Using the AC power adapter
The AC / DC Switching adapter supplied with this unit has an output of 19V – 1.8A center pin positive. Insert the adapter plug into the DC socket on the rear of the radio. Plug the adapter into a standard AC outlet. The AC adapter should  be disconnected from the AC outlet when not in use for long periods of time.
IMPORTANT: The AC adapter is used as the means of connecting the radio to your power supply. The AC adapter used for the radio must remain accessible during normal use. In order to disconnect the radio from the power supply completely, the AC adapter should be removed from the power supply outlet completely.

Operating your radio FM / AM

  1. Fully extend the FM telescopic antenna located on the rear of your radio.
The radio comes with a built-in AM antenna which should be enough for normal listening. Rotate your radio for best reception. To improve the AM reception, you may connect an external AM antenna (not included) to the AM antenna terminal.

  2. Turn on your radio by rotating the Mode knob to the FM or AM position.

  3. Rotate the Tuning control knob to select the desired station. The Tuning LED indicator will appear brightest when the best tuning has been achieved.

  4. Adjust the Volume control knob and Tone control knob for comfortable listening.

  5. To switch off the radio, turn the Mode knob to the OFF position.

Listening to Bluetooth music

You need to pair your Bluetooth device with your radio before you can auto- link to play / stream Bluetooth music through your radio. Paring creates a ‘bond’ so two devices can recognize each other.
Pairing your Bluetooth device for the first time

  1. Rotate the Mode knob to select the Bluetooth mode.
The Bluetooth LED indicator will flash blue.

  2. Activate Bluetooth on your device according to the device’s user manual to link to your radio. Some smartphones that are equipped with earlier Bluetooth versions older than BT2.1 may need to input the pass code “0000”.

  3. Once connected, there will be a confirmation tone sound and the Bluetooth LED indicator will remain illuminated blue. You can now play the music from your Bluetooth-enabled device to the radio.

  4. When listening to Bluetooth music, it is recommended to adjust the volume of the Bluetooth device (such as a mobile phone) to the maximum first, and then adjust the volume of WR-101 to achieve better sound quality.

Notes:

  • If 2 Bluetooth devices are pairing for the first time, both must search for your radio, it will show its availability on both devices. However, if one device links with this unit first, then the other Bluetooth device won’t find it on the list.
  • If you take your Bluetooth device out of range, the connection between your device and the radio will be temporarily disconnected. Your radio will automatically reconnect if the Bluetooth device is brought back into range. Be aware  that during the period of disconnection, no other Bluetooth device can pair or link with your radio.
  • If “WR-101” shows up in your Bluetooth device list, but your Bluetooth device cannot connect with it, please delete the item from your list and pair the Bluetooth device with the radio again following the steps described previously.
  • The effective operation range between the radio and the paired Bluetooth device is approximately 10 meters (30 feet). Any obstacle between the system and the device can reduce the operational range.
  • Bluetooth connectivity performance may vary depending on the connected Bluetooth device. Please refer to the Bluetooth capabilities of your device before connecting it to your radio. Not all features may be supported, depending on the Bluetooth device used.
  • With some mobile phones, making / receiving calls, text messages, e-mails or any other activities unrelated to audio streaming may mute the Bluetooth audio streaming or even temporarily disconnect from your device. Such  behavior is a function of the Bluetooth device and does not indicate a problem with your WR-101.

Audio playback from a previously-paired Bluetooth device
The WR-101 can memorize up to 6 sets of paired Bluetooth devices, when the memory exceeds this amount, the earliest device with which the radio was paired will be overwritten in the radio’s memory. If your Bluetooth device has paired  with the WR-101 previously, the radio will still remember your Bluetooth device and attempt to reconnect with the device that was last connected.

Disconnecting your Bluetooth device

Rotate the Mode knob to select any mode other than Bluetooth mode to disconnect with your Bluetooth device or turn off Bluetooth function on your Bluetooth device to disable the connection.

AUX IN socket
A 3.5mm Auxiliary input socket is provided on the back of your radio to permit an audio signal to be fed into the unit from an external audio device such as iPod, MP3 or CD player.

  1. Rotate the Mode knob to select “AUX”.
  2. Connect an external audio source to the Auxiliary input socket.
  3. Adjust the volume setting on your external audio source to ensure an adequate signal level from the player, and then rotate the Volume control knob on the radio as needed for comfortable listening.

Headphone use

Headphone use with this radio should be fitted with a 3.5mm connector. Insert the headphones connector into the socket marked on the back side of the radio. When the headphones are plugged in, the loudspeaker is  automatically disconnected.
Important:
Excessive sound pressure from earphones and headphones can cause hearing loss.
To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen at high volume levels for long periods.

Dimmer control

In order to adapt the intensity of the dial to suit the ambient room lighting, rotate the Dimmer knop on the back of your radio to adjust your desired dimmer setting in FM / AM mode.

Charging with USB socket

Your radio has a USB Type-C socket which is intended for charging a smartphone or similar device. Charge time may vary and in some cases may take longer to charge than when using the manufacturers charging unit supplied with the smart phone.
Note: The USB device cannot be charged in AM mode because of interference.
Charging mobile phones (for example) or other devices may affect the listening quality when listening to the FM band.
IMPORTANT:

  • The USB port has an output power of 5V / 3A in power off mode and 5V / 1.5A in FM / Bluetooth / AUX mode. It does not support external hard disk drives and some mobile phones or electronic devices.
  • The charger may not supply power to some USB devices.
  • Do not connect a power source to the USB port. Otherwise there is a risk of fire. The USB port is only intended for charging lower voltage devices.
  • Do not insert a nail, wire, etc. into USB power supply port. Otherwise a short circuit may cause smoke or fire.
  • Do not connect this USB socket with your PC USB port, as it is highly possible that it may cause breakdown of both units.
  • Never use the USB socket in rainy or moist conditions to prevent moisture from entering the radio.
