OVERVIEW

BEFORE FIRST USE

  1. Open the tank cover and remove the plug at the bottom of the water tank.
  2. Pour water into the water tank. The water level should not exceed the ‘MAX’ mark. Then, close the tank cover.
  3. Place the filter in the portafilter. Do not put coffee in the filter.
  4. Place a container (not provided) on the drip plate. Ensure the knob is in the ‘off’ position (horizontal).
  5. Connect the power cord to an electrical outlet and press the power button. The power indicator will illuminate, and the single cup, double cup and steam indicators will flash.
  6. The coffee machine will start pre-heating. When the single cup, double cup and steam indicators turn solid, the coffee machine has preheated.
  7. Press the double cup button. Water will dispense from the portafilter.
  8. When the coffee machine stops dispensing water, pour the water in the container out and clean the container thoroughly. The coffee machine will be ready for brewing.

Note:
There may be noise when pumping water for the first time. It is normal and caused by the machine releasing air. After about 20 seconds, the noise will stop.

Preheating
It is recommended to preheat the machine before making coffee.

  1. Remove the water tank. Open the tank cover and fill the tank with water. The water level should not exceed the ‘MAX’ mark in the water tank. Then, replace the water tank.
  2. Place the filter into the portafilter and align the portafilter with the grooves on the coffee machine. Insert the portafilter into the machine and turn it anti-clockwise to lock it in place.
  3. Place a container (not provided) on the drip plate. Ensure the knob is in the ‘off’ position (horizontal).
  4. Connect the power cord to an electrical outlet and press the power button. The power indicator will illuminate, and the single cup, double cup and steam indicators will flash.
  5. The coffee machine will start preheating. When the single cup, double cup and steam indicators turn solid, the coffee machine has preheated.

OPERATION

WARNING: Do not leave the coffee machine unattended while making coffee, as you may need operate it manually.

Make Espresso Coffee

  1. Remove the portafilter by turning it clockwise. Use the provided measuring spoon to add ground coffee to the filter. One spoonful of ground coffee will make one cup of coffee. Press the ground coffee down using the measuring spoon.
  2. Place the filter into the portafilter and align the portafilter with the grooves on the coffee machine. Insert the portafilter into the machine and turn it anti-clockwise to lock it in place.
  3. Place a cup on the drip plate.
  4. Press the single cup or double cup button. The portafilter will dispense coffee into the cup.
  5. When coffee has finished dispensing, turn the portafilter anti-clockwise to remove it, and pour the coffee residue out.

Make Frothed Milk or Cappuccino
Make a cappuccino by adding frothed milk to a cup of espresso.

Note:

  • The portafilter must be locked into the coffee machine when making steam.
  • Before frothing milk, release steam for 10 seconds
  1. Prepare espresso as instructed in the Make Espresso Coffee section. Ensure you are using a cup big enough to fit the frothed milk.

  2. Press the steam button. The steam indicator will flash while the machine preheats.
    When the steam indicator turns solid, the machine has preheated.

  3. Fill a pitcher with about 100ml of milk for each cappuccino to be prepared.
    Note:
    It is recommended that the pitcher diameter is not less than 70±5mm. The milk doubles in volume, so ensure the pitcher is high enough.
    WARNING: Handle the steam tube with care as it will be hot during and after making steam.

  4. Tilt the pitcher and position the steam tube so the end extends 2cm under the surface of the milk. Turn the knob to . Steam will come out from the steam outlet and froth the milk.

  5. When the milk has foamed, turn the knob back to the ‘off’ position.
    Note:
    Clean the steam outlet with a wet sponge immediately after frothing the milk. Handle with care as the steam tube will be hot.

  6. Pour the frothed milk into the espresso to make a cappuccino.

Notes:

  • Immediately after making steam, press the single cup or double cup button to brew coffee again.
  • The single and double cup indicators will be flashing if the temperature is too high. To reduce the temperature, turn the knob to to dispense hot water. The pump will stop automatically when the machine has cooled down. Turn the knob to ‘off’ to brew coffee again.
  • If you do not want to brew coffee when the high temperature warning occurs, press the single cup or double button again to cancel.

Set The Dispensing Amount
Single cup:

  1. Press and hold the single cup button for 3 seconds.
  2. Press the single cup button again. Coffee will dispense and the single cup indicator will flash.
  3. When the desired amount of coffee is reached, press the single cup button again to stop dispensing coffee. The amount of coffee dispensed will be saved and used for the next operation.

Note:
The adjustable dispensing amount of a single cup ranges from 10-60 seconds.

Double cup:

  1. Press and hold the double cup button for 3 seconds.
  2. Press the double cup button again. Coffee will dispense and the double cup indicator will flash.
  3. When the desired amount of coffee is reached, press the double cup button again to stop dispensing coffee. The amount of coffee dispensed will be saved and used for the next operation.

Note:
The adjustable dispensing amount of a double cup ranges from 10-60 seconds.

Restore factory settings:
Press and hold the single cup and double cup buttons at the same time for 3 seconds to return to the default dispensing amounts.

Automatically Power Off Function

  • If there is no user input after 29 minutes, the coffee machine will power off automatically.
  • If there is no user input after pumping approximately 215ml of water, or after 180 seconds, the pump will stop automatically.

CLEANING & CARE

  • Unplug the coffee machine and allow it to cool down completely before cleaning.
  • Clean the coffee machine body with moisture-proof sponge. Clean the water tank, drip tray and drip plate regularly and dry them.
  • Turn the portafilter clockwise to detach it from the coffee machine and remove any residual coffee in the filter. Clean the filter and portafilter with water and household detergent and rinse with clean water before use.
  • Clean all attachments in water and dry thoroughly.

Note:
Do not clean the exterior of the coffee machine with alcohol or any solvent cleaning products. Never immerse the coffee machine body in water for cleaning.

Cleaning Mineral Deposits
For best results and to ensure the coffee machine is operating efficiently, the internal piping often needs to be descaled and cleaned. When the coffee machine requires descaling (after 500 cycles), all indicators will flash 5 times every time the coffee machine is powered on.

Follow the steps below to descale the coffee machine:

  1. Fill the tank with water and descaling solution to the ‘MAX’ level. The ratio of water and descaling solution is 4:1. It is recommended to use homemade descaling solution like citric acid (obtainable from chemists). Add 3ml of citric acid to 100ml of water.
  2. Place the filter into the portafilter and align the portafilter with the grooves on the coffee machine. Insert the portafilter into the machine and turn it anti-clockwise to lock it in place.
  3. Place a container (not provided) on the drip plate. Ensure the knob is in the ‘off’ position (horizontal).
  4. Press the double cup button. After 100ml of water dispenses into the container, turn off the coffee machine and leave the descaling solution inside for 5 minutes.
  5. Turn on the coffee machine and repeat step 4 at least 3 times.
  6. Empty and clean the water tank and refill it to the ‘MAX’ level with clean water.
  7. Press the double cup button. After 100ml of water dispenses into the container, turn off the coffee machine.
  8. Before next use, you will need to cancel the descaling reminder. To do so, press and hold the single cup, double cup and steam buttons at the same time for 3 seconds.
