Remove the three screws holding the glove box hinge to the frame and place the glove box out of the way. Disconnect the wire blend door actuator harness and remove the blend door.
Use the pattern in Fig. 3 to cut into the bottom of the heater box with your Rotary cutting tool or hot knife. The cut is made from under the dash panel on the passenger side. There is not much room to work, so it is helpful to have a short bodied cutting tool or aflexible extension attachment. Note that there is nothing behind the cut area that can be damaged. The only critical point is to make sure you do not cut into the round pedestal circled in Fig. 4.

-
Remove the old plastic blend door.
-
Slide the new blend door into the bottom opening with the motor connector on top. Make sure the bottom of the blend door is
completely inserted in the pedestal. -
Insert the top axle insert through the top of the blend door. This will be inserted through the hole where the blend door actuator
output shaft goes. -
Check that the door moves freely and is not binding in the box.
-
Replace the actuator motor and re-connect the harness.
-
Reconnect the battery and turn on the HVAC system. You can observe the movement of the blend door when you adjust the temperature knob. The extent of movement may not be completely correct on the first trial. The computer needs to recalibrate to learn the position of the new hardware and may take a few cycles.
-
When you have confirmed that the door is operating properly, the last step is to replace the cut-out piece that you removed. Use the provided the metal tape to secure the cut-out in place.
Replace the glove box…DONE!!!
