FAQ
Q: Can I use GPS modules with Solo 2 DL?
A: No, Solo 2 DL is not compatible with GPS modules. It is recommended to
use the device as-is for GPS functionality.
Question:
- Why does the Solo 2 DL install on the latest generation bike in some cases have difficult acquiring the GPS signal?
- Why does the Solo 2 DL installed on a car with a closed cockpit have difficulty acquiring the GPS signal?
Answer:
The latest generation bikes are equipped with TFT displays, these could be a
source of EM noise and interfere with normal GPS signal reception. Cars with
closed cockpits, in metal or carbon, represent an obstacle to the correct
reception of the GPS signal. In addition, the presence of windscreens shielded
against UV or with heated windshield, significantly reduce the quality of the
GPS signal received.
Solution:
Starting from the version of RaceStudio 3 “3.65.05” and Solo2DL “02.40.85” you
can connect the AiM GPS module (GPS08 models/GPS09). For proper operation the
Solo 2 DL device must be powered by the 12V vehicle battery, this can be done
either using a datahub with external power supply or using the 7-pin cable,
normally supplied with the Solo 2 DL.
Please note : Solo 2 is not compatible with GPS modules.
