COMELIT BLTMOD Bluetooth Module

COMELIT-BLTMOD-Bluetooth-Module-product

Product Overview

Bluetooth module for programming sensors using the Comelit Sensor App BLTMOD is an accessory for the COMELIT series of outdoor sensors which allows use of the Comelit Sensor App on a mobile device that has a Bluetooth connection with one of these sensors. The innovative Comelit sensor application developed on the Android platform makes installing outdoor sensors easier. Comelit sensor can be used for optimal sensor adjustment, to define the area you intend to protect as clearly as possible while minimising false alarms. The application can be used to carry out a groundbreaking walk-test: the Bluetooth connection allows you to view the signal strength of the individual heads on site and in real time on your own device and to adjust the sensor without having to perform any manual procedures.

The following components are required in order to use the Comelit Sensor App:

  • Sensor compatible with the BLTMOD module: OPTT, OPDP, RFOPTT, RFOPDP, RFDT12E, RFDP12E, IR180EAMB, RFDT12CEB and DT12ECAMB
  • BLTMOD module
  • Android device with Comelit Sensor App (version 3.07 or higher)

Before you proceed, read all parts of this manual carefully. Keep this manual in a safe place for future reference. The manufacturer accepts no liability for improper use of the product, incorrect installation or non-observance of the instructions provided in this manual, or for the non-observance of any legal requirements relating to electrical systems.

Installing the Comelit Sensor App

Download the application free of charge at GOOGLE PLAY (compatible with Android version 5.1 onwards) The graphic interface of the Comelit Sensor App may vary depending on the functions of the sensor connected, and may change in line with how the features of the sensor evolve.

Connecting the BLTMOD module

To change the sensor settings using the Comelit Sensor App, set the DIP dedicated to remote programming to ON (refer to the sensor manual). Once programming via the Comelit Sensor App is complete, leave the remote programming DIP on the sensor set to ON to keep the set configuration active. There are two ways of connecting the BLTMOD to the sensor: Quick mode (compatible with more recent sensor models)  This offers the option of fitting the BLTMOD while the sensor is on. The sensor automatically detects the presence of the BLTMOD and restarts in Bluetooth communication mode. At the end of the session, simply remove the BLTMOD and the sensor will restart in normal mode.

Classic mode (compulsory for older sensor models)

The BLTMOD module is only fitted when the sensor is off. After cutting off the power supply to the sensor, fit the BLTMOD module and then restore the electricity supply. If the BLTMOD is suitably connected and is communicating with the sensor, during startup the BLUE alarm LED remains lit steadily for a few seconds, until the heads have stabilised (process accompanied by the red LEDs flashing). Classic connection mode is required for the following sensors

Sensor FW Version

  • RFDP12E 1.14 or lower
  • RFDT12E 1.11 or lower
  • RFDT12CEB 1.2 or lower
  • DT12ECAMB all

Pairing the BLTMOD module

To pair the BLTMOD module with the Android device on which the Comelit Sensor App has been installed, you need to access the Bluetooth settings for the device, perform a scan and pair the BLTMOD (identified with TBD followed by 5 digits). The Bluetooth security code for the module is “1234”. The BLTMOD and the Android device are now paired and you can start using the Comelit Sensor App.

Connecting Comelit Sensor to the BLTMOD module

  • Launch the Comelit Sensor application on your device.
  • Tap the name of the BLTMOD module paired previously (shown on the module label).
  • Wait for a few seconds while a connection is established.

 Walk-test

After closing the sensor cover you can start the WALK TEST. The diagram shows the signal strength detected by the various sensor heads separately. If the signal detected by the heads is not considered an alarm, the signal bars are shown in green. If the signal detected is enough to generate an alarm but the proper conditions for determining an actual alarm are not in place, for example confirmation from the other head or active disturbance filter, the bars are shown in yellow. If an alarm occurs the bars turn red and the background turns blue.

The Comelit Sensor application can be used to view – in real time – which conditions are causing the sensor to generate an alarm. This tool makes it possible to achieve optimal sensor installation, avoiding false alarms caused by incorrect sensor positioning (e.g. near disturbance elements that generate alarms), incorrect head positioning or incorrect head sensitivity settings. The figures below show the display for a walk test (figure 2) and the emergence of a sensor ALARM condition (figure 3). The sensor alarm condition is highlighted by the diagram background changing colour from black to blue

Configuring the sensor

The walk test must be stopped in order to configure the sensor. From standby, tap CONFIGURE on the main screen to access sensor configuration (figure 4).

When you have finished making changes, tap the back arrow at the top of the screen to save the parameters and return to standby.

Event meters

From standby, tap METERS on the main screen to access the sensor meters (figure 5)

The METERS screen shows the internal memory for all meters keeping track of the indications performed by the sensor during its lifetime.

There are two types of METER:

  • TOTAL METERS, which cannot be reset
  • PARTIAL METERS, which can be reset by the installer for timelimited checks

This is a diagnostic sensor tool which can be used to track sensor activity over time.

Disconnecting the BLTMOD module

At the end of the session, tap the disconnect button in the top-right corner (fig.1), close the application and continue according to the type of sensor used. Quick mode Remove the BLTMOD module. The sensor restarts in normal mode. Classic mode (for older sensor models) Cut off the electricity supply to the sensor, remove the BLTMOD module and then restore the power supply to the sensor. The sensor restarts in normal mode. To guarantee normal sensor operation, do not leave the BLTMOD module permanently installed in that sensor. If you forget to remove it, an audible signal will be repeated at intervals of approximately 5 minutes as a reminder to remove it.
