  • How do I connect a 4-ch extension module?
    • Connect the extension module using the delivered BUS cable to the BUS input on the extension controller. Ensure the jumper is positioned correctly in both units and follow the steps provided in the manual.
  • How can I configure outputs within the controller?
    • You can connect more outputs within the same controller by adding a 4-ch extension. Configure outputs in the menu Output configuration. Each output is dedicated to a specific zone.
  • How do I pair thermostats/sensors to a zone?
    • Refer to the specific manuals delivered with the thermostats and sensors for instructions on pairing/registering to a zone on the extension controller.

INSTALLATION AND USING INSTRUCTION

Roth Touchline® SL Controller 8 ch, extension 230V

WARNING: Risk of fatal electric shock from touching live connections. Before working on the controller always switch off the 230V power supply and prevent it from being accidentally switched on.

If required up to 4 actuator can be connected to the same output (32 actuators in total on the controller) Meaning: An output with 2, 3 or 4 terminals can all be connected with up to 4 actuators. Use Roth Touchline® actuator 230V 1 watt, HVAC no. 7466275433.  More outputs can be configured to one zone/room using the function “Output configuration” which is described later in the manual.

  • A: 230V pump output, max. load 0,5A. Cables must be secured wiht the strain relief. The pump output on the control unit extension can either control a pump connected locally or the signals (heat call from thermostats) can be set up to be transferred to the control unit master. See page 14 of this guide.
  • B: Boiler/heat supply, potential free relay max. load 1A.

Connect to 230V power, Controller is ready for the pairing of sensors. Follow the description later in this manual or please see the manual delivered with the thermostat/sensor.

Glass fuse WT 6.3A (5 x 20 mm). Turn off 230V power before changing.

One Roth Touchline® SL 8 ch Controller, the master can be connected wirelessly to up to 3 pc. Roth Touchline® SL 8 ch Controller, extension. In addition, each controller can be connected to a 1 pc. 4 channel extension with BUS cable, i.e. up to 48 channels in a system. If there are very large distances between the controllers, you can choose to connect the units using a BUS cable instead. For this setup, we refer to the user manual which is online on our website.

Press the MENU button on the Roth Touchline® SL Controller extension, and follow the screens 8 – 14.

Now press the MENU button on the Roth Touchline® SL Controller master, and follow the screens 15 – 20. When the devices have registered the connection, “Registration was successfull” are shown on respectively master and extension. Finish by pressing “Menu”.

After registering the 8 ch Controller, extension to the Roth Touchline® SL Controller, master this will be shown on the display. After connecting sensors/thermostats it will be possible to see all channels on both the Master and 8 ch Extension on the Master display. All channels can be operated from the Roth Touchline® SL Controller, master or via the Roth Touchline® SL app if the Master Controller is connected to the internet via a Roth Touchline® SL WiFi module.

Connection of a 4 ch extension to 8 ch extension controller

Connect the 4-ch extension module with the delivered BUS cable to the BUS input on the extension controller. Check that the “jumper” is positioned correctly in both units. Press the MENU button on the extension controller and follow steps 24 – 29. Connecting a 4-ch extension can be done both from the extension controller and the master controller. It is possible to connect more output (or all) within the same 8-ch controller + a 4-ch extension (total 12 outputs) to one zone/thermostat. This is done in the menu “Output configuration”. By default, output 1 is dedicated to zone 13, output 2 to zone 14 etc.

Press the MENU button on the extension controller and follow the steps 30 – 35. In this example, output 2 is moved from zone 14 to zone 13. Zone 13 will now control both output 1 and output 2. The information “Pump on/off will be deactivated in this zone” means that heat call on zone 14 no longer will activate the pump.

You can get an overview of the output configuration if you press EXIT from the main screen and choose “Output configuration”. Her you can see that output (OUT) 1 and 2 are connected to zone 13 (Z13). Zone 14 can still be used for controlling one or more wireless Roth radiator actuators. Pairing registering of thermostat/sensor to a zone on extension controller. See the specific manuals delivered with thermostats and sensors.

Above you can see the placement of pairing/registration buttons on different thermostats/sensors. Attention! Do not touch the front of thermostats with touch buttons while pressing the pairing button, it can lead to bad or failing functionality of the touch buttons.

Follow the steps 39 – 47 for pairing/registering the thermostat/sensor to a zone/channel. Finish by pushing the MENU button and push EXIT several times until the start screen is shown. If the thermostat has a floor sensor connected, this must also be paired/registered as shown below in step 48 – 56.

  • If the control unit – extension doesn’t have its pump connected you don’t need to do anything, the heat demand signal will automatically be transferred to the control unit – master.
  • If you want a pump to be connected and controlled by the control unit – extension, the setting for Global pump control must be changed on control unit- extension.
  • Follow steps 57 – 60 on the screens to change the settings on the control unit. In step 60 the “tick” must be removed in “Global control” by pressing MENU.
