Installation Options
XINFO Control-M Scanner can be installed in two different versions:
- XINFO Unload scripts and Scanner on Windows server where XINFO server is located
- XINFO Unload scripts on Control-M server where Enterprise Manager and/or server are located and XINFO Scanner on Windows server where XINFO server is located
Advantages and Disadvantages
Each installation version has its own advantages and disadvantages. For
example, executing XINFO Forecast using the ctmrpln utility program is only
possible on the server for the Control-M/Server component. However,
centralizing the unloading and scanning of Control-M systems on the Windows
server reduces the need to have Unload scripts on all Control-M systems.
Usage Steps
- Choose the appropriate installation version based on your requirements.
- Follow the installation instructions provided in the user manual.
- Execute XINFO Forecast using the ctmrpln utility program if needed.
- Unload and scan Control-M systems centrally on the Windows server.

XINFO Windows Server Architecture
with z/OS Scanner and Control-M Scanner
Introduction
XINFO for Windows server installation together with Scanner(s) z/OS and Control-M as Workload Automation Software, XINFO Control-M Scanner can be installed in two different versions:
- XINFO Unload scripts and Scanner on Windows server where XINFO server is located
- XINFO Unload scripts on Control-M server where Enterprise Manager and/or server are located and XINFO Scanner on Windows server where XINFO server is located
Important
Both versions have their advantages and disadvantages, e.g. only on the server
for the Control-M/Server component can the XINFO Forecast, based on the
ctmrpln utility program, be executed on the system itself.
On the other hand, you can unload and scan every Control-M system centrally on
the Windows server which reduces the need to have the Unload scripts on all
Control-M systems.
