Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate are the readings?****

According to Acurite (the manufacturer), it is accurate to +/- 2F. The precision depends on the display, which is separate from this sensor. Most (if not all) Acurite displays only show whole numbers for temperature (e.g. 32F vs 32.6F). Further looking shows that the accuracy varies by temperature (this is normal for most measurements, even the most accurate ones).

Can the indoor sensors be plugged in or are they battery only?****

This display and the sensors all run on batteries alone, they do not have an adapter option. If you have any other questions, please contact the AcuRite Loyalty Team at 262-729-4852, we are happy to assist you.

How long do battery’s last****

We recommend using high-quality, standard, alkaline batteries. When using these batteries you can expect to get 1.5-2 years of battery life in most units.

What is the range of the wireless indoor and wireless outdoor sensors from the home unit?****

I believe the manufacturer states 100m or approximately 300ft. My indoor sensor works great and my distance between my two buildings is 75-100 ft. I would guess that the outdoor sensor would have similar results.

On the display, can you specify where each sensor is located?****

Yes you can. Each sensor has a couple buttons under the cover. Each button corresponds to a sensor. Each sensor is displayed as 1,2,3 and an IN temp which is the temp of the room the display is located. I use them in 3 separate grow tents.

Does it have Wi-Fi ?****

No. It is wireless but it doesn’t use your home’s WIFI.

Can I use 2 a/c systems with one sensor each? This is for Commercial purposes where I do not want customers to have access to the Control.****

I own a house next door with two apartments and one shared laundry room. I pay utilities so to keep a handle on the utilities all year, I have one remote in each apt and one in the laundry room.

Will the main unit sound an alarm if the temperature exceeds or falls below what we set it at? Is it enough to wake a person up? Separate thermostats.****

I haven’t set my alarm limits on my unit yet. I’ll try it today. I’m sure the Bluetooth version, would be loud enough for you. You can increase the volume on your phone.

What is the maximum number of remote thermometers it can monitor?****

The Acurite 01094M will monitor 3 remote sensors up to 133′ away from the console, and 1 in the console.

Will the overall unit temp adjust based on remote sensor?****

My unit has three remote sensors, and all of them display on the inside unit. The “inside” temperature is the lower right corner.

How many sensors can the base handle?****

Minimum of zero, maximum of three. The base unit displays three sensor readings all the time – no need to push a button the cycle through the sensors. A button press displays MAX, MIN, and Current temperatures of base and sensors.

What’s the outdoor sensor’s temperature range? I want to put one in the attic, where it can reach 150 degrees.****

The sensor’s temperature range is -4 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit; -20 to 70 degrees Celsius.

My oven bakes at night. can I hang sensor in front of its door so if glass shatters temperature goes above my 90f preset and loud alarm wakes me up?****

My friend there must be a safer way to ensure your oven doesn’t break. I’m not sure this is the best application for this product.

Can you use two display units with the same set of sensors?****

Yes, you can use two displays with the same three sensors. If you have any other questions, please contact the AcuRite Support Team at 262-729-4852, we are happy to assist you.

What is the range of the sensors? “Distance?”****

My Master Unit is in the upstairs master bedroom. Sensor #1 is on upstairs landing, through a wall 30′ away, Sensor#2 is downstairs, (20′) directly under the Master with floor/ceiling between them. Sensor #3 is outdoors on patio, 30′ and one stucco wall away from Master. All receive signal.
