INSTALL/REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS: EVAP CANISTER VENT VALVE
911-239 Vapor Canister Vent Solenoid
ATTENTION: Refer to the appropriate shop manual for your vehicle to
obtain specifi c service procedures for this part. If you do not have a
service manual or lack the skill to install this part, it is recommended that
you seek the services of a qualified technician. Pay special attention to all
cautions and warnings included in the shop manual. Read and follow all
instructions carefully.
REMOVAL/INSTALL OF EVAP CANISTER VENT VALVE
2008–1999 Chevrolet Silverado, 2008–1999 GMC Sierra
NOTE:
This kit is intended to relocate the vent valve. The bracket included is
different from the original and results in a new mounting location for the
vent valve, which will also be a different style from what may have originally
been included with the vehicle. The secondary air fi lter and hosing is also
not originally included with the vehicle.

Removal Instructions
STEP 1: Safely raise the vehicle off the ground and suitably support the vehicle. NOTE: CONSULT THE VEHICLE’S OWNER’S MANUAL OR SHOP MANUAL TO DETERMINE THE PROPER WAY OF RAISING AND LOWERING YOUR VEHICLE.
STEP 2: Disengage the two vent valve pipe clips securing the pipe to the
underbody. Remove the clips from the underbody and discard.
STEP 3: Disconnect the vent valve pipe at the EVAP canister.
STEP 4: Remove and retain the EVAP canister vent valve bracket
mounting bolt.
STEP 5: Disconnect the EVAP canister vent valve electrical connector, if equipped.
STEP 6: Remove the complete EVAP canister vent valve assembly with bracket attached and discard.
Installation Instructions
STEP 1: Position and secure the new valve pipe to the frame bracket on the
outside of the frame using the existing hole and mounting bolt. Its clips will
attach in the original locations and the connecter will reattach to the
charcoal canister vent port. It will then
route beside and over the top of the gas tank. Tighten the bracket mounting
bolt to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
STEP 2: Connect the vent valve pipe to the EVAP canister.
STEP 3: Install the two vent valve pipe clips into the existing underbody
holes.
STEP 4: Connect the EVAP canister vent valve electrical connector, if
equipped. NOTE: The included pigtail adapter may have to be used, depending on
the style of connector that came with the truck originally.
STEP 5: Attach bulk 5/8” hose to the vent valve port and secure using a clamp. Run a length as needed along the frame rail routing to the secondary air fi lter.
STEP 6: Connect the secondary fi lter canister to the hose and cabletie to the top of the frame rail near the back of the truck’s cab.
STEP 7: Cut the hose to determined length and install the supplied fi lter
box. Secure using a clamp.
STEP 8: Safely lower the vehicle. NOTE: CONSULT THE VEHICLE’S OWNER’S MANUAL
OR SHOP MANUAL TO DETERMINE THE PROPER WAY OF RAISING AND LOWERING YOUR
VEHICLE.
