GROUNDED PLUG
To reduce the risk of electric shock this appliance has a grounded plug (2
blades and 1 pin). If the plug does not fit fully into the electrical outlet
contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way or use an
adaptor.
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed including the following:

Read all instructions.

DO NOT touch hot surfaces. Use handles or buttons.

To protect against electrical hazards, do not immerse cord, plugs, or the appliance in water or other liquid.

Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. This appliance can be used by children from 8 years and above, with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision or instruction and they understand the hazards involved. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children aged less than 8 years old. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning the appliance.

DO NOT operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the manufacturer for examination, repair or electrical or mechanical adjustment. All servicing, other than cleaning, should be performed by an authorized service representative. See Guarantee section.

The use of accessories or attachments not recommended by the manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or personal injury.

DO NOT use outdoors.

DO NOT let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.

DO NOT place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.

DO NOT use appliance for other than intended use.

DO NOT leave unit unattended while in use.

DO NOT close the dispense outlet when water is flowing.

Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot liquids.

DO NOT use Kettle without the Lid in place.

Scalding may occur if the Lid is opened while the Kettle is hot.

Always ensure that the Drip Tray is in position and a mug is on the Drip Tray when Water Dispensing Port is open. Keep hands away from Water Dispensing Port when Water Dispensing Port is open.

Always close the Water Dispensing Port before removing the kettle from
the Power Base. To avoid risk of scalding from remaining water in the dispensing spout after one cup boiling. -
If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected..

This appliance should only be used with the stand provided.

Avoid spillages on the stand or connector.

Use the appliance according to these instructions. Any misuse may cause potential injury, electric shock or other hazards.

The surface of the heating element is subject to residual heat after use.

Surfaces are liable to get hot during use.
CARE AND CLEANING
- All servicing, other than cleaning, should be performed by an authorised service representative. See Guarantee section.
- Unplug Kettle from wall outlet. Empty the Kettle and allow it to cool before cleaning.
Exterior
- Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior.
- DO NOT use abrasive cleaners. Dry exterior thoroughly before use.
- DO NOT immerse kettle or Power Base in water or other liquid.
Drip tray
- Remove steel insert and wipe down both parts with a damp cloth.
- DO NOT use scouring pads or abrasive materials. Dry thoroughly.
BEFORE FIRST USE
- Read all instructions carefully and keep them for future reference.
- Remove all packaging.
- Ensure that the filter is installed in the kettle.
- Plug the Power Base into a 220-240V AC wall outlet.
- Fill the kettle to the MAX fill line with cold tap water. Bring to a boil and discard. Repeat.
- The kettle is now ready to use
HOW TO USE

Open the Lid by pressing the Lid Opening Button and fill with a minimum of 500 ml (2 cups) of water.

DO NOT attempt to fill the Kettle while it is plugged into the wall outlet.
DO NOT use for other than boiling water. Other liquids will contaminate the interior of the kettle. -
DO NOT fill past the MAX level indicated on the Water Level Window. Overfilling may cause water to dispense or spit out of lid when boiling.

Close the Lid.
-
Place the Kettle on the Power Base on a flat, level, dry, heat resistant surface. Ensure that it is correctly engaged on the Power Base.

Plug into a 220v – 240v AC wall outlet.
NOTE: Never plug kettle into an electrical outlet when the kettle is empty. -
Direct kettle spout away from cabinets, walls, etc. to prevent possible steam damage.

Depress the Power Button on the Lid and the white indicator light will be visible through the Water Level Window indicating that the kettle is in the boil cycle. Once the water has boiled, the indicator light will go out and the Kettle will shut off. To turn off the kettle at any time, press the Stop Button.
IMPORTANT:
a) The kettle shuts off automatically after the boiling cycle is complete.
b) If the kettle is removed from the Power Base before the boiling cycle is complete kettle will automatically shut off.
c) To turn the kettle off before the boiling cycle is complete, press the Stop Button. -
The Lid should not be opened when the Kettle is hot.

If you want to use the Kettle again, allow the thermal safety switch to cool down for 15 to 20 seconds then depress Power Button.
-
Return the Kettle to the Power Base or a heat resistant surface after use.
-
IMPORTANT : If the Kettle is accidently switched on when empty, the thermostat will automatically cycle on and off to prevent the Kettle from overheating. If this situation occurs, press the Stop Button and unplug the Kettle immediately. Let the Kettle cool before refilling.

It is recommended that the Power Cord be disconnected from the wall outlet when not in use.
-
DO NOT attempt to connect any other appliance to the Power Base or tamper with the connector in any way.
WATER DISPENSER MODE
-
Follow steps 1-6 in the HOW TO USE section.
-
Ensure Drip Tray is in position and open the Water Dispensing Port by pressing the Water Dispensing Port Opening Button.

Place a mug on Drip Tray. IMPORTANT NOTE: A mug must ALWAYS be placed on the Drip Tray when Water Dispensing Port is open.

Select your desired cup size by turning the dial around the Power Button, and Press the Power Button (Minimum 150ml, middle 200ml, maximum 250ml).

When water has boiled it will automatically pour into the mug from the Water Dispensing Port and the kettle will shut off.
IMPORTANT:
a) The kettle shuts off automatically after the boiling cycle is complete.
b) If the kettle is removed from the Power Base before the boiling cycle is complete the kettle will automatically shut off.
c) To turn the kettle off before the boiling cycle is complete, press the Stop Button.
d) Always close the Water Dispensing Port before removing the kettle from the Power Base.
e) The dispenser will be hot to the touch after dispensing. -
Return the Kettle to the Power Base or a heat resistant surface after use.

IMPORTANT: If the Kettle is accidently switched on when empty, the thermostat will automatically cycle on and off to prevent the Kettle from overheating. If this situation occurs, press the Stop Button and unplug the Kettle immediately. Let the Kettle cool before refilling.

It is recommended that the Power Cord be disconnected from the wall outlet when not in use.

DO NOT attempt to connect any other appliance to the Power Base or tamper with the connector in any way.

DO NOT close the dispenser mid cycle.
DESCALING
Under normal use, scale build-up will form on the inside of the Kettle and will coat the stainless steel plate. Scale, which has accumulated inside the Kettle must be removed.
- Boil equal parts of white vinegar and water. (500 ml / 2 cups of each is recommended)
- Once the water has boiled, allow the mixture to stand several hours or overnight.
- Empty out the mixture and fill the Kettle to the MAX level with fresh water.
- Bring water to a boil and discard.
- For heavier scale build-up, use pure vinegar, boil, then let stand overnight.
- Empty out vinegar and fill the Kettle to the MAX level with fresh water.
- Bring water to a boil and discard.
- For the heaviest scale build-up use a scale/lime remover and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
NOTE:
- Scale build-up can be reduced by pouring out water after Kettle use then refilling the Kettle when required.
- The descaling process should be repeated periodically.
- The use of filtered water can help to lengthen the life of your appliances by reducing limescale build up.
INSTALLATION
A short supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of becoming entangled in or tripping over a long cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.The extension cord should be a grounded 3-wire cord. The extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table top, where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
This symbol on the products and accompanying documents means that used electrical and electronic products should not be mixed with general household waste.
For proper disposal or treatment, recovery and recycling, please take these products to designated collection points where they will be accepted on a free of charge basis. In some countries you may be able to return your products to your local retailer upon the purchase of a new product.
Disposing of this product correctly will help you save valuable resources and
prevent any possible effects on human health and the environment, which could
otherwise arise from inappropriate waste handling. Please contact your local
authority for further details of your nearest collection point for WEEE.
Penalties may be applicable for the incorrect disposal of this product in
accordance with national legislation.

2.4KW appliance conforms to the (LVD) 2014/35/EU, (EMC) 2014/30/EU and (RoHS)

This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications
such as:
- staff kitchen area in shops, offices and other working environments;
- farm houses;
- by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
- bed and breakfast type environments.
Do not immerse in water.
Warning! Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
The 3KW product is supplied with a BS 1363 mains plug containing a 13A fuse. If it ever becomes necessary to replace the fuse, only use fuses that are marked BS 1362, and rated at 13A.
The 2.4KW product has a main cord and CEE 7/7 plug supplied for use in
European markets.

PRODUCT GUARANTEE INFORMATION
The Laica appliance carries a 12 (twelve) month guarantee period from date of purchase. The rights and benefits under this guarantee are additional to your statutory rights which are not affected.
Please keep your receipt or invoice to indicate the date of purchase as this will form the basis of your guarantee. Please staple your receipt to this guarantee for future reference.
To qualify for the 12 month guarantee, the appliance must have been used according to the instructions supplied.

We undertake within the specified guarantee period to repair or replace any part of the appliance, free of charge provided that;
- We are promptly informed of the defect;
- The fault has not been caused or has not been attributable to accidental use, misuse, negligent use or used contrary to the manufacturer’s recommendations or the fault has not been caused by power surges or damage caused in transit;
- The appliance has not been modified or altered in any way or repaired by a person other than an authorised service agent for Laica;
- No rights are given under this guarantee to a person acquiring the appliance second hand or for commercial or communal use or the appliance has been used for hire purposes;
- The appliance has not been used on a voltage supply other than that stamped on the appliance;
- The need for repair has not been caused by insufficient aftercare or cleaning;
- Any repaired or replaced appliance will be guaranteed on these terms for the unexpired portion of the guarantee;
- Under no circumstances shall the application of this guarantee give rise to the complete replacement of the appliance or entitle the consumer to damages.
