Step 1: Remove Control Box
Remove the included control box. The Operating Track Section cannot be controlled with the control box and the ASC2 together. Remove the blue, green, red, and black quick connects from the control box. Carefully detach the wires from the hot glue. -
Step 2: Unsolder Electromagnet Wire
Locate and unsolder the electromagnet wire as indicated in yellow. -
Step 3: Solder Ground Wire
Solder the ground wire from where the blue quick connect was to the adjoining outside rail, marked in light blue. -
Step 4: Extend Wires
Extend the electromagnet wire (unsoldered earlier) and add wire, to the fifth- rail contact. Run both wires to the outside of the track section for connection to the ASC2. -
Step 5: Connect Wires to ASC2

Connect the two wires from the Operating Track section to the ASC2.

Step 6: Connect COMM Terminal
Connect the COMM terminal on the ASC2 to either accessory power or track center rail. Ensure proper power supply for ASC2’s internal relays -
Step 7: Programming ASC2
1. Press ASC2 PGM button for one second. Red LED will begin flashing.
2. On a CAB controller, press ACC and the TMCC ID # you wish to assign to the ASC2.
3. Hit set.
4. Press 0 to put the ASC2 in Accessory 8 TMCC ID mode.
5. Press the ASC2 PGM button to exit program mode.
- Step 9: Control Operating Rails
If programmed as TMCC ACC #1 and wired per Step 5, use ACC #2 to control the operating rails. Press AUX1 to activate and deactivate the operating rails (momentary action). Press AUX2 to toggle the operating rails on and off (latching action).

A: No, the Operating Track Section cannot be controlled with both the control box and the ASC2 together. -
Q: How do I power the ASC2’s internal relays?
A: The AC Power terminals on the ASC2 require an accessory transformer connection to power the internal relays.
Wiring Lionel Operating FasTrack to LCS ASC2
- Step 1. Remove included control box. The Operating Track Section cannot be controlled with the control box and the ASC2 together.
- There are 4 quick connects to remove to release the control box. The blue, green, red, and black connects can be unplugged. These are circled in yellow below. Carefully remove the wires from the hot glue.
- Operating Track Section with control box removed.
- Step 2. Unsolder the electromagnet wire as circled below in yellow.
- Step 3. Solder ground wire from where blue quick connect was to the adjoining outside rail as shown below in light blue.
- Step 4. Extend electromagnet wire that was unsoldered earlier (shown in red below). Also, add wire to fifth-rail contact (shown in green below).
- Run both wires to outside of track section as they will connect to the ASC2.
- Step 5. Connected the 2 wires from the Operating Track section to the ASC2.
- Step 6. Connected the “COMM” terminal on the ASC2 to either accessory power or track center rail.
Step 7. Programming the ASC2 for controlling the Operating FasTrack section
- Press ASC2 PGM button for one second. Red LED will begin flashing.
- On a CAB controller, press ACC and the TMCC ID # you wish to assign to the ASC2.
- Hit set.
- Press 0 to put the ASC2 in “Accessory 8 TMCC ID” mode.
- Press the ASC2 PGM button to exit program mode.
Step 8. To control the electromagnet uncoupler:
- If the ASC2 was programmed as TMCC ACC #1 and wired per Step 5, then the uncoupler would be ACC #1.
- On the CAB controller, press ACC, 1.
- Press AUX1 to activate the uncoupler. Letting go of AUX1 will turn the uncoupler off. This is momentary action.
- Press AUX2 to turn the uncoupler on. It will stay on until AUX2 is pressed again. This is latching action.
- Note: It is highly recommended to not operate the electromagnet uncoupler for more than 5 seconds at a time as heat will build up and may damage the Operating Track section.
Step 9. To control the operating rails:
- If the ASC2 was programmed as TMCC ACC #1 and wired per Step 5, then the operating rails would be ACC #2. On the CAB controller, press ACC, 2.
- Press AUX1 to activate the operating rails. Letting go of AUX1 will turn the operating rails off. This is momentary action.
- Press AUX2 to turn the operating rails on. It will stay on until AUX2 is pressed again. This is latching action.
