Product Usage Instructions

  • Step 1: SIM Card Attachment
    Prepare a Nano-SIM card.

  • Step 2: Installing the Device
    Place the Nano-SIM card on the SIM card tray and insert it into the SIM card slot.

Tips : After inserting the SIM card, the device will power on using the backup battery. If the device fails to power on due to low battery, you can connect the device to the OBDII connector of the vehicle to obtain power. Make sure to insert the SIM card correctly. If the SIM card is identified and requires a PIN, please disable the PIN request.

Configuring APN and Server Parameters
To ensure the device gets online and operates correctly, you are advised to check the APN and server settings. You can set the APN and the server via SMS commands if necessary.

APN settings:

  1. It is recommended to contact your network operator to confirm the APN information.
  2. Use your phone to send the following SMS command to the VL502: APN, apnname#
  3. For example: APN, internet#

If your local APN contains a username and password, you can use the following command to set the APN:

  1. Send the following SMS command to the VL502: APN, name, user, password#
  2. For example APN, internet, CLENTE, AMENA#

Movement and Ignition Detection

Vehicle movement will be detected by the accelerometer. Ignition will be detected by the vehicle power voltage between 9-36V.

The device will send an alert notification to the server if one of these events happen:

  • Vehicle keeps moving at speeds above the threshold for a preset duration.
  • Driver steps on the brake or gas pedal hard, corners rapidly.
  • The device is plugged or unplugged from the OBDII  connector.

Installation

SIM Card Attachment

  1. Step 1: Prepare a Nano-SIM.

  2. Step 2 :Attach the SIM.

    • Place the Nano-SIM card on the SIM card tray and insert it into the SIM card slot. Tips:

    • After the SIM is in inserted, the device powers on using the backup battery. If the device fails to power due to low battery, you can connect the device to the OBDIl connector of the vehicle to obtain power.

    • The SIM card must be inserted correctly, If the SIM is identified and requires a PIN, please disable the PIN request.

Installing the Device

  • Connecting the device to the vehicle:

To ensure the device gets online and operates correctly, you are advised to check the APN and server settings. You can set the APN and the server via SMS commands if necessarily.

  • Server settings
    It is recommended to contact your platform service provide to confirm the domain name and IP address of their serve. Then you can use your phone to deliver the following command to the VL502: SERVER, mode, domain name/IP, port, protocol#
    For example:

    SERVER,0,211.154.135.113,8011,0#
    “Mode=1” means to set the server parameters via the domain name; “Mode=0” means to set the server parameters via the IP address.
    “Protocol=0” means to connect to the server using TCP protocol.

Default configuration settings

Warranty·Terms

  1. For damages not caused by human factors, this warranty lasts for one year starting from the date of purchase.
  2. You can choose to pay for the repair services in any of the following cases:

  4. No warranty card or valid proof of purchase;
  5. The product, including its accessories, is not in the warranty period;
  6. Quality issues resulted from unauthorized repair, crash, liquid spillage, accident, modification, or incorrect voltage input; or the label, IMEI, or counterfeit mark of the device is broken or scribbled;
  7. Damage caused by installing or using the device without following the instructions in this User Manual;
  8. The warranty does not cover damages resulted from soaking in liquid;
  9. The product model is inconsistent with that on the warranty card or the warranty card was altered;
  10. Damage caused by force majeure such as fire, flood, or lightning.

Note

  • For vehicle trackers
    • As of January 1, 2016, the warranty lasts for 1 (one) year from the date of purchase.
  • The specific terms are
    1. A full replacement, including accessories, if the product is found defective during the unpacking check (that is, the device has neither been installed nor used);
    2. If a defect occurs within one year after installation, then:
    3. ©Replace only the mainboard if the housing is intact and doesn’t affect normal use; or
    4. @Replace the housing and the mainboard if the housing is defective and affects normal use (Please be noted that man-made damages will void the replacement service for the housing).
    5. Free repair services will be given to the product if a defect is found during the first year under proper use.
