Installation Guide

The first installation is expected to take half an hour to complete all installation steps.

  1. Remove the original headrest
    • a. Find two flat bladed screwdrivers and vigorously remove the sponge from the headrest seat until the black plastic pillar is exposed. Find the metal clip on the left side of the black plastic column and insert a flat screwdriver 1.
    • b.Find the metal buckle of the black plastic column on the other side and insert a flat screwdriver 2.
    • c.Gently move two screwdrivers to the left at the same time, and at this point, the original headrest can be pulled out of the buckle. (The screwdriver can continue to be inserted into the buckle)
    • d.Tilt the seat to a certain position until the headrest is completely removed, and the plastic rear cover of the seat will also open easily.TESLA-Headrest-Dual-Screen-Interactive-Sharing-Rear-Entertainment-System-FIG-1TESLA-Headrest-Dual-Screen-Interactive-Sharing-Rear-Entertainment-System-FIG-2
  2. Remove the plastic cover from the back of the seat and install a new RSE headrest
  3. a. Gently pull down the plastic cover to remove it. Thread the new headrest wire into the seat along the headrest seat hole and then through the two holes of the plastic cover.
  4. b.Thread out along the bottom of the seat. Install the lines of the left and right headrests separately using this method. (At this time, the headrest does not need to be fully inserted into the bottom of the hole. After completing the same screen test, it can be finally inserted into place.)
  5. c. Find the accessory package and locate the metal communication box and power cord.
  6. d. According to the schematic diagram, connect the connecting wires of the left and right headrests to the metal communication box in the correct way (and secure the connector with a tie), and insert the power supply for power-on testing. After testing the same screen function, perform the reset installation.TESLA-Headrest-Dual-Screen-Interactive-Sharing-Rear-Entertainment-System-FIG-3

Product Connection Diagram(picture 1)
We have reserved a set of wired output terminals for users who have installed power amplifiers, which can achieve more outstanding audio effects through the power amplifier DSP processor.
Note this is the most important part of the installation:

  1. Insert the connector into the metal box with one side of the gold finger pointing downwards (the paper surface is upwards). After the connection is completed, fix it with a tie or tape, inside the accessory package (to prevent the connector joint from shaking and falling off during driving).

  2. All wires of headrest A are connected to the connector on one side of group A, while all wires of headrest B are connected to the connector on group B. (picture 2)
Do not mix the cable connection, otherwise it will affect the product function.

  3. Do not vigorously damage the pins inside the connector. (If you find that the pin has been inserted improperly, you can contact the after-sales service to replace a new one or find a suitable small tool to straighten the pin and try to insert it for testing)

  4. If the sync screen is abnormal during the testing, please reconnect the A2/B2 connector. It may not be firmly inserted, and the white connector should be fully inserted into the socket. After the function is tested, fix it with a tie again.

Turn on the tablet and test the Screen Share Function.

  • a.After the tablet is turned on, it will enter the car launcher and the red indicator LED will be turn on.
  • If the red indicator light does not light up, please unplug the tablet and insert it into the dock again, ensuring that it is fully inserted into the two metal connectors at the bottom.
  • If it still doesn’t light up, it indicates that the power cord is not connected properly. Please connect the power cord end connector A1/B1 properly.
  • Until both tablets display the same screen.
  • b.Click on the Screen Share icon on the tablet, and the screen of another tablet will be transmitted. Slide up from the bottom of the tablet screen, pop up the navigation menu, and click the return button to exit the same screen.
  • Perform the same operation on another tablet.
  • Make sure the Screen Share Function no problem and then proceed the other steps.

Screen Share Test Operation Guide:

  1. Enter Screen Share (picture 3)
There is a screen share icon on the Home screen. Click the screen share icon on the panel B, and the panel B will receive the screen image from the panel A. Tablet B can only serve as a monitor to view all operations on tablet A.

  2. Exit Screen Share (picture 4)
Slide from the bottom of the screen of Tablet B will activate the hidden navigation menu. Clicking the Back or Home button will exit the screen share function and return to the Home screen of Tablet B.

Note:
The same way to test on another headrest table to check the cable connections are all good.

Problem Shooting:

  1. Power Issue
There is an indicator light on the car charger, and after inserting it, the red indicator light will light up, indicating that the car charger is no problem.
After the tablet is turned on and correctly inserted into the dock, the red indicator light will light up. If it is not fully inserted into the base, the red indicator light will not light up.
When the tablet cannot be powered on, but there is a charging icon displayed when inserted into the base, it indicates that the power switch of the tablet accidentally touched during transportation, causing the battery run out. At this time, it is necessary to wait for the battery to charge for a while before conducting the dock function test mentioned above after the tablet can be powered on. (Wait for 3-5 minutes)

  2. Sync Display issue
After the connector on the metal box is correctly inserted into the connector, it needs to be secured with a tie to prevent the connector from loosening, so that the images on both ends of the machine can be on the same screen as each other. If the connector on the metal box is loose or inserted incorrectly, it will cause the pins inside the connector to be bent and the screen will turn black. The connector has a foolproof design. Once it is found that it cannot be inserted into the connector, please do not forcefully insert it. You can easily insert it by changing the direction.
Before the machine leaves the factory, the products inside the packaging have undergone three full inspections, and then the packaging has been disassembled and retained with product images and complete video of functional testing. The above functional issues will not occur. Please pay attention to the installation method.
After these issues are resolved, the fault still exists. Please stop the installation and contact the dealer in a timely manner to replace the product for installation.

Fixed tie/Wiring Management
Route the wire along the bottom of the seat to avoid bare leakage, leaving room for the seat to move forward and backward.
Secure the wire inside the seat with a tie or tape.
Wrap the connectors on the metal box with ties or waterproof tape to prevent them from loosening from inside the connectors in the future.(picture 5)
You can place the metal box inside the seat cover, inside the card cover under the air conditioning outlet, or under the carpet.

Restore Installation
Align the seat cover to the correct position, and then gently pull down the wire to ensure that there is not too much wire between the headrest metal rod and the plastic cover hole that affects the headrest metal rod to be inserted into the plastic cover hole. Until a click was heard to prove that the metal buckle had fully engaged in the slot of the headrest metal rod. (picture 6)
(If the iron rod of the headrest cannot be easily inserted into the seat socket, please continue to use a flat screwdriver to move it to the left as before installation to facilitate the headrest insertion into the hole. If the cover is not secure, please use your knees to press forward and then press the headrest down)
