RECOMMENDATIONS FOR GETTING AN ACCURATE READING

Always weigh yourself on the same scale at the same time, preferably when you wake up and before getting dressed.
Wait about 15 minutes after getting up so the water can distribute itself through your body.
It is important to weigh yourself with dry, bare feet positioned correctly on the electrodes (see figure).
Avoid contact between the legs so the scale operates correctly. Scale precision could vary in the following cases:
a. high level of alcohol
b. high level of caffeine or drugs
c. after heavy meals
d. after rigorous sports activities
e. during illness
f. during pregnancy
g. when dehydrated
h. with wet or unclean feet
i. swollen legs

BODY COMPOSITION GUIDE

The body composition is made up of:

  • lean mass: all components without fat (water, muscle, connective is s use and other non-fatty organic components ), bone, bowels, organs, and blood;
  • fatty mass: all fats that can be extracted from adipose tissue and other tissues/organs ;
  • bone mass.

Through the electrodes located on the platform, the scale sends a weak, low- intensity electrical current that passes through the body. The different masses respond differently to the current: lean mass provides less resistance than the opposite. This body resistance is called bioelectrical impedance. The relative percentage of the various body masses varies

Below are some common body composition metrics that appear in-app when the scale is connected to your smartphone (see section connecting the scale to your smartphone). The information to follow is to give you an indication only. Consult your doctor or dietician if you have any questions or concerns.

Considerations
When assessing your body composition trend, it is neces s try to keep the following in mind:

  • A decrease in weight accompanied by no change in body fat or even an increase in body fat means that your body only lost water (for example, after exercising, time in the sauna or a limited diet for rapid weight loss).
  • An increase in weight accompanied by a decrease or no change in body fat indicates the development of muscle mass.
  • When the weight and body fat decrease at the same time it means that your diet is working and volume is being lost.

Body Fat Percentage
Body fat percentage is the amount of body fat as a proportion of your body weight. The body fat percentage indicated in the table below represents the total fat that is calculated by adding essential fat and storage fat. Essential fat is necessary for various bodily functions. The percentage is 3% in men and 12% in women. Storage fat gives energy protects against physical trauma and insulates the body to preserve heat. These percentages vary with the age and gender of the individual as shown in the table below. In Fitdays™, there will be an automatic comparison of your

Percentage of Body Water
The % of water in the body differs based on gender: in healthy adult women, it ranges from 45% to 60% while in men it ranges from 50% to 65%. The percentage of water is greater in childhood and

decreases with age. Body weight variations can occur in a short period of time (hours), a medium period (days), or over a long period (weeks). Small variations in weight over a few hours is normal and due to water retention since extracellular water (which includes the interstitial fluid,

The body mass index (BMI) is the relation of body weight to height. The classification given below is correlated to the risk that body weight exerts on health.
When BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9 it means that the weight does not statisti-

Any deviation, above or below this BMI interval should be considered a health risk. In this case, we recommend consulting a physician. Getting in the habit of following a balanced diet helps improve quality of life, promote health and prevent illness, increase vitality, and maintain ideal It is important to know that BMI does not allow accounting for weight variations due to muscle mass, bone mass, water content or fat accumulation. Therefore, a simple BMI calculation alone should not be misinterpreted. The evaluation of BMI should be made by a doctor or other specialists such as a nutritionist or dietitian. In Fitdays™, there will be an automatic comparison of your measured BMI against a range chart for your reference.

Muscle Mass Percentage
Muscle mass is the weight of the muscles in your body. There are three different types of muscle: smooth, striated skeletal, and striated cardiac. Smooth muscle is made of smooth fibres. These are found in the walls of the digestive tract, respiratory tract, and genital tract and in the wall of the venous and arterial blood vessels. Human striated skeletal muscle is in the skeletal and facial muscles. C a r d i a c striated muscle is found in the heart. Muscles play an important part in overall health, including maintaining regular body functions. Muscle mass starts to decrease with age. Keeping track of muscle metrics over time, along with other body composition metrics, can provide indications of your health and fitness. This scale captures and displays in the Fitdays™ app 3 muscle metrics: muscle mass (lbs/kg), muscle rate (all muscle types), and skeletal muscle (%). On average, 40% of body mass is made up of skeletal muscles.

Bone Mass Information
Bone mass is the weight of bone minerals in your body. It is important that you develop and maintain healthy bones by having a balanced diet and plenty of exercise es. Keep track of your bone mass over time for any changes in the long term. Your bone mass tends to decrease after the age of 30. Below is a chart to show an average of estimated bone mass based on weight and gender. In Fitdays™, there will be an automatic comparison of your measured bone mass against a range chart for your reference also.
