Frequently Asked Questions
Can I juice apple/Pomogranate/carrot with it?****
You can juice anything really except banana. Pomegranate might not juice well with it, but no problem with apples and carrots.
Can I use this for orange juice?****
Yes! Absolutely. I got this for my brother and he juices EVERYTHING! And fruits and vegetables he can get his hands on. Oranges are no exception. It works amazing.
Does it juice greens, broccoli, cauliflower, and other veggies besides carrots and ginger? Please be specific.****
Yes it does juice broccoli. I haven’t tried cauliflower. I have juiced broccoli, kale, cabbage, spinach, cucumber, apple, pear, kiwi, lemon, celery, ginger, carrots… Just make sure you cut them small before juicing.
Can this juicer juice whole limes? Do they need to be peeled?****
I have juiced both limes and lemons in this juicer and it does a decent job. They do need to be cut in quarters to fit into the feed chute. One of the juicing sites recommends peeling citrus with a potato peeler or something similar to remove the outer layer of skin if you don’t like the super-tart taste of the citrus oil. I have done this and it works quite well. The white inner layer of the skin is supposed to contain extra nutrients so it is left on and run through the juicer.
Can I put ginger in it or must I grate the ginger first? Ginger is very tough. And so is rutabega/turnips, etc. Will this juicer handle these roots?****
Definitely! I actually put the ginger through first while the basket is clean. I actually obtain a nice amount of ginger juice from an inch cube or so of fresh ginger root. I also juice beets & turnips. I get ALOT of juice from both. Go easy on the beets. They have a very strong flavor that will overpower the taste of your other veggies.
Can you remove the pulp bin without taking apart the juicer? I like to run the pulp again – don’t want to tear it apart though.****
Yes. The pulp bin doesn’t lock into place but just has two little nubs it rests on. I’ve been able to just lift it out to do this without popping the top of the juicer off.
Can I put crushed ice and yogurt in the juicer?****
No you definitely cannot. Juicers are for extracting juices from fruits and vegetables. Nothing more, nothing less. You can put crushed ice or any ice and yogurt in a blender along with certain fruits, to make a smoothie.
How does it work with citrus?****
I’ve combined vegetables along with lemon and oranges and haven’t had a problem at all. Just make sure you peel your citrus fruits so you don’t get the bitter taste.
How big is this juicer? I’m looking for a juicer that isn’t so bulky…something similar in size to a 4 cup coffee maker or smaller.****
Well the juice container is 10 oz. so it’s small…juicer is a little bit quiet and also you have to cut your veggie or fruits cause the mouth is small.
I don’t have a dishwasher – is this pretty easy to clean by hand?****
Yes it is easy to clean except the the only thing it the shredder basket, I have to use a toothbrush to to get it clean. I wash mine by hand and then every once in a while I put it in the dishwasher.
How does it work for citrus fruits? Do you need to peel them first so it doesn’t try to grate up the rind?****
I personally haven’t tried citrus fruit with the peel on. I usually peel my oranges, just be careful because it’s so juicy that it does tend to leak a little bit if you put to much at a time. I still highly recommend it for its function and price.
Why do I have big pieces of fruit in the pulp container? Am I doing smth wrong?****
Not sure. I cut up fruit and veggies and all that comes out is ground up. I do cut up the pieces small and put very little in and don’t push hard. I think it works quite well for the price.
