OVERVIEW
ASSEMBLY
- Before assembly and after prolonged storage without use wash all components except the motor and power cord with soapy water.
- Ensure all components are dried before assembly and operation.
-
Secure the motor on a flat surface, ensuring the suction cups on the bottom of the motor are stuck on the surface.
Note:
If placing on a kitchen counter, place it towards the centre or back of the counter to avoid the juicer from falling off. -
Place the base onto the motor unit, ensuring the spout fits into the slot on the side of the motor.
-
Carefully align and secure the gearon the bottom of the centrifuge bowl into the gear on the base, locking the centrifuge bowl in place Note:
• Be careful when handling the centrifuge bowl as it is sharp on the bottom.
• Ensure the centrifuge bowl can rotate evenly and that it is not loosely attached. -
Place the lid/chute on the juicer so that it covers both the pulp collector and the centrifuge bowl. Ensure the lid/chute fits tightly onto the base.
-
Lift the locking handle to engage with the lid/chute. The locking mechanism will make a clicking sound when it is correctly in place.
-
Align the groove on the pusher with the lid/chute, then slide the pusher down the chute.
-
Place the pulp collector under the lid so that it locks tightly onto the foot of the motor unit.
-
Place the supplied juice container, a glass, bowl, or any other suitable container under the spout to collect the juice. The juicer is now ready for use.
PREPARATION
- Always wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before juicing.
- It is optional to remove seeds, small pits, or thin peels before using the juicer.
- Fruits with thick peels (for example, oranges. lemons) must be peeled before juicing.
- Remove all the peel (including the pith), as even small amounts of peel can impart an unpleasant taste to the juice.
- Remove large pits (for example from plums, apricots) to avoid damaging the juicer.
- Large fruits and vegetables should be cut into pieces so they can fit into the chute.
OPERATION
-
Connect the power cord to an electrical outlet and turn on the switch.
-
The power dial should be in the ‘0’ position. Turn the power dial to the desired setting (‘1’ for low speed, ‘2’ for high speed’).
o Low-speed setting is suitable for juicing soft fruits and vegetables.
o High-speed setting is suitable for juicing harder fruits and vegetables. -
Feed fruits and vegetables through the chute, pushing them down gently using the pusher. Juice will flow out of the spout, and any pulp will go into the pulp collector. Keep an eye on the pulp collector and stop juicing before it becomes full.
Note:
• When using the pusher, ensure the grooves on the pusher are aligned with the chute.
• Exerting too much pressure on the pusher may reduce the amount of juice extracted and cause damage to the juicer.
• Long vegetables (for example, carrots) should be fed pointy end first. -
Stop the appliance before removing the pusher to add more fruit/vegetables to avoid avoiding splashes.
-
When finished, turn the power dial back to the ‘0’ position to turn the off the juicer. Switch off the electrical outlet, unplug and cord and remove the lid.
Note:
Do not leave the appliance running for more than 3 minutes at a time. If the
appliance has been running for 3 minutes, allow it to cool down for 7 minutes
before you use it again.
Tips:
- For easier cleaning, line the pulp collector with a plastic bag before using the juicer.
- To avoid splashes from pushing juicier fruits, you may turn the dial to the ‘0’ position before removing the pusher and adding more fruits and vegetables.
- Use fresh fruits and vegetables where possible as they contain the most juice.
- The various varieties of apples yield juices with different flavours and consistencies. Experiment with different varieties to find your favourite combinations.
- Leafy green vegetables (for example, cabbage and spinach) should have their leaves rolled into cylinders of an appropriate size before feeding them into the chute.
- Fibrous fruits and vegetables as well as those with very firm flesh (for example, bananas, mangoes, papayas, avocados) are not well-suited to juicing as these will often result in mashed fruit instead of juice.
- Juice should be consumed right after juicing as it quickly loses important nutrients when exposed to air. Taste can also be affected over time.
- Pure apple juice turns brown quickly when exposed to air. To prevent discoloration, serve apple juice immediately after juicing or add a little lemon juice.
- The pulp collected can be used in other dishes (for example, cakes, vegetable lasagne, muffins).
