SAFETY WARNINGS AND GUIDELINES

Please read this entire manual before using this device, paying extra attention to these safety warnings and guidelines. Please keep this manual in a safe place for future reference.

  • Ensure that all items to be connected are powered off and unplugged from their power sources before making any electrical connections, including speaker wire connections.
  • Normal installation involves burying the main body of the subwoofer under the ground. If you will be installing the system in the normal way, you will need to use speaker wire that is rated as safe for burial.

SPEAKER AND SUBWOOFER LOCATION

The speakers should be fairly evenly spaced in a line and aimed to cover the listening area. For best coverage, it is recommended to place the speakers 6 to 8 feet apart.

The subwoofer should be located near the middle of the speaker arrangement. For more bass, install it near a wall or other solid surface. Do not position it in standing water.

Following is a sample arrangement.

WIRING PLAN

Ideally, all speakers and the subwoofer will be connected using two parallel wire runs buried in a single trench. The system is designed to have the speakers evenly spaced around the subwoofer. Use wire that is rated for direct burial.

Use either two 2-conductor speaker wires or a single 4-conductor speaker wire to connect the subwoofer to the amplifier. Be sure to match the positive and negative terminals. Use 2-conductor speaker wires to connect the satellite speakers to the subwoofer. It is best to use wire runs of equal length to ensure equal performance.

Dig a 5″ trench running from the amplifier to the subwoofer and two 5″ trenches from the subwoofer to each satellite. Run burial rated speaker wire in the trenches. Test the system before covering the wire with dirt.

Use the following diagrams as a guide for wiring the subwoofer and satellites for 8-ohm stereo or 4-ohm mono operation.

SUBWOOFER INSTALLATION

Dig a hole for the subwoofer, about 16″ x 17″ and 18″ deep. Use loose dirt to level the subwoofer. The subwoofer should not be in contact with any large rocks or empty holes.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can you add speakers to a 2.1 system?****

You can wirelessly add more speakers like the Sonos One if your 2.1 or 3.1 system includes a soundbar like a Sonos Playbase, Arc, Beam, or Ray.

Are 2.1 speakers better than soundbar?****

A soundbar, regardless of price, cannot compare to the audio experience provided by a 2.1, 5.1, or an Atmos 5.1. 4-channel setup. Larger and more captivating sound is a benefit that is crucial in spaces of a large size.

What is better 2.1 or 5.1 surround sound?****

For home entertainment audio listening, there are options for 2.1, 5.1, and 7.1 channel speaker systems. The best option for enhancing your TV sound without many speakers is 2.1, which is also the ideal option if you merely want to listen to music. The most popular choice for a home theatre audio experience is 5.1.

How many speakers will you get if you have a 2.1 speaker system?****

2.1 stereo audio uses two speakers for the stereo left and right audio channels, similar to a 2.0 stereo arrangement. The distinction is that the system is connected to a subwoofer speaker as well. Any speaker combination marked with a “. 1” denotes the presence of a subwoofer.

What’s the difference between 2.0 and 2.1 speakers?****

Two channels (left and right) make up a 2.0 soundbar, and three channels (two in the soundbar and one external subwoofer) make up a 2.1 soundbar.

Are 2.1 speakers good for TV?****

The purpose of 2.1 speakers is to deliver an all-around performance; whether you’re watching TV or listening to music, these speakers are made to perform just as effectively in each situation.

How good is 2.1 surround sound?****

These two or more speakers will provide you with crystal-clear left and right audio channels with a 2.1 soundbar. Although it’s a solid foundation for your sound system, that component is very common and won’t significantly enhance the listening experience. There won’t be much more than clear left and right channels.

How do I setup a 2.1 speaker?****

Two front speakers that provide stereo sound and a subwoofer that amplifies the bass make up a 2.1 surround sound system. The subwoofer should be placed on the floor on either side of the screen, and the front left and right speakers should be positioned at a 22 to 30-degree angle.

Can you run 2 sets of speakers off 1 channel?****

The only actual options for connecting two speakers to a single amplifier are parallel and series connections. You can typically connect speakers in parallel if they have an impedance of 8 ohms or higher. Wire your speakers in series if their combined impedance is less than 8 ohms.

How many watts do I need per speaker?****

A lot depends on how well you listen and how well you speak. If your speakers are 90 dB efficient and you enjoy listening to loud, uncompressed music, 200 Watts should be more than plenty for you. 50 Watts is plenty if all you listen to is jazz and light classical music and you don’t expect them to rock the house.

Should I get 2 or 3-way speakers?****

A 2-way speaker is preferable if you have a limited budget, while a 3-way speaker is a wonderful option if you enjoy music and care about sound quality. The professionals at El Cajon’s Audio Shack will assist you if you’re still not sure whether you want a 2-way or 3-way speaker system.

How much power does 2.1 speaker consume?****

The most power you can apply to it without harming it is 1000W. There will be less current if the amplifier applies less pressure to it than that, though. A speaker does not ask for authority. It simply accepts anything the amplifier throws at it.

How many channels do I need for 4 speakers and a sub?****

A four-channel amp may supply four speakers, two speakers, and a subwoofer by bridging two of the channels together to power the sub. It can also power four speakers, two speakers, and two rear full-range speakers.
