ASSEMBLY

Unpack the product and check contents. Should there be any damaged or missing parts contact your supplier immediately. Take care when removing components from packing as these units are heavy. Refer to attached parts list. Seek assistance from another person on assembly of heavy parts. Assemble press, if possible, in close proximity to where the press will be located.

  1. FRAME ASSEMBLY

  2. Place the upright sections (#19) horizontally on a bench.

  3. Attach the base support (#20) to the upright (#19) and the union support (#24) using hex head set screw M10 x 30 (#30) and M10 flat washer (#21), M10 spring washer (#22) and M12 nut (#15) loosely.

  4. Repeat for the other base support (#20).

  5. Attach the support brace (#31) to the base support (#20) and the upright (#19) using hex head set screw M8 x 25 (#29), M8 flat washer (#21), M10 spring washer (#22) and M8 nut (#23) loosely.

  6. Repeat for the other base support (#20).

  7. Attach the upper frame (#10) using hex head set screw M12 x 30 (#12) and M12 flat washer (#13), M12 spring washer (#14) and M12 nut (#15) loosely.

  8. Raise the press frame into an upright position and place onto a flat level floor, and level the frame using a good quality level. Fully tighten all the bolts.
WARNING! Take care and seek assistance from another person when lowering and levelling the frame assembly onto the floor.

  9. ATTACH THE RAM

  10. Attach the ram support plate (upper) (#6) and ram support plate (lower) (#8) to the upper frames (#10) using bolt M10x140 (#5), M8 flat washer (#21), M10 spring washer (#22) and M8 nut (#23) (tighten nuts finger tight at this stage).

  11. Remove adaptor (#11) from the ram assembly (#3).

  12. Pass the ram assembly through the upper support plate and onto the lower support plate.

  13. Screw the adaptor (#11) onto the ram assembly (#3) on the under side of the lower ram support plate and tighten.

  14. Tighten the ram support plate securing bolts (#5).

  15. ATTACH THE PUMP SUPPORT

  16. Attach the pump support (#25) to the right side upright (#19), using hex head set screw M10 x 35 (#30), M10 flat washer (#21), M10
    spring washer (#22) and M10 nut (#23).

  17. ATTACH THE TABLE

  18. Insert the pins (#18) through the holes in the press frame uprights (#19) at the required height.

  19. Taking firm hold of the table (#17) tip it into a diagonal position so it can be introduced between the main frame uprights (#19), and carefully lower it back to a horizontal position to rest on the pins (#18).
WARNING! Take care not to allow the table to drop onto the table pins and ensure your hands and fingers are kept clear.

  20. ATTACH THE PUMP

  21. Attach the pump (#28) to the pump support (#25) using the socket cap bolt M6 x 12 (#27) and M8 flat washer (#26).

  22. Remove the plastic safety bung from the end of the pump hose (#28) and connect the hose to the hydraulic ram assembly (#3) inlet valve.

  23. ATTACH THE PRESSURE GAUGE

  24. Remove the dust cap hex bolt from the gauge connection nut positioned at the top of the ram assembly (#3). DO NOT discard.

  25. Screw the pressure gauge (#1) and nylon ring (#2) in until tight.
    DO NOT over-tighten.

  26. Place the arbor plates (#16) onto the table (#17).

INSTALLATION

  1. SECURE THE PRESS TO THE FLOOR
‰ WARNING! Always use the assistance of another person when moving the press.

  2. Move the press to the mounting location and spot mark through fixing holes in the base supports (#20) into the floor.

  3. Check for any hidden wiring or cables, if needed change the location for the holes.

  4. Temporarily move the press to the side.

  5. Use a masonry drill bit to drill the four holes about 3” to 4” deep into the concrete or wood, as necessary.

  6. Clean out the drilled holes.

  7. Position the press and align the holes in the base supports with the holes in the floor.

  8. Use four concrete anchor bolts or lag bolts for wooden floors, (not included), to secure to the floor.
WARNING! To prevent serious injury DO NOT use damaged equipment. If abnormal noise or vibration occurs have the problem corrected.

  9. BEFORE FIRST USE
Before operating the press, purge the hydraulic system, in order to eliminate any air that may have accumulated during transit. Open the release valve and pump the handle several times and close the release valve. Should the system malfunction at any time, repeating this process may resolve the problem.
DANGER! This model is purposefully designed to withstand greater loads than the hydraulic units can develop. For safety reasons, always ensure the workpiece and press tools are secured on the table and will not flex or suddenly “give way” causing danger to operator or the component. Also ensure you have read and understood chapter 1 safety instructions.

OPERATION

  1. Check that the hydraulic unit is fully closed ready for operating.

  2. Position the table at the required operating height by inserting the pins into the appropriate holes in the frame.

  3. Position the arbor plates or press tools to be used onto the table and align beneath the ram. Place workpiece onto the table or arbor
plates and align beneath the ram as required. Note: Care must be taken to ensure that the arbor plates do not fall from the press table. If necessary hold the configuration in position with clamps (not supplied).

  4. Operate the pump slowly until the ram is close to or just touching the workpiece. Before applying real pressure to the workpiece recheck the alignment with the ram and ensure that the workpiece and press tools are supported in such a way that they cannot flex to breaking point. DO NOT exceed the stroke indicated on the label or the red mark on the piston and DO NOT apply off centre loads.

  5. When work is complete release the pressure by fitting the handle over the release valve and turning anti-clockwise in small increments.

  6. Once the hydraulic unit has been fully retracted, remove the workpiece from the arbor plates and the table.
Note: Always keep the piston retracted after use to avoid corrosion.

MAINTENANCE

  1. Note: Maintenance and repair must only be carried out by qualified person. Contact your Sealey stockist for details.
  2. When the press is not in use, the hydraulic unit ram must be fully retracted to minimise corrosion. Remove the handle to inactivate the press.
  3. Lubricate all moving parts at regular intervals.
  4. Always keep the press clean, dry, and protected from harsh conditions.
  5. Should you need to replace the oil, ensure the hydraulic unit ram is fully retracted. An excess of oil will render the press inoperative. Use only appropriate Sealey hydraulic jack oil (Sealey Part Number: HJO500MLS/HJO5LS). DO NOT use brake fluid. Purge the system to remove any air.
  6. Check your model parts information for spares.
