Thank you for purchasing a Sealey product. Manufactured to a high standard, this product will, if used according to these instructions, and properly maintained, give you years of trouble-free performance.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. NOTE THE SAFE OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, WARNINGS & CAUTIONS. USE THE PRODUCT CORRECTLY AND WITH CARE FOR THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH IT IS INTENDED. SAFETY

  • Ensure all workshop safety rules, regulations, and conditions are complied with when using welding equipment. The heat shield will not off er protection against misuse of workshop tools, equipment, or accessories.
  • This head shield is designed for eye and face protection during the following operations: manual metal arc welding, TIG welding, pulsed arc welding, and plasma cutting.
  • WARNING! This head shield is not suitable for use with laser welding or oxygen-acetylene welding or cutting.
  • Prior to using the heat shield for the first time ensure that any protective fi lm is removed from the internal and external lenses.
  • Maintain the head shield in good condition.
  • Ensure that the clear lens is kept clean and is securely attached to the head shield.
  • Fit the head shield and adjust the headband so the head shield will sit as low and near to your face as possible.
  • Use head shields only in temperatures ranging from -10°C to 60°C.
  • Remove ill-fitting clothing, and remove ties, watches, rings and other loose jewelry.
  • Maintain correct balance and footing.
  • Ensure the flor is clear from obstructions, not slippery and wear non-slip shoes.
  • Keep children and unauthorized persons away from the working area.
  • Replace the lenses if they become scratched or covered in weld spatter.
  • WARNING! The head shield will only protect the eyes/face from radiation and weld spatter.
  • WARNING! The heat shield will not protect against explosive devices or corrosive liquids.
  • DO NOT use the head shield for any purpose for which it is not designed.
  • DO NOT use the head shield unless you have been instructed in its use by a qualifi ed person
  • . DO NOT get the head shield wet or use in damp or wet locations.
  • DO NOT leave workplace with a head shield in the lowered position.
  • DO NOT place the heat shield on a hot surface.
  • DO NOT use the head shield without the correct shade (fi lter) for the desired application.
  • WARNING! During the welding process hazardous ultraviolet and infrared rays are emitted which can injure the eyes and cause skin burns.
  • It is advisable to wear suitable additional safety clothing to protect the rest of the body during the welding process.
  • After use, clean the head shield and store in a safe, dry, childproof location in it’s original packaging.
  • WARNING! DO NOT use the helmet if damaged or you suspect it may be faulty. (Contact Sealey stockist).
  • WARNING! Welding vapors and gases can be harmful to your health. Keep your head away from any fumes, and work in a well-ventilated area.

INTRODUCTION

Welding head shield with polypropylene shell and adjustable headband. Features a 2” x 4-1/4” front fl ip lens for quick and easy weld inspection. Supplied with a shade 10 lens. Conforms to BS EN 175.

ASSEMBLY

  1. ATTACHING THE HEADBAND
  2. Unscrew and remove the thumb wheel on one side of the headband (fi g 1).
  3. Locate the exposed threaded spindle through the fi xing hole in the head shield body (fi g 2).
  4. Clip the tilt tab onto the locating stud on the head shield (fi g 3).
  5. Reattach the thumbscrew and tighten (fi g 4).
  6. Repeat for the other side.

ADJUSTMENT

  1. ADJUSTING THE HEADBAND CIRCUMFERENCE  Adjust the headband circumference with the thumb wheel (fi g 5) located at the rear of the headband.
    Turn clockwise to tighten and counterclockwise to loosen.

  2. ADJUSTING THE HEADBAND HEIGHT
    Adjust the height by snapping the pins on the top band (fi g 6) of the headband into the desired position.

  3. ADJUSTING THE HEADBAND TILT ANGLE
    Adjust the tilt angle by loosening the thumbscrews (fi g 2) on both sides of the head shield and changing the tilt tab to the desired angle (fi g 3). There are four pre-set positions to select. Re-tighten the thumbscrews.

  1. REPLACING THE SHADE LENS

  2. Flip up the front shade lens holder (fi g 7).

  3.  Locate thumb or forefi nger under the lens retainer clip (fi g 8) and gently pull inwards and outwards remove the lens retainer and place in a secure position.

  4. Remove the shade lens and replace it with a new one.

  5.  Replace the lens retainer by clicking back into place.

  6. REPLACING THE CLEAR LENS

  7.  Locate thumb or forefi nger under the lens retainer clip (fi g 8) and gently pull inwards and outwards remove the lens retainer and place in a secure position.

  8.  Remove the clear lens and replace with a new one.

  9. Replace the lens retainer by clicking back into place.

  10. CLEANING

  11.  Clean with a soft cloth. DO NOT use solvents.

ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION
Recycle unwanted materials instead of disposing of them as waste. All tools, accessories, and packaging should be sorted, taken to a recycling center, and disposed of in a manner hich is compatible with the environment. When the product becomes completely unserviceable and requires disposal, drain any fluids (if applicable) into approved containers nd dispose of the product and fluids according to local regulations.
