Thank you for purchasing the Nedis DTCTHL20WT.
This document is the user manual and contains all the information for correct, efficient and safe use of the product.
This user manual is addressed to the end user. Read this information carefully before installing or using the product.
Always store this information with the product for use in the future.
Product description
The Nedis DTCTHL20WT is a heat detector for ceilings in rooms where vapor and dust from gases cause a smoke alarm to sound a false alarm. For example in kitchens, garages and wet spaces.
The heat detector emits a powerful 85 dB sound to alert bystanders.
The heat detector has a built-in battery (not replacable) with a service life of 10 years.
The product complies with standard BS 5446-2: 2003.
Intended use
The product is exclusively intended as an emergency heat detector.
Any modification of the product may have consequences for safety, warranty and proper functioning.

Safety instructions
WARNING
- Only use the product as described in this manual.
- Do not use a damaged product.
- Keep the heat detector out of the reach of children.
- Protect the heat detector against dust during renovation activities. When shielding, the heat detector loses its functionality.
- Do not paint the heat detector.
- Do not place the heat detector within 50 cm of the wall.
- Do not test the heat detector with candles, open flames, cigarettes and such.
- Do not place the heat detector in the corners of the ceiling.
- Do not place the heat detector in high pointed ceilings.
- Do not place the heat detector in front of a fan or outlet for air conditioning or heating.
- Test the heat detector once per week to ensure proper operation.
Installation
- Check the contents of the package
- Check that all parts from the parts list are present and that no damage is visible on the parts. If parts are missing or damaged, contact the Nedis B.V. service desk via the website: www.nedis.com.
Installation of the heat detector
- Do not place the heat detector within 50 cm of the wall.
- Do not place the heat detector in the corners of the ceiling.
1. Remove the mounting bracket 3 by turning it counterclockwise.
2. Place the mounting bracket in the desired location on the ceiling.
3. Mark the drill holes with a pencil using the mounting bracket.
4. Drill the holes with a diameter of 5 mm.
5. Push the plugs 5 in the drill holes.
6. Fasten the mounting bracket with the screws 4.
7. Connect the heat detector to the mounting bracket by turning it clockwise.
Use
Testing the heat detector
- Press and hold the alarm button 1 to test the heat detector.
- The heat detector emits a powerful sound pattern and the LED light 2 starts blinking.

- The sound alarm for a low battery or battery failure can be turned off for approximately 8 hours by pressing the alarm button.
Fire prevention drills
- The heat detector emits a powerful 85 dB sound when the air temperature is within the range of heat sensitivity. This now requires your full attention and quick action.
- Develop an escape plan with your family to be prepared for such situations. Involve all family members and conduct regular drills.
- Explain to your family what it means when the alarm goes off.
- Specify two exits. As well as an escape route outside for each room.
- Tell all your family members to first touch a door and use an alternative exit if it is hot; a hot door may not be opened under any circumstances.
- Inform all your family members that they must crawl on the floor to remain below the smoke, steam, and gases.
- Specify a safe meeting point outside the building.
In case of fire
- Do not panic. Remain calm.
- Exit the building as quickly as possible. Feel whether the doors are hot. If necessary, use another escape route. Crawl on the floor, do not take anything with you.
- Go to the meeting point outside the building.
- Contact the Fire Service as soon as you have left the location of the fire.
- Do not return to the burning building. Wait until the fire is extinguished.
- These tips aid you in case of a fire. Follow fire regulations and avoid dangerous situations to reduce the risk of a fire.
Silence mode
- The heat detector emits a powerful 85 dB sound when the air temperature is within the range of heat sensitivity.
- Press the alarm button to switch off the alarm for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes the heat detector will sound again if the air temperature is within the range of heat sensitivity.
Maintenance
- Clean the product regularly with a soft, clean, dry cloth. Avoid abrasives that can damage the surface.
- Do not use aggressive chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, acid or acetone when cleaning the product.
Warranty
Any changes and/or modifications to the product will void the warranty. We accept no liability for damage caused by improper use of the product.
