • 1 cup spinach leaves
  • ½ cup frozen green grapes
  • ½ cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1 large banana, chopped and frozen
  • 1 cup almond milk (can be substituted by milk or liquid of choice)

Place all ingredients in the jar, starting with the liquid and soft ingredients and adding the frozen or hard ingredients on top.
Blend on “SMOOTHIE” setting until desired consistency is reached, or until preset time is up. Use the tamper to press the ingredients into the blades if necessary. Pour the smoothie in a large cup and enjoy! Note: For a higher protein option, add a scoop of your favorite vanilla protein powder.

Hummus
Ingredients:

  •  1 can chickpeas
  •  tablespoons olive oil
  • ¼ cup tahini
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/3 cup chickpea water (aquafaba)
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Drain the can of chickpeas, keeping the aquafaba (chickpea water) in a separate bowl. Place all ingredients in the jar, starting with the chickpea water. Process on low and gradually increase to a medium speed, using tamper if necessary, to push ingredients onto the blades. Once no more whole chickpeas are visible, reduce speed back to low and keep processing until you reach a creamy consistency, around 3 minutes. Add more liquids if necessary, ¼ cup at a time.

Roasted Potato and Veggie soup
Ingredients:

  • 4 Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3 carrots, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3 celery sticks, chopped
  • ½ small onion, diced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cups vegetable broth (ROOM TEMP / CHILLED)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 sprigs of fresh parsley

Cover your vegetables in olive oil, salt, and pepper. Using your Kalorik Air Fryer Oven, roast the potatoes and carrots for 15 minutes, flipping halfway. Add celery and onion and roast an additional 5-7 minutes, until onions are no longer opaque and have become tender. Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes, or until the vegetables have cooled to 115 °F. You can also let the vegetables cool completely. Add vegetable broth to blender and place cooked vegetables on top. Place lid on with lid cap REMOVED and select “SOUP” mode. The blades will start spinning, increasing in speed until it reaches its maximum velocity. The friction of the blades will produce heat, which will in turn heat up the soup. Allow blender to blend until steam begins to issue from the top of the lid, which should take around 5 minutes of blending. If necessary, add more broth to thin out the soup, ¼ cup at a time, or use tamper to push food down onto the blades. The soup should be ready once it reaches about 160 °F. Add parsley and blend on low for 15 seconds, for an added tang. Serve hot.

Home-made Almond Butter
Ingredients:

  • 10 oz Raw or Roasted almonds
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional flavorings (see below)

Place the almonds in your Kalorik blender. Turn speed on low and blend. For crunchy almond butter, reserve some of the almond bits early on, which you will incorporate later. The almonds will first turn into a fine powder and gradually start to turn into a thicker paste. If the blender no longer seems to be reaching the almonds or is spinning without blending, turn it off and gently scrape the sides using a spatula or the provided tamper to push down the almond mixture onto the blades. This is not bringing them towards the center but rather within reach of the blades on the side. You may need to do this several times until desired consistency is reached. Fret not! Almond butter takes time, but you will begin to notice that slowly, as the paste thins out, the almond butter will seem to “churn” at a faster rate around the blades, an indication that it is almost ready. At this point, you can add salt, ¼ tsp at a time, to your liking and any other add ins you may like. Once the salt has been blended in, if you reserved some almond “crunch”, this is the time to add them in, being careful not to process too much or using a wooden spoon or spatula to incorporate the almond bits. OPTIONAL: You can spice up your almond butter by adding things like honey, maple syrup, cinnamon, cocoa powder, or any spice that inspires you. Feel free to also play around with peanuts, sunflower seeds, or any type of nut. The possibilities are endless!

Easy Blender Lemon Curd

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup lemon juice (from approximately 3-4 lemons)
  • Zest from 1 lemon
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/8 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature

Place all of the ingredients other than the butter into your Kalorik blender. Place lid on blender with lid cap removed. Start on low, gradually increasing to its highest setting and blend for 5 to 7 minutes, until moderately heavy steam starts to come out of the top. If the mixture is not thick enough, keep blending on high for one-minute intervals. The curd should start to thicken, to the point where you feel slight resistance coming from the mixture when stirring with a spoon. The mixture should reach 170°F to ensure the mixture is properly cooked through. At this point, it should start to have a pale-yellow color and no more froth at the top. Once this is achieved, reduce the speed to medium and add butter, one tablespoon at a time with about 10 seconds in between each addition. Make sure the butter is nicely incorporated before adding another tablespoon. Once all the butter is added, blend for another 30 seconds to a minute. To test your lemon curd for doneness, dip a spoon in your mixture and run your finger on the back. If it leaves a clear path, your curd is ready! Place in fridge overnight to set, and use for filling, in pies, as a spread, or to add a touch of zesty sweetness to your crepes and waffles. Keep in fridge to preserve or freeze as needed.

Frozen Margaritas
Ingredients (for 2 margaritas):

  •  1/3 cup tequila
  • ¼ cup Grand Marnier (can substitute for triple sec)
  • 1/3 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1 tbsp agave nectar
  • 2 cups ice

Place all ingredients (with ice last) in the container and blend on medium until smooth, about 1 minute—you will no longer hear or see ice being crushed by the blades. Add more Agave nectar or lime juice to taste. Serve immediately.

Banana “Nice” Cream
Ingredients:

  • 4-5 peeled bananas, chopped and frozen
  • Splash of milk (plant-based or cow’s) as needed

Place the chopped and peeled frozen bananas in the jar. Blend on low until smooth and creamy. If needed, add a splash of milk to help even out the consistency. Serve immediately in a bowl or on a cone for a soft serve, freeze for 30 minutes to an hour for a firmer ice cream.
Variations:

  •  Nut butter ice cream: Add 1 tbsp of peanut / almond butter
  • Vanilla ice cream: Add ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Mocha ice cream: Add 2 tbsp cocoa powder and 1 tsp instant coffee
  • Chocolate-banana ice cream: drizzle melted chocolate /chocolate syrup in your ice cream and mix with a spoon
