Start-Up Process

Start-Up Process: Take these steps during initial filling or refilling after draining.

  1. Fill hot tub with water: First, remove filter and filter basket. Then, add water directly to your hot tub through the filter compartment. Fill to above all jets and just below pillows/headrests.

  2. After filling, replace filter components and follow the manufacturer’s instructions provided in your owner’s manual to turn on your hot tub and begin heating. We recommend at least 80°F.

  3. Add 1 oz. SpaGuard® Stain & Scale Control* per 300 gallons of water. (1 oz. = 4 capfuls)

  4. Add 2 oz. of SpaGuard® Chlorinating Concentrate* per 500 gallons of water. Then, turn your jets on to their highest speed for 10-15 minutes or initiate “clean cycle” if applicable.

  5. A. For in-line system, set mineral cartridge to setting #6, and set SmartChlor setting using chart A.

    • B. For @Ease Floater, follow assembly instructions and set setting using chart B.
  6. Use a test strip to test Total Alkalinity, Calcium Hardness, and pH levels. Adjust as needed. Total Alkalinity: 80-150 PPM | Calcium Hardness: 100-200 PPM | pH level: 7.2-7.8 Pro Tip! Alkalinity levels near 120 PPM will help stabilize pH levels.

Pro Tip

Pro Tip! Maintenance frequency may vary based on bather load and usage.
FROG @Ease 101: The FROG @Ease SmartChlor system is largely self- regulating and never produces more chlorine than necessary. Whether you are using the Floater or In-line cartridges, you can expect to replace the SmartChlor (silver) portion of the @Ease system every 2 to 5 weeks and the mineral
(blue) portion every 3 to 4 months. It is optional to add SpaGuard® Shock- Oxidizer* after every use, but is only necessary every month. Do not add regular shock while using the SmartChlor system.

Every Week: Take these steps every week.

  1. Test Total Alkalinity and adjust if needed. Recommended range: 80-150 PPM.
  2. Test pH level and adjust if needed. Recommended range: 7.2-7.8
  3. Test Chlorine level. Recommended range: .5-1.0 PPM.
  4. Check @Ease SmartChlor levels to make sure it is not empty. Cartridge life lasts
  5. 5 weeks depending on hot tub size and usage load.
  6. Add SpaGuard® Stain & Scale Control* following label instructions.

We recommend:

  • @Ease Test Strips

Pro Tip! Low Total Alkalinity levels may cause fluctuating pH levels.

Every Month: Take these steps every month.

  1. Remove filter from hot tub and spray filter thoroughly with a garden hose to remove all visible debris and contaminants.
  2. Spray filter with SpaGuard® Filter Cleaner* following label instructions.
  3. Rinse filter with garden hose and return filter to filter compartment.
  4. Return filter to hot tub filter compartment.
  5. Add 2 oz. of SpaGuard® Shock-Oxidizer.*
  6. Optional, add 1 bottle EcoOne Spa Monthly Conditioner to reduce skin irritation.

We recommend:

  • SpaGuard® Filter Cleaner*

Pro Tip! Dirty filters often prevent spas from heating correctly and can cause error codes.

Every 3 to 4 Months: Take these steps based on your hot tub usage.

  1. Drain, clean, and polish your hot tub’s interior and exterior. You can use a sump pump to expedite the draining process.
  2. While your spa is draining, clean your filter.
  3. Refill your spa and follow the Start-Up process outlined on the reverse page, including replacing @Ease SmartChlor and Mineral cartridges.

We recommend:

  • 303 Aerospace Protectant*
  • SpaGuard® System Flush*
  • SpaGuard® Anti-Foam*
