REMOVAL/INSTALL OF IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER (924-786).
Toyota 4Runner 2002–1996, Toyota Tacoma 2004–1996.
PLEASE WEAR SAFETY GLASSES!
Removal Instructions
STEP 1: Disconnect battery.
STEP 2: Remove trim panel surrounding ignition lock by removing retaining screws or retainers. trim panels vary among models. Use caution upon removal process to prevent damage to trim panel.
STEP 3: Remove ignition lock trim bezel by gently prying off with plastic trim tool or equivalent.
STEP 4: Remove key illumination ring if equipped.
STEP 5: Insert ignition key into lock cylinder and rotate to ACC
(accessory) position.
STEP 6: Using a small screwdriver or similar tool, push in retaining pin
on underside of lock housing while pulling out lock.
STEP 7: Remove lock cylinder from steering column by pulling cylinder outwards while keeping pin pushed in.
Installation Instructions
STEP 1: Insert key into replacement ignition lock cylinder.
STEP 2: Rotate key to ACC (accessory) position.
STEP 3: Insert the ignition lock cylinder into the ignition lock cylinder
case until retaining pin engages in hole.
STEP 4: Remove key from ignition lock cylinder.
STEP 5: Reinstall key illumination ring and screw if equipped.
STEP 6: Reinstall lock trim bezel by gently snapping back into place.
STEP 7: Reinstall lower dash trim panel under steering column and tighten
screws.
STEP 8: Reconnect battery.
