DORMAN 265-887 Transmission Oil Pan

Specifications :

  • Product: 265-887 Transmission Oil Pan Adjustment tool

Product Usage Instructions:

Installing Threaded Fill Plug and Closed Plug:

  1. Install the supplied threaded fill plug on the new transmission oil pan and torque to 4 ft-lb (6 Nm).
  2. Install the transmission pan.
  3. Fill the bread through the threaded fill plug. Use a transfer pump following OE instructions.
  4. Adjust the position of the overflow tube using the adjustment tool.
  5. After filling, remove the threaded fill plug and replace it with the supplied closed plug. The standpipe design will prevent fluid loss.

Installing Overflow Tube and Guide Tube:

  1. Ensure that the arrows on the bottom of the overflow tube are aligned before installing it on the new transmission oil pan.
  2. Install the overflow tube and guide tube by snapping them into place, and aligning the arrows on the overflow tube as needed.

Replacement Filters:

When replacing filters on the 265-887, use Dorman part number 265-887F. This part contains filters, a gasket, an overflow tube, a guide tube, a threaded fill plug, and an adjustment tool. The OE pan filters are not replaceable. The adjustment tool can be purchased separately using part number 265-887T.

To drain the transmission fluid, remove the drain plug from the pan. Insert the supplied adjustment tool (265-887T). The end of the tool will line up with the #1 on the bottom of the pan. Rotate the tool counterclockwise so the end of the tool lines up with the #4 on the bottom of the pan. (Positions #2 and

3 will not be used.)

Remove the tool and the transmission fluid will drain out. Once it has fully drained, remove the pan from the vehicle.

INSTALLING OVERFLOW  TUBE AND GUIDE TUBE

This kit includes a new overflow tube and guide tube. Before installing the overflow tube on the new transmission oil pan, make sure that the arrows on the bottom of the overflow tube are aligned to each other. The guide tube does not require alignment. Install the overflow tube and guide tube on the new transmission oil pan by snapping them into place, as shown in the photo below.

INSTALLING THREADED FILL PLUG AND CLOSED PLUG

Install the supplied threaded fill plug on the new transmission oil pan and torque to 4 ft-lb (6 Nm). Install transmission pan. Fill the pan through the threaded fill plug. A threaded barb fitting is also provided.
Follow OE instructions to fill pan through fill plug using a transfer pump. You can adjust the position of the overflow tube using the adjustment tool.
After filling, remove the threaded fill plug and replace it with the supplied closed plug. Standpipe design will prevent fluid loss.

REPLACEMENT FILTERS

When replacing filters on the 265-887, use Dorman part number 265-887F. This part contains filters, a gasket, an overflow tube, a guide tube, a threaded fill plug and an adjustment tool. The filters on the OE pan are not replaceable. You can also purchase the adjustment tool separately using part number 265-887T.
